  1. All of a sudden everyone in my family is pregnant; my brother's FI, 2 of my cousins (one with TWINS)! We threw around the idea of a cruise wedding but I kept going back to a resort just because it seemed less hectic (although FI really was pulling for a cruise). But now I'm thinking cruise mainly because the people I want there most (mainly my brother and his FI) will be bringing children.

Would you rather take your kids to a resort wedding or a cruise wedding?

  2. I'm so excited! I'm going to be an aunt!! For those that are mothers (or even those that aren't) what nifty baby items can't you live without?! I want to get my brother, his FI, and the baby the best gifts I can so any suggestions will be much appreciated!

  3. We chose DR b/c we visited there as a part of the cruise that FI proposed to me on AND we fell in love with the country! It is so beautiful and really has something to offer everyone. Obviously there are plenty of AIs but there are non-AI resorts as well...like Tami said I'm not connecting with any of their names at the moment but they are out there!

Good luck with your search. I'm one of those people who keeps changing their minds too...but I do know some thing for sure I'm a DB bride-to-be all the way!

  4. What am I doing...I can just post the pic here - LOL

FI talked me into this giant thing - I actually had him talked down to a bulldog but then when he saw the ad in the paper that was it. But I'm glad we got him! He is such a GREAT dog...he's so gentle and easy going.

He is about 175lbs right now and growing. His dad was 215lbs so...

My parents have two chocolate labs and Dakota is smaller but Mocha is HUGE....or at least I always thought she was 'till I saw her next to Titus. He makes everything look tiny.

I was wondering about that. I'm in love with the Dream resort in La Romana but I'll go with Casa de Campo if it means being able to get married in that church! :) The church is beautiful but I also want to get married there because we were on a cruise when FI asked me to marry him and La Romana was one of the places we stopped during that cruise and we loved it there so it'll all tie in if we are able to get married there.

I read somewhere that the church held Catholic ceremonies only, have you heard this as well? Fi is Roman Catholic but we agreed to have a non-denominational ceremony (which his mother totally disagrees with....we will be living in sin by not having a Roman Catholic mass - whatever).

That little church would be my first choice also! We visited La Romana and absolutely loved it! We had to tear ourselves away form that church actually...I kept taking pictures and FI kept walking around.

Anywho...I'm interested in hearing any reviews from anyone who has had their wedding in La Romana also. Or even anyone who is planning right now...how is the planning going? I was super psyched when I heard that Dreams had a resort there now and the pics on the website are making me think that I've found my resort! But like everyone else I'm skeptical since it's "new."
  7. OMG - I am so ready to start BL!! I took my before pics today and....wow, not pretty! I knew I had put on weight but I have more bumps and dimples than you can count!! It's honestly totally disgusting. So YAY for loosing weight, looking better and getting healthy!

As we speak I'm eating my last Wegman's sub (for a while anyway) and this weekend my mom, sister and I are going out on the town before we jump on the the wagon.

  8. I was on a cruise that stopped in Grand Cayman - 6 years ago...lol It was right after the hurricane came through but it was still beautiful! We didn't do any excursions, just walked around and enjoyed the scenery.

sofylina - are you planning on this April? the grand old house is on my short list and FI brought up today maybe a cruise wedding.....so I'm just anxious to hear your reviews! :)

  9. Every March we go to Florida for a week or two...depending on how much vaca time we have. This past March we went to Florida for a week and then on a cruise for a week, my parents joined for for the cruise portion of the vacation.

We had a balcony stateroom on the ship. It was FI's first cruise and my second. After we boarded the ship we were walking around and I became fascinated with this pink ship that we could see. Of course FI said it was red and not pink, but I insisted it was a pink barge. After the muster drill we returned to our room and I was excited to go up to the deck to meet with my CruiseCritic buddies but FI insisted that we have a glass of champagne and watch the ship shove off from our balcony. I was bummed but it sounded like a good trade off. FI was running back and forth form the door to the balcony waiting for this champagne and I kept saying "Will you relax it will be here." (Now that I look back it was a nervous thing....not being able to sit down)

So, we got just a little out from the port and saw the pink barge...it turned out to be red - but a very light red! :-D We finally got our champagne and sat and looked back at the city of Miami. Another ship came up and FI said to me "Hmmm what color is that ship?" I turned to look at the ship and turned back at him and there he was on his knee with this gorgeous ring and he just started to go on and on about how perfect I was and how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me....I started crying and I was so in awe that I didn't even hear him ask me if I would marry him! I just kept "OMG"ing and after about a minute he said "You never answered me" and stupid me I said "Answered what?" LOL It was amazing. So perfect. I couldn't have asked for anything better!!

I wore the ring all that day and and my parents never noticed....very observant I know! But that night before dinner FI called and had them come to our room for a cruise-kick-off toast and to announce the news. My father is a keeps-to-himself kinda guy so he was just ok great about the news but my mother es ecstatic.

So was the jump start to a great week in the Caribbean! Now, I'm starting to plan another perfect week int he Caribbean!

  10. Hello all! What made you choose your resort? We are in the begining stages and are looking at different resorts....I'm having a hard time figuring how to narrow things down.

We will be having a a super small guest list (only inviting immediate family...and I'm only expecting the the most 10 guests) and I know that keeping it affordable for those that are going to be there is a top priority. Other than that we have no limitations/restrictions.

I just look at beautiful pictures and no decision is even close to being made - lol
