Ladies, I have a question...I haven't heard anything about a shower so far and apparently my best friends mom was suppose to have one for me but I know that no invites have been sent out or anything. (she is upset that I didn't use her travel agent and she has made that clear to me) Also, I have made it very clear that I do not want a surprise for anything to do with the wedding because for some reason I have been very emotional the last few months. Anyway, it does kinda suck when we are paying just as much to have our wedding away as it does to have one here and people do not realize that.

Am I being stuck up? I just think that this is my one and only chance to have one and I think I will be upset if I don't get one...
Lisa- you poor girl!!! You TOTALLY deserve a shower and I am sick people are not thoughtful enough to throw you one, especially if you specified you did not want a surprise. My bridal shower is this sunday, and initially I didnt want one, but now I am really looking forward to it. You are such a nice person!!! I am sad sad.gif sad.gif Maybe if you can express to your friends, if nothing else, they can put together a post wedding party/shower. Those are my words of wisdom :)

Your wedding is going to look so great. I cannot believe how many people are coming! Definitely the more, the merrier though.

Lisa-- wish I could help you out-- I'm not having a shower, I'm not sure if it's because all of my friends live in different places or what. I'm not even going to worry. But I think if you want one you should definitely say something! I'm not sure to who-- but you're right, and this is the last time you'll get to have one. So it should be done :)

Last-- tomorrow is my FIRST wedding dress shopping appointment!!! I have 2 dresses that I love very very much. So tomorrow I get to try the first. Wish me luck please!!
Your first dress shopping!! how exciting!! Post pics for us, and I am wishing you all the best of luck. Thanks for your kind words!! My mom truly has been amazing....she's done most of my wedding stuff! I dont know what I would do without her!!!

JOSE: thanks for sharing all of those links! The chair bows are great. Do you know if the RPRM provides chair covers? Are they extra $?
hehe me too! i want to be in mexico NOW!! They do come with chair covers (white) and they're free!

Today I give myself to you in marriage. I promise to encourage and inspire you, to laugh with you, and to comfort you in times of sorrow and struggle.

I promise to love you in good times and in bad, when life seems easy and when it seems hard,

when our love is simple, and when it is an effort. I promise to cherish you, and to always hold you in highest regard. These things I give to you today, and all the days of our life."

JOSIE thanks for posing your long response from Riu. WTF does she mean "I am truly sorry but we don't offer this service." for the frozen drink table... I too have seen photos and planned on doing this. Soo confused. Do you know if you get champagne or any other drinks while everyone is sitting outside in the heat before/during/after the ceremony??

yeah! i know! isnt that ridic!huh.gif my mom and I have a feeling that maybe we have to ask the hotel to do it. We've seen it a million times, so we're actually calling the hotel and asking if they can set it up for us, and also if they can move up our dinner reservations. will keep you girls posted. sorry i am never on anymore due to my new position at work! ahh!
  6. ladies, here is my latest response. hope all is well with you!

    Ael,

I have not heard back from you in a week, I hope things are OK. Since we've talked I've come up with a final plan for the wedding. We would like to have the semi-private dinner at Chilis, and pay to rent the disco at the RIU Yucutan immediately following our reception dinner. I have a few questions about doing this, and they are as follows: ok. I have changed your dinner reservation to Chillis at 8.45pm (semi-private) and have booked the Disco at the RIU Yucatan as per request. Please note that we do not provide shuttle services between these 2 properties.1. Can we pay extra to have our semi-private dinner in the first seating? No, I'm sorry.

    2. Can we have a head table at our dinner? How many people are seated at each table at Chilis? Do you know if our group will be upstairs or downstairs? We'll have between 55-65 people. The set-up is based on space availability, we can go over your special requests during our interview but we cannot gurantee these as the restaurant is shared with other RIU guests. The tables are square but we tend to push them together to make tables of 6 - 8 people. Please not that your group will be accommodate downstairs as the area upstairs is for max. 30 guests.

3.Do you have any recomendations for LIMO companies in the area? We would like to arrange limosine transportation for our guests that will take them after our reception dinner at Chili's is over, to the disco at the Riu Yucatan. We'd appreciate it if you happened to have a list of limo services that you could provide to us. I honestly do not have information of Limo companies but possibly the hotel can assist you: [email protected]. Note that the disctance is less then a 2 minute drive.

    4. We would also like to have a table set up with frozen drinks for our wedding guests near the Gazebo immediately following our wedding ceremony. We have seen this in many of the RIU Palace Riviera Maya wedding picutes, and think it's a fabulous idea. How can we arrange this, and what is the cost? I am truly sorry but we don't offer this service. However, as soon as I receive your guest list, we can check on the option of booking a semi-private cocktail time for your group at one of the bars.

5.I also asked some questions in my previous email about the cost of steaming my dress. If you could please respond to that email as well it would be very helpful. The estimated cost is around 25 usd but it depends on the size and type of fabric. The front desk can assist you with this service.

    Thank you,

Ael had told me that if the group was 70 or more people then you paid $1900 for the chili's private dinner and you got it from 7pm-11pm. This has a choice of either, and international buffet, a mexican buffet or plate service (for $25 more per person) I would rather do this with the mexican buffet from 7-11 for $200 more then wait until 8:45pm for our dinner. anyway this is what I am waiting to find out because she had to check with management to see if that was allowed. Honestly, I am paying more for it, why wouldn't it be allowed?

    Hopefully this all makes sense.....

Josie - did you book your spa stuff yet? what all are you getting done at the spa?
lisa, ah! oh my goodness. I emailed her LAST friday she still has not responded. Maybe she is on vacation or she's sick or something?

I decided to do the semi-private at chilis, but asked if we could pay to have it earlier.....i decided that i'm going to rent out the disco and we're getting a limo to take us from RIU RM to RIU Yuc.

I havent decided on spa stuff yet, all my stuff is included with the caprice package, i'm just doing hair, makeup and nails....but i'm trying to decide if i should book hair appts. for my girls, but they are $66 a piece! AHHH!! so many costs!

Sorry I've been non responsive, my new job role at work has me SUPER busy. I'll post some emails from AEL this weekend.....but like I said she hasnt emailed me in a week!

Yes, I am new to any type of forum and the search feature is certainly very helpful. Congratulations to everyone on their engagements. I have been married for 31 years.....it has it's rough spots and it's times of smooth sailing but is well worth while if you stick with it and just muscle right through any heavy lifting. Ha Ha.

Thanks to those of you who said "No to the mailing stuff to Mexico." Guess that plan will be shelved but with all the extra charges for additional luggage on the airlines, I wonder how expensive it will be and how many suitcases and bags we will end up needing to haul all the stuff down there? Oh well. We need to buy more suitcases!! (Josie can't you ask for that for your shower... ha ha ha... just kidding)

Has anyone seen the disco... or does anyone have some pictures of it? We have a few from the resort but would love to see the layout of it. What a great idea to go down there in advance and scope it out. Wish we had thought of that but with 2 of Josie's best friends getting married and all their showers, engagement parties and our own stuff we have had so few weekends.

Have fun everybody!! Aren't you just so thrilled that you were born girlshuh.gif I know I am. I wouldn't be a guy for anything....ha ha ha...
Mom, I already sent you a few pictures of the disco.... you are posting this in the wrong place, you'll have to ask the RIU RM or RIU Yucutan girls specifically...
