They then upgraded us - it took about an extra 20 minutes for them to get everything ready, but no worries since we were drinking mimosas and exploring the resort (they bring your bags to the room).

The cost for the legalization is not included in the wedding package" Our only issue was that I've heard horror stories about the blood test and all the paperwork. At this resort you don't have to be married first, so we were able to say our vows, etc. for the first time, then came home and completed the paperwork at the courthouse. It was so much easier...

The person is only coming for a long weekend so they will loose the 1 certifacte they get for the ala carte sicee it will be used for the wedding dinner. Which makes me feel bad so for those that are upset I would like to buy them a certificate is that possible? I am hoping to have a welcome dinner and rehersal dinner for everyone at the buffet so people will not notice. Which wedding package are you choosing? The reason I ask was because we did the deluxe religious ceremony and they didn't ask for anything from our guests for the dinner. All of our guests still booked their same amt. of dinners outside of our reception. One thing that you should be aware of is that in general it is hard to book the A la carts...when we showed up on Wed. there were no good times available until like Saturday. That was my only complaint about the resort is the difficulty in booking those.
  5. I'm sure it's different for everyone. I reserved the date for our May 24th wedding in January, but I heard I was really lucky and that there must have been a cancellation. There is no fee to reserve it so I would go ahead and do it ASAP. This will give you first pick for location and the disco if you decide to book it. Good luck and congrats! )

As for the cash... yup, our DJ had to be paid in cash, in full before the event. As for our private reception, that we paid on our credit card at the end of the stay. Yeah, that is great that she did that for you! I tried to mention something like that to Jazmin and it was a no go for us!

The prices are the same for what we had after our dinner for the reception. A little pricy for a rehearsal dinner. There is plenty of room in the lobby bars for everyone to meet, although it would have to be after dinner and it isn't quite as nice. That's just if you want to have a central meeting place for everyone to meet the night before...Also, I didn't know until right before I left that you need cash for the DJ for these type of dinners / receptions. The only additional things we did was have his sister read a poem and we each took some time to say some things about each other before our vows. You can specify whether you want a Christian based wedding, etc. I really can't believe how smoothly everything went because the pastor showed up a tad late, and yet everything was perfect. So if you have specific things that you want, you just have to let them know and she'll tell the pastor. They are very accomodating...
  9. The beds are hard. With that being said, you can ask for a mattress cover / cushion thing that is supposed to be softer at the front desk. We never got around to it and were OK with the beds, but a few of our guests requested these and said it was a bit more comfortable.
  10. LOL, yeah, one of our guests was quite the entertainer - jumped (floundered in actually) in at the end of the reception. We were RIGHT by the pool, but Jazmin did say that there were other locations. I would email her to see if there are any that aren't by the pool if you are worried about that...
  11. Thank you! I would confirm with Jazmin but I don't see how they could justify that because the $5.00 is for alcoholic beverages only...I didn't have any children at mine to know for sure, though.
  12. Here are some initial pictures taken by our family and friends. I'll post the ones from Claudia / Citalli when I get them! Kodakgallery.com*Join now and receive beautiful photographic prints from your camera
  13. Yes, well I found out TWO weeks before the wedding that the disco was booked for my night already. Nice, huh? So you may want to confirm that that is even available for your date. You do have to pay extra for the private reception, but it's $150 an hour for the DJ and $5 per hour for drinks per person ($3 pp after the first hour). After being in the disco, I'm really glad we had it poolside. It's much prettier than the disco and seemed more personal and private.
  14. LOL...I don't mind. I had a million questions too! We 30 guests and so we had our dinner in the Tequila restaurant and then walked right outside to the poolside reception (DJ and drinks only). It was honestly perfect and cheaper than paying for the private meal. THe crazy thing was that we were the ONLY people in the Tequila restaurant. Our wedding was at 5, dinner at 6:30, and reception at 8:30. Of course everything ran a little late so the timing actually ended up being perfect. The DJ didn't have the best music choices and didn't say anything over the mic, so we just handed him our Ipod and made our own announcements on the microphone they had set up for us.
  15. Awww...thanks! You don't even want to know how lucky I got on the dress. Yes, we did the religious ceremony, but they still have you sign a certificate with two witnesses, it's just not the legal paperwork. LOL. And the hair was the only hiccup in the day. Yes, I got my hair done there in the Akumal Spa (the Tulum side doesn't have a salon). It was awful. I mean AWFUL. I brought a picture similar to the final product in the pictures with 6 different angles. When I walked out I looked like she had smeared candle wax all over my head! LITERALLY. Luckily I had it done at 11 so I went home and washed it and one of my friends came to the rescue. She was amazing and did it in like 15 minutes! The lady in the spa couldn't speak english so there was no way of communicating with her. I definitely would recommend a practice round if you have them do it. I did see a girl the day before having hers done and it was a different stylist. She wore hers in curls half up and it looked really good, however I did see her at the end of the night and it looked like the curls were gone. It was SUPER windy and I'm soooo glad my hair was up and out of my face. And my sister did my makeup - so I got lucky there...
  16. No...it's kind of nice...that is the one thing you don't need to put a deposit down on! )

  18. FYI - we used our IPOD at our reception. The DJ had no problems playing from it. 19. LOL. TRUST me I wish I could!!! I have all the pictures from friends posted on my myspace right now. Not sure if you have one of those but if you do, send me a friend request - it's MySpace.com - www.myspace.com/56369849 and you can see the wedding ones from there. I'll be checking it this evening. If not I'll try to get them posted here soon! )
  20. We were told that there were none of these rooms. My parents and sister THOUGHT they were getting this and turns out theirs was a regular room with three beds. Kind of stinks but it was something my sister inferred rather than actually confirming what the room actually was. QUOTE=Tlseege;393988]Ah ha, the joining rooms question! RUMOR has it that there are some... RUMOR also has it that they are only on the first floor... RUMOR also has it that they are the two double bed rooms... RUMOR also has it that they are standard rooms only. Now, key word being RUMOR! None of our guests had joining rooms and we never saw any... but then again... we really didn't go into people's rooms!
  21. Yay! Well I just got back on Wed. from our wedding on the 24th. I am at work now and will write more of an in depth review later and post some of our non-professional pics. All I have to say is that it was perfect. It was a fairy tale wedding. Jazmin was super great and sweet, and Citalli with Claudia Photo was also great to work with. I have no complaints / regrets and wish I could still be there! ) Hope that helps settle any nerves that people had - I know I was worried with the email communication from the resort. They really do know what they're doing - it's what they do and they're great at it.
  22. AHHHHH!!!!! I leave in two days!!!!! I'm so scatterbrained right now! Wish me luck. I'll be posting pictures in a couple weeks! )
  23. Oh really!? She did a private reception area for you? Was that for your actual reception after the wedding or for a cocktail party the night before? Either way that is great!
  24. FYI in case anyone's interested, my mother in law emailed Jazmin to find out prices for a cocktail party the night before...she sent us these pictures and the prices. We're going to just all end up meeting at a bar instead because it seemed a bit pricy, but just in case anyone else is wondering... 1. 25. Your pictures are gorgeous! How much extra is it to have a private reception by the pool? Just curious! Thanks!
