  1. To Julie/Sara/Connie....I was wondering what kind of stuff they sell at the market on the resort. Was thinking of picking up a few things down there either to put in the OOT bags or as souvenirs for our guests. Should I just bring some trinkets down or do they have some cute stuff?

I've been to Holguin before and I know there aren't a lot of places to buy stuff off the resort.

    Thanks for your input ladies!!

  2. I bought my dress from a DB in New York just across the border. The sales lady did haul out dresses but was never around to answer any questions I had about the dresses. When she did show up I made it really clear that I did not want a train....ended up buying one with a train though because I really loved it.

When I checked on the internet the next day it said the dress I bought could be ordered without a train (why didn't the sales lady tell me this). I called the store...they said no problem...they will re-order the dress without a train and credit the $50 to my credit card when I come pick it up.

Couple months later I get an e-mail saying my dress is it...YEAH!! Except it is the wrong one...it has a train. When I call the store the lady tells me that I have to come into the store, receive the credit and then they'll order the correct one. I explained that I'm a 2 hour drive away, I don't want to make the extra trip to get the credit and asked why they can't give me the credit over the phone. She says it's not their policy and that "in case I didn't know a lot of their customers are from Canada".

In the end I called and complained to the manager and she did end up giving me the credit over the phone and re-ordered the dress for me. Now I'm just waiting for it to come it...fingers crossed it doesn't have a train.

  4. I got one quote but unfortunately I deleted it....we have a friend taking our pictures. They will expect to stay at the hotel for 3 nights I believe....so maybe you could try to share one with another bride to cut down on the expense.

  5. Congrats Crystal on setting the date and time..it is very exciting when you receive the confirmation. That should be an easy date to remember too 10/20/2010. I have not found a good map of the resort either....they were very blurry from other peoples cameras.

  6. I unfortunately won't have a lot of "fathers" attending our wedding but the idea that dodds had is a really good one. I will have a memory frame on my bouquet and will leave an empty seat in the front row during the ceremony with a little poem and explanation in the program. Billysbride's idea is fantastic unfortunately I would probably need 3 boxes of kleenex to watch a slideshow...I do like the idea of dancing with my new hubby to the song. Thank you ladies for all your input.

I can't find a good pic of the girls dresses but will post a pic when we pick them up in a little while

  9. Ange...I just went on the road trip this Saturday and as stated before there are only a few dresses that are $99. Depending on how much a regular dress costs you can save anywhere from $50-300.

I ended up buying a dress for $400 (incl. $50 dollar discount) as well as my MOH and BM both rec'd $20 off their dresses.

The sale goes on regularly...the current one ends today (may 25).

There selection isn't bad, I did a lot of research on there website so I knew what I was looking for. The sales lady brought over a brochure, I showed her which ones I was interested in and she went and found them all for me...saved me a lot of hassle searching thru the racks.

  10. I really wanted gerberas in my bouquet kind of like the following:

Just not sure if I will be able to get them down there (I haven't seen them in any photos). I think I'll be bringing fake ones down and use the free flowers on the tables somehow.
