I bought it from David's Bridal, and they didn't tell me this! When I took it to another store to have it looked at the other day, they told me they couldn't shorten it without pretty much ruining it. So, I'm also in the market for a dress!! Thanks for the heads up!
  2. So ladies, did you wear shoes on the beach? I was thinking of wearing barefoot sandals...?!?
  3. Thanks ladies... i think this is the dress that I want!! i haven't even tried it on yet.. There are two bridal shops in town that have this dress. I will definately be going to try it on in about a month or so... Gorgeous, right?!? Like you all said, Ill try to take a picture into a seamstress and get some quotes if possible. Thanks
  4. Ladies this dress is the gown I'm dreaming of: Item Information Page | EDEN BRIDALS - Wedding Dresses, Bridesmaid Dresses, Bridal Dresses Do you all think that it will be extremely expensive to get it hemmed. I'm only 5'2!! Did any of you have very detailed dresses at the hem.. what was your alteration costs?
  5. Great!! Thanks! we are having a beach themed BBQ, perfect
  6. An honorary bridesmaid can be anything you want it to be. Usually its for people who couldn't attend the wedding, but would have been a part of the wedding party. I want to use it if I didn't have a wedding party, they can even walk down the aisle, wear similar colors, or sit in a row at your ceremony... so basically bridesmaids without standing up and purchasing dresses..etc. Im really thinking about doing this. Has anyone went this route?
  7. Yeah, I'm still confused on what to do...luckily I have time on my side, so I will wait to make a final decision. Something inside wants a ceremony with only me and future hubby... I thought about having "honorary MOH and Bridesmaids" so that I could honor my sister and close friends. If I did this I would maybe let them dress in the same color or possibly even walk down the aisle, but sit down instead of standing... Is this awkward? has anyone had "honorary" or no bridesmaids at all. how was your experiece?
  8. I really can't wait to go dress shopping.. What I'll do is try on different styles of dresses, then try to find it online for less. Thanks for the advice ladies
  9. Im an August 7, 2010 Bride!! We got engaged on August 4th, 2008
  10. Sending out cards with links to you tube is a GREAT IDEA! I just don't know what to send the cards in... Also everyone would have to have computers.. Maybe I can email some invites? Is that tacky?
  11. Yeah, I was going to handle that by sending paper invites to some guests... I'm sort of surprised that no one talk about doing DVD invites.. I wonder if there is a reason for this?
  12. Thanks.. These would be great as invites. I might do these as well.
  13. Jenny, Do you have a pic of your invites... I've heard of brochures for welcome bags.. but never as invites.. Its really a good idea.. Where did you get them? Did you DIY?

I almost bought a dress off ebay!! lol I think I'll just wait until a year before, then start.
  15. I think the travel brochure invites would be great! As far as RSVP by email or phone, I think you should be fine, as long as you put a date to RSVP by. You will probably then have to follow up by telephone to be sure. I actually plan on people RSVP by phone or on our website.
  16. Good.. I think Im going to start trying on dresses around 14 months prior. I have the dress in mind, but I want to try it on. I can't wait!!!
  17. A good friend of mines made her own DVD wedding invites.. I thought the idea was very creative. I'm thinking of doing the same, but a little different as far as whats on the DVD. Has anyone heard of this idea? What do you think? I think it would be neat to put like a slidshow on the DVD, then have the wedding invite in powerpoint. We could also make a custom DVD label.
  18. Do you think bridal shops will mind...since my wedding is so far away? I'm definately not looking to buy right now, I just have a couple of particular gown that I want to try on. anyone?
  19. How far from your wedding did you start trying on gowns? How much cushion should I give myself, if I plan to try on gowns in store and then order them online. If I start loooking 12 months before is that enough time?
  20. thanks you guys... I think I really need to take my time on this one. I will wait a couple of months to decide whether we want attendants or not.. I just dont want to regret anything. I've read about the bridesmaids horror stories.. I will definately think about this! LOL
  21. Well we are 18 months away and I really been thinking if we should have a bridal party. I have one close friend that was invited to the wedding. The rest of the 50 guests are family. Did you have a bridal party? We were thinking of a sibling only wedding party, but part of me wants to forgo to whole things and have honorary bridesmaids that would just help... what do you guys think? Is the stress worth it... If I do choose a bridal party when should I ask?

  23. Thanks for the Ideas!!! I would have never thought to punch out the photos and use them! You guys are amazing! That was also a good idea about incluiding them with Info about booking... I can't remember what program I used.. may Corel Draw?? I downloaded a free trial from downloads.net I believe?
  24. We sent out our STDs 22 months in advance!!! We wanted to give our guests a huge WARNING!! lol. I posted it in my Signiture... What do you think? I designed them myself, then got them printed through VistaPrint! all we paid was shipping! We got 100 total. We only sent out, 25 so Im trying to figure out what to do with the extras... Any Ideas?!?
