The white tulle was part of the luxury package decorations. I didn't pay any extra for it.

My main colors are blue and green - I am also having maracas for each person in my colors as well.... it is so hard to imagine all this without seeing exactly how it will look. But, I do think adding the colored napkins would really add some color to the tables.... By the way, what are your colors? Thanks! Our colours were blue and green as well, along with some yellow. I loved the combination.

Wow, lot's of movement in this thread since I've last been on. Great to see so many new Royal brides! FYI, for the cocktail and reception, it's open bar BUT the reception's open bar is only for three hours. If you want a longer reception (ours was 5 hours) you have to pay extra to have the bar stay open.
  5. We also went with a vegetarian option for one of our guests. She had the tomato salad with grilled zucchini, the cream of spinach soup, the linguini with dried tomato sauce and for dessert, she had the same as the other guests (strawberry pie).
  6. Stuffed chicken salmon beef fillet with dijon mustard (what we went with). Mango mousse (my favourite). Passion flower, strawberry pie with vanilla cream (what we went with). Some kind of chocolate dessert (forget what kind, exactly).
  7. Ok, here are photos of some of the menu options we had: This is the Spring Salad with ashed goat cheese and almond oil (what we went with). This is the duck salad option. There was a smoked shrimp/pineapple salad option but we didn't get a photo. Creamed vegetable soup. Clam chowder with chopped vegetables au white wine flavour. (What we went with.) Mushroom vegetable soup.

When did this 3 hour reception come into effect? I got the quote in May 09. If you look at the package information on the Royal's website, it says 3hrs for a 35 person reception under the Luxury Package. We paid more per guest per hour after our 3hr reception was up. If you were quoted 4hrs, make sure you bring that email with you!

I initially got a quote from the resort for Doremixx but when I contacted the DJ directly, I learned it was cheaper to book through them.

Did you get a DJ & the light up dance floor? I'm getting very excited! Thanks for the help! We had a menu tasting two/three days before our wedding; all the choices were amazing. We chose then. My brother took photos of the food options. If you like, I can post them. Let me know. As for the cocktail hour, we had many options as well. We went with 3 hot hors d'oeuvres and one cold option. I didn't get to try it but I was told they were AMAZING. I think the most popular was the coconut shrimp and sesame seed chicken skewer. We went with the Luxury package and went with Ivan at Doremixx for our DJ. He was awesome (and provided the lit up dance floor). Hope this helps!

Question - is anyone planning on shipping down items for the wedding? I heard it's not recommended because shipments sometimes get lost - but i'm just trying to figure out how I am going to manage all of the favors and my dress! argh! Yay for booking Elizabeth! She was awesome!

Yes, the Luxury package includes food and drink for 35 people. You don't have to pay extra UNLESS you want your reception to last longer than 3 hrs. Only then will you have to pay more.

  16. Does anyone know if a Jaime and Josh who got married at the Royal on May 16th posts on this forum? I'm trying to contact them but can't find any posts. Thanks!

I had some issues with Doreen myself but just so you guys know, in case Villa World didn't make it clear, those women (Doreen and Angie) are not your wedding coordinators. They 'book' your date and package, take your $300 deposit and then give you your WC's name and contact info. After I finished with Doreen, I was handed off to Paty, who was wonderful! Anything you book with Doreen and Angie can be changed, upgraded, etc with your WC. I have a feeling Doreen isn't answering your questions 'cause she doesn't know. She should just say so instead of being a pain.

Hey jaxsebridetobe! the red carpet came with our package but we opted out of using it; I didn't like the look of red against our colour scheme of blue, green, and yellow. If you want an aisle runner in another colour, you'll need to bring your own; the don't have any other options.

I just got incontact with Kim in Florida for Real resorts, and that is what she is telling me...seems kinda strange. Hey cinny726! What Kim is telling you kinda makes sense, I think. They have a policy for outside vendors to pay $100 to get on the property. Kim mentioning you have to pay the photog as a guest probably means (and I'm guessing here) that you have to cover the vendor's meal. Since they aren't a paying guest of the resort, they can't eat at the restaurants. In my situation, it was in our photographer's contract that I cover one night's accommodation for her near the resort. I determined that it was more expensive for me to pay the hotel stay, plus the vendor fee, plus a day pass for the photog and her assistant. Instead, I booked the photog one night's stay at the resort. Doing this, I didn't have to pay the day pass/guest meal 'cause the photographer was able to get dinner at the resort restaurants and I didn't have to pay a vendor fee because the photographer was a 'guest' of the resort. I hope this helps.

When it's closer to your wedding, ask your WC to book your trials at the salon for you in advance. They get really busy and fill up quickly!

Re: the photos at night, I think that might have been the photographer experimenting with the photos (to make them look a bit grittier/journalistic) but I can't say for sure. After Elizabeth posted the teasers, she sent me a link to our slideshow and gallery and there are tonnes of photos at night without the grainy look. I'll post a link to the slideshow here so you can have a look at the difference.
  24. Hey everyone! Elizabeth sent us a link to our slideshow. We got married at the Royal in Playa del Carmen on May 29th. I hope you like them! Alexandra and Andrew
