We got married at one of the Riu properties and they snapped the AI bracelet off of our parents, us and the bridal party. We then took ours off for the TTD pictures and just had new ones put on when we got back. It was not an issue.

My wedding was at 2pm with the reception at 630pm. It worked out great and there was not a lot of time for us. By the time we were done with the ceremony, the "formal" pics with the family and bridal party, and pictures of just my DH and me, we had about 45 minutes to unwind and refresh back at the room. The guests were fine with the break. They went back to thier rooms, hung out at the pool/bar, and just relaxed. A few caught up with us and hung out while we were getting pictures taken. I though the 2pm slot worked out fine.

I don't know any local seamstresses, but I can recommend my photographer. We used her for an engagement sessio, I used her for my BD session, and she was our DW photographer.

As there does not always seem to be consistency with RMB, I will be interested to hear what Geralyn says. I also did a beach reception and mine started at 6:30pm and ended 9ish, but we hung out on the beach until nearly 10. They were just cleaning up around us.

I had my iPod playing on shuffle. Listening to the variety of music I like made me feel more comfortable.

I can completely sympathize...been there, done that. I had my wedding and a beach reception in Jamaica with the 23 people who decided to join us. And, had a wonderful, memorable and completely enjoyable wedding. Because my parent's families are huge (mom one of six and dad one of eight) I also had a huge relatively formal AHR. And, I was miserable at it. All I kept thinking is that "I'm glad this is not my wedding day." The night was completely insane. I barely got to dance or eat.

 

The wedding and reception in Jamaica was for me and my DH and those who joined us. The AHR was for everyone else.

 

Do not let what they are saying deter you! Do what will make you happy.

I'll agree with what others have said. I had no problem with insurance without the official certificate.

I was just on my photographer's blog. She has added the day after shoot or the love the dress shoot or the trash the dress shoot - depending on your prespective.

I had 25 people at the wedding and we decided last minute at the resort to do the private beach reception. We didn't even talk about how many tables or what the seating would be like prior to arriving at the reception. There were three tables of 8 set-up and a table of 4. We sat at the table of 4 with our Best Man and MOH. We simply let the rest of the guests pick thier own seats - this way everyone sat with people they wanted. Everyone had a good time and were happy with the seating. We were not even at the reception when they all figured it out - we were getting some sunset photos taken.

To keep everyone happy - everyone who was invited to the AHR was also invited to the DW - even though we knew a lot of people would not be able to make/come to the DW. We wanted them to feel welcome to both. So, we included two invitations in the same - one for the DW and one for the AHR.

We got custom shirts from the company below. You have to do all the measuring, but we were really happy with how they turned out. And, the measuring sounds worse that it is. They provide fairly detailed instructions on thier website. You have a selection of shirt colors to choose from and then a large selection of thread colors.

Thanks Everyone! I know how much I enjoyed looking at everyone else's pictures, so I figured it was my turn to share. I know she intends to "blog" our trash the dress (or love the dress as she refers to it) next - we wondered the downtown area of Montego Bay for our TTD.

I actually purchased wedding insurance and thankfully didn't need it. Mine would have covered not only the travel aspect, but any costs I put out prior to the wedding - attire, photographer deposit, etc. It also covers if the rings are lost. Or if the dress is lost.

Right now we are the first post - but it is Caroline & Jeff - destination wedding - Jamaica

I have the same issue - I am several inches shorter than my DH. I wore white wedges with silver accents. I don't have a picture but they were by Carlos Santana. I had no issues walking or dancing (slow) in them on the sand. And I am not the most graceful person.

That is strange. We also did the beach reception. I did inquire about a poolside reception and in June I was told that RMB did not offer this option. I know another option used to be was to rent a portion or the entire Mahoe Bay restaurant but I was told this is a problem if there is more than one wedding that day - particularly if that wedding is larger than your's.

I used a real touch bouquet for my flowers, my bridesmaids and the mother's corsages. I would say the weight was on par with real flowers or a little lighter. No, they did not smell. They looked great and I was thrilled with my decision. I have my bridal bouquet sitting on the dresser in our bedroom (the colors match perfectly - by fluke). My photographers thought they were real, and my MIL thought it was real.

For those of you who have used MyPublisher for photobooks, did you have any problems with the program running really slow and/or routinely "not responding"? I have encountered both of these problems. Thankfully, the "not respondeing" issue does not cause it to shut down, but it is taking me forever to put together my photobook.

That's funny...we only had 25 people and they allowed me to do a beach reception. It was the best decision I made, and I'm really glad they did not raise the minimum number of guests with me.

Compared to many I have a relatively boring job. I'm a market research director in the healthcare industry. Essentially, I work with pharmaceutical companies (for the most part) to find out physicians, nurses, patients, etc opinions on new products, marketing campaigns, and other things like that.

 

It is interesting and never seems boring, especially since I'm not medically trained, but have to sound intelligent to the medical professional I'm talking with. The most recent proposal was in the area of reducing graft-versus-host disease in leukemia patients who have had a stem cell transplant.
