  1. Oh and I forgot to mention we ended up staying at Milamores Tulum. That's the old Pablo Escobar property right before the Biosphere Reserve!!! It was AWESOME!!!!!!!! I loved it and I really hope to have my wedding there!!!!! Honestly I left a little piece of my heart there!
  2. I'm back!!!! I went on my Mexico trip and went all over the place. But don't fret, I squeezed in a visit to Blue Tulum. I met with the wedding planner and got the tour. The place is nice (though small and somewhat limited in things to do) and the rooms are beautiful. I don't think you could really go wrong with the resort. Having said all of that, I won't be having my wedding there. The resort felt a bit cold for my liking. I also didn't love the hard sell tactics. I understand people are in a hard spot due to the loss of tourism revenue but the WC emphatically refused to let us try the food unless we signed a contract first. When we explained that this would be the only trip we would take there before the wedding she still refused. Then she tried to talk us into signing the contract on the spot by dropping the price $5. By that point the sales tactics were frankly making me uncomfortable. But like I said the place is very nice, the rooms great, the waters in Tulum spectacular . . . And I am sure they would put on a lovely event!! I will still have my wedding in Tulum but at another location. I think I just realized AIs are not for me. But if you're looking for a small/private AI in a secluded spot then this is for you!!!! I took tons of pictures for you girlies and I'll post those soon!
  3. Boven, We're considering maybe staying there when we're down in a few weeks. Then we'll talk to the owners about their flat fee too. I would prefer if it went down and didn't include the open bar. Our guests aren't really drinkers anywayz. Did the fee also include set up of a ceremony location and chairs on the beach?
  4. We're not sure yet. Since a lot of places are pretty wide open in terms of resos we're thinking of walking up to the ones that we want to stay at and offering a deal. Although, I may book ahead of time at Casa de Miel!
  5. BTW Angelina didn't offer me anything like the deal you got. Either way I think it's best for us to stay off the resort since we want to visit other locations outside of Blue Tulum!
  6. Malisa, Thought I would share that I plan on dropping by Milamores while I'm in Tulum in a couple of weeks. If we don't have too many guests (and we're hoping not to) their price may be somewhat workable. Still more than I originally hoped to pay but we'll see. And then there is always the art of negotiating! Gracias for all your help amiga!!!!
  7. I contacted Hotel Milamores (through a wedding planner) based on their website and the rave reviews of a recent Milamores bride. I was expecting their costs to be reasonable but I was shocked. The quote I got back was for packages starting at $150/pp and that doesn't include tax and gratuity. They wouldn't break it down for individual costs it's a per head cost. I was sad because I was really hoping to include it in my list of potential wedding locations!
  8. As of right now the plan for us is still to go at the end of this month! We figure the worst is over but to be safe we haven't booked a hotel yet. Adler, Had you originally been planning to stay at Blue Tulum? Did you find a good deal somewhere!?!?
  9. Adlergray, Are you still going? We would fly out May 30th . . . right now we're in "wait and see" mode.
  10. Thank-you so much for all the awesome info! I'm going to write Angelina and see what she says! Also, I can't wait to hear your trip report when you get back. When exactly are you going?
  11. Okay I guess I'll chime in! I'm not a Blue Tulum bride yet but I hope to get married in 2010 in the Tulum area. I'm trying to decide in between a non-AI (like Milamores) or one of the two AIs. At this moment I would say cost is the biggest factor - hence why I'm leaning towards Blue Tulum. The information you've posted is awesome btw!! Where did you find the info on the packages? With all the changes the resort has undergone (particularly in ownership) I am unsure if I am looking at the right website. Would you mind passing on contact info? Also, I should add I will be down there with my mom and my fiance during the first week of June doing site visits!
