  1. I had the earrings custom made by msbelle on etsy.com (you can do a search for sellers and find her shop). She makes beautiful jewelry and she's an honest business woman--so she won't rip you off. I'm sure she would make them for you, too! The aqua quartz was just a touch lighter than the dress, which I liked. But she would custom make anything you ask for, show you pictures, and modify them for you. She's great to work with! Thanks for the compliments! Quote: Originally Posted by sdtooley Lauren, Where did you find the earrings that your bridesmaids wore? 3. Hey ladies! It's been just over a month since my wedding at Dreams, but just wanted everyone to know that I am working on my review. In the meantime, I uploaded a bunch of professional wedding pics to photobucket.com. Since I was given 1,001 pictures, (bless Cecilia Dumas' heart) I made different albums so that they were organized for family and friends to view. Here are the links to the albums (sorry so many--didn't know how else to organize them and post!!!): Wedding Planning Details: Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket Getting Ready: Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket Bride and Bridesmaids (and vanity pics, hehe): Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket Ceremony: Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket Post-Wedding Pics: Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket Cocktail Hour: Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket Reception at Seaside Grill: Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket Trash the Dress: Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket
  4. I only have the size 8 available now. I JUST sold the size 4. Also, the smallest size available anywhere is a 2. My MOH is a size 0 (in attached pic), and she had to have the 2 taken in, but it wasn't difficult, because the dress is only fitted at the bust. I am a size 6, like your other bridesmaid, but more like a size 0 on top, so the 2 fit me perfectly. The bust is what counts; if she has a big bust, she may only have to have the 8 taken in a bit. Either way, let me know if you're still interested. 5. Thanks! I just had to have these dresses for my girls; I had to have the owner of the bridal store here in Lansing pull some strings in NY to get them because he does not carry the line! I went to great lengths for them! Quote: Originally Posted by Erika J I love these dresses! You should have no problem selling them.
  6. Hello!! Thanks for your interest. At the moment, I'm waiting to hear back from someone on whether or not she wants to purchase them. I'll let you know in the next couple of days if they both become available again! If it makes you feel better, none of my bridesmaids tried the dresses on beforehand...I did!! Luckily, this dress is only fitted at the bust, so it is flattering on most body types. If you know of any shops that carry Priscilla of Boston, I think the shop would be able to order the Melissa Sweet line...I think. It's worth a check. Good luck!! Happy planning!! 7. I hired Cecilia Dumas to do my photography and she is awesome. I haven't posted pics yet, but will very soon. In the meantime, I know there was another bride who posted pics taken by Cecilia here on the forum...you could do a search for the photographer. The pics on her website aren't as realistic as what you'll get--but I loved everything and would choose her all over again. I told her I wanted pics of the "good" side of my face and she remembered the whole day. Not only that, but she is very reasonably priced. Trinidad at the salon did my make-up and I was VERY happy with it. However, I had a trial run a couple of days prior, and I wasn't thrilled. Not sure what she did differently the day of the wedding, but it looked 100 times better. I guess it's hit or miss. Quote: Originally Posted by ERnurse I forgot to mention one favor.... I know I have seen at least 3 brides on this forum that had amazing pics taken by resort photogs and 2 were recent, but there were some brides that stated in their review that the pics were AWEFUL.. So far we have one name provided to us by BC Bride2be his name was Philimino sp? And Amesharps photographer was pretty awesome too... we don;t have a name but he wore a headband the entire time... and Tremendous thanx in advance to all the brides that can get some more info for us
  8. Yes, I second that Sunbride--I think we're catching onto their pattern. We arrived on a Tuesday night and went to Mexican fiesta night. But, they also had fiesta night on Friday (we had our rehearsal dinner there--as I posted before). So, I THINK they may have fiesta night a couple of times a week-- every Tuesday and another time on another day of the week...not sure that it is every Friday. Another thing for brides to keep in mind is that world cafe is closed for these occassions. Quote: Originally Posted by SunBride I said 2 pages ago that my wedding was a thursday and that was mexican fiesta night, but I was wrong (man, how much we forget in 10 months!). 9. They're really flexible about anything you want to do. We had our cocktail hour at the front lobby outside that overlooks the resort and it was perfect! They served us drinks, but guests could step right inside to the lobby bar and order anything they wanted. Quote: Originally Posted by WisconsinBride I was wondering if any of you could answer this question for me? Also, SunBride do you have an email address of the person you had contacted about upgrades? I couldn't find it. Thanks so much.
  10. Thanks, Lindz! I look forward to sharing my review with everyone! As for chair sashes and draping material, I actually rented them from a local company. I'm positive you can find chair sashes for as cheap as $1 per piece. That's what I got mine for! We had 45 guests, and the lady gave me 50 (no charge for the extra 5). Then you don't have to worry about buying, how long they should be, etc. She gave me the same material for draping (Just longer, wider pieces - $75) and also threw some chiffon in on top of it! However, the draping is another story. DT wasn't going to drape my rented stuff, b/c apparently they staple it to the ceiling at SG! I told Landy to just make sure that the staff didn't RIP them down afterward and to carefully take them down. It all worked out, but keep that in mind with draping material. I ordered 14 of the 12" paper lanterns and 10 of the 20" lanterns (paperlanternstore.com). I ordered the battery operated kind (each takes 3AAA) and brought batteries for them. DT didn't hang them all, probably only 15 or so. I should've asked Landy beforehand, cause it is a pain bringing them down there! They don't lay completely flat b/c of the battery pack in the middle. The 20" ones, although they were beautiful, just squeezed into our largest suitcase. We asked my cousin to bring some, too. We asked yet another guest to bring the chair sashes and draping material (took up one medium sized suitcase). Sorry, this will all go in my review, but thought you should know now! Good luck! How many lanterns, and draping material did you bring? Did you carry it all with you? I'm just about to order mind and wanted to double check on the amount. Thanks! And congrats again!
  11. No, they will put bows on chairs for you as a part of the set up included in the ultimate wedding package. If you have them hanging paper lanterns and draping material at your reception like my husband and i did, then they will charge you another set-up fee. Quote: Originally Posted by Denise L also wondering....I think we are going with the ultimate wedding package, and I know the basic set up is included, but is it in fact an extra $12 on top of that per chair bow with flowers That seems crazy expensive if we are having 30 guests we have to pay an additional $360 just for the bows!!!! Any insight would be great! Thx
  12. Tracy is right, they are amazing. We used them at our cocktail hour last week and the guests loved them!! My husband and I got to hear the last 20 minutes or so. I would definitely recommend them for your cocktail hour, they'll keep your guests entertained and all together while you and your husband are off having pictures taken. I only wish we could've had them longer! About the safes, we used ours every single day. We did have a couple of problems with ours in two different rooms, but we just had to call the front desk to send someone down to re-set it. About how much was it? Can you use an MP3 player to play music for the ceremony on the beach? Sorry I had more than I thought. Thanks ladies. Sounds like everyone has had a great time so far. I'm getting so excited!!
  13. I am selling 2 bridesmaids dresses by Melissa Sweet. Style MS215. The color is French Blue. These dresses have never been worn or altered. The sizes are 4 and 8. These dresses ran about one size big on most of my 5 bridesmaids. The only fitted part of the dress is the bust, so they are easy to alter. I am selling these b/c 2 of my bridesmaids were unable to make it to my wedding. The pic shown is of my MOH this past week in her dress (sorry I couldn't post one of better quality). The dress comes with a detatchable bow in back, as shown online at this link: Style MS215 | Priscilla of Boston If ordered from a shop (and not many in my area carry the line), these dresses will take at least 4 months to come in and cost around $235-$260 (my first quote was $265). I am asking $200 for each dress and I ship them free of charge within the US. I would prefer to sell them together. PM me if you are interested.
  14. Hi girls. My new husband and I just returned from Dreams on Saturday and everything was wonderful! I met Tracy down there and I have to agree with her; no one should worry or stress out too much over anything! Landy and Anabel are great and will go over each detail with all of you when you arrive. I wasn't able to do a planning thread before I left because I was too busy with work and last minute details, but I think I'd still like to post one. I drew a lot of thought and inspiration from the ladies on this forum and brides to be might appreciate having more examples of those things. I'll try to do my review in the next week! Thanks to everyone for all of the helpful information and answers to my questions. Blkatz, we were going to have our rehearsal dinner at World Cafe (buffet restaurant) cause there is no service charge per head over 10 people. It just happened to be closed that evening because of a Mexican fiesta with a buffet in the entertainment area next to El Patio. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise b/c Landy reserved 45 seats for us at the fiesta. The guests had tons of fun b/c there was entertainment and TONS of Mexican food surrounding the tables. The only thing some brides might not like is that there would be about 300 other people there--not at all private. If there is a fiesta buffet on your rehearsal night, I would definitely recommend that for your dinner! Otherwise, the world cafe would work with no additional charges.
  15. Hey Sunbride, I wasn't sure if I should have updated this before, or if I should've just waited until I returned from Dreams so that I can post a link to a review...but here is my update anyway! Trip to Tulum ruins. DJ Mannia for reception. See my review for: to come... I am hoping to get my planning thread done tomorrow...although I haven't a CLUE how to go about it!! Our flight leaves Tuesday morning, but we leave Monday night at 10 p.m. to stay overnight near the airport. I can't believe it's here already! I want to thank you, Sunbride, and everyone else (in advance) for the wealth of knowledge provided on this forum. It has helped tremendously; I honestly don't think I would have gotten nearly as much planning done if it weren't for being a part of this!
  16. What is the standard tipping for a dj (not the resort dj)? How much has everyone tipped Mannia in the past?

Although it does say in the guide price subject to change, so they do have the right, but still I think it's not very fair if you've made arrangements based on a certain price. I like where your mind is at! In fact, I should bring all of my correspondence with the staff down there...just in case. Oh, and I should've known Lizet wasn't there anymore...too much restructuring!
  20. Thanks, Sunbride! I know I had a lot of questions...I just have more things swirling around in my head now that I'm leaving in less than 2 weeks--and my Mom keeps asking me things! Still wondering about the dress codes for restaurants...do the guys need to be in slacks or can they wear jeans? I know somewhere on this forum there was a discussion about bringing all of the welcome stuff down there, just can't remember where. Maybe on another thread? Would it be too suspicious to bring all of our welcome bag stuff down in boxes rather than luggage?

Hmmm...Anabel told me that we would have to go by the new wedding guide, despite the fact that we confirmed our wedding '07!!!!!! Maybe I should talk to Lizet instead.
  22. Hey everyone! I can't believe how time has flown by. My bridesmaids dresses JUST came in last night!! Now I need to ship them to my out of state girls and hope they can get alterations in time. I know BC Bride2be is getting married the day before me...maybe some of us girls can meet up for a margarita sometime. Anyone in? I'll be there from the 20th to 30th. Now that the day is quickly approaching, I have been bombarded with questions from friends and relatives that I cannot answer. I was hoping some of you girls could help me out! 1. Did anyone use the electronic safes in the rooms to store your passports, ids, money, etc.? 2. My fiance and I would rather bring stuff down in boxes, rather than in suitcases, so that we don't have extra luggage to bring back with us. Has anyone else done this successfully? Will we get haggled by customs more if we take everything in boxes? 3. Do we need to make reservations for any of the restaurants? Or can you just walk in with a small group? Dress codes--I think I heard something about having to dress up for a few of them. Is this true? 4. If anyone brings their own curling iron/straightener, do they need adapters for the electrical outlets? I was thinking not, but just checking. And then one question from me-- 5. I recently saw a list of flowers on this forum that some resorts in Los Cabos has, but I didn't see anything specific to Dreams Tulum. Does anyone remember some of the different flowers they have (besides what is in the packet--roses and lilies)? I know exactly what colors I want (green, purple, and white) and have a few options ready for when I go down, but was hoping I'd have a better idea of what the florist can do before I leave. Do they have peonies, ranunculus, or hydrangeas? I think I saw someone write in a post that they have dahlias. How much more expensive is it to have some green cimbidium orchids in the mix? That's all for now--but I'm sure I'll have a few more in another week or so! Thanks everyone!
  23. I think that the size of the dance floor changes, as does the cost, depending on how many people you have. So if Amy had more than 30 guests (plus her wedding was in Tulum), they'd have charged her more for the extra "squares". I just booked Mannia, too! After reading all of the positive feedback, I'm happy I decided not to go with the iPod and docking station at Dreams Tulum! I think my guests will truly appreciate having him.
