OMG what a crazy charge! This is a stupid move on Melia's part if they want to keep up their wedding business! Photography is soo important to most brides, and I don't think anyone will pick that resort if they're stuck paying that price.
If it was me, and I had an outside photographer and it was too late to switch I'd probably just pay for a room for the photographer for the night ($200 a night versus $1000)

Mexican trios usually involve a guitar, bass, and harp or vocalist. If you go to youtube.com and search mexican trio you will find a bunch of samples of their music

I'm using wine stoppers shaped like a starfish. They're not too expensive and don't take up a lot of space in my suitcase (then again I only ordered 25) and they fit my theme

~*~ UPDATE ~*~
I just wanted add to Crystal's post that I emailed her a 3rd time and I got a response right away! She wasn't able to get my calls/email before because she was away for the weekend. She promised me that I WILL get my flowers in time and that I don't have to worry. I feel much more reassured now, and will keep everyone posted!

I actually really love the blonde.. It really compliments your skin tone. However, as you've only been blonde for a few months, you might prefer to have your natural hair colour for your wedding photos.. I would go with highlighted brown hair so you can have the best of both worlds!

From what I've heard on the forum, Melia Caribe is charging $1000 if you use an outside photographer, so if photos are important, this is probably one to stay away from

I'm am SOOO stressed out. My legal wedding (which is in a church) is in less than 6 DAYS and I haven't received my flowers from Bittersweet yet! I've emailed Crystal and called her twice and she hasn't replied! I haven't even seen photos of what my flowers look like! It is too late to get a florist now so I'm scared I won't even have a bouquet!! I have heard that she's been sick lately and I'm very sorry to hear that but at the same time, if you are overworked, you need to hire an assistant temporarily to at least answer phone calls and emails.. I have had so many sleepless nights over this, since I've paid my deposit and now it looks like it's totally lost and I have still have no flowers and no one is replying to me!!

Oooh there are soo many nice things on here!

I'm paying just under $400 Cdn for 3 centerpieces, 3 bridesmaid bouquets, 1 bridal bouquet, and 3 boutonieres...

Beautiful pictures! Sounds like you had a wonderful time! Can't wait to read your review!

Absolutely gorgeous bouquet!

Originally, it was just going to be both sets of parents, grandparents (couldn't come to the DW), and a one sibling.. Then friends who are not able to come to the DW really wanted to be there for the legal wedding so they are coming as well. IWe're just going out for a quiet dinner after the legal wedding, but no reception. I've never really kept it a secret that my destination wouldn't be legal but I have made it clear that my destination wedding was my dream wedding and most important one. In the end, I think people are happy just to be present at your ceremony regardless if it's a legal one or not.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! I'm Canadian (but from Vancouver though), and getting married at Paradisus Punta Cana next month.. Feel free to PM me or post here if you have any questions on the resort

Thanks for the post Crystal! Hope you're feeling better! Thanks for working so hard for us brides -
Congrats! The hardest part is over

I agree with Debs.. I've been to Puerto Plata and it's not that great, but Punta Cana is considered to have one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

I stayed at the resort which is right next to Royal Solaris and when I was there (about 6 mths ago) Royal Solaris did not look well kept (lots of construction, one of the pools closed off, etc). Actually there only seemed to be a handful of people there. It did not look like a very nice place to stay when you look at the hotels that are near it... I think you would be disappointed if you had a wedding there... However, if you're into Royal Solaris, I've heard the one in Cancun is excellent and nothing like the one in Cabo.

My FI and I were looking at wedding bands for him, and when we came across some tungsten bands that he liked, the jeweller told us not to get them! He said that there are no tools available to cut through tungsten so if the ring becomes too small or if you get in an accident and need it cut off, the only way to do it is to use extreme heat that would burn the skin off of your finger to the bone, or to go to the hospital and have them break/dislocate your finger in order to get the ring off!
Is this total B.S.? This is the second jeweller who's warned us against tungsten, but the first one didn't go into this detail (he just said it couldn't be resized)...
Any info on this would be much appreciated!

I didn't even realize that Michaels did boquets until I saw it in this thread. It looks pretty impressive. Hope this helps! -

I tried emailing you over a week ago to see when I should be receiving my flower order, as you had told me that I would receive them the first week of July if not a little sooner.
I haven't heard back from you so I'm not sure if I'm sending emails to the wrong address, or if you're just catching up after your illness (hope you're feeling better, by the way!) and haven't gotten to mine yet...
Anyway, if you could let me know when you think the flowers will be ready (my legal wedding is july 24th), that would be wonderful!
Thanks!

I'm not sure how much the horse and carriage is at Melia, but it's $200 (for 2009) for the day at Paradisus Punta Cana, and melia is owned by Paradisus, so I'm guessing it will be around that price..

I haven't added up the total cost yet, but for 21 people it's looking to be around 14000 travel included... I still have some odds and ends to add that cost, but so far I think it's reasonable..
How to get people to RSVP
in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos

The whole RSVP thing is so frustrating! I didn't bother having a reply card for people to send out as I knew from previous weddings that I've gone to that barely anyone is nice enough to send them back! I asked people to email or call to RSVP instead. Even that didn't work that well, as I just found out TODAY that 2 people (who didn't rsvp and who I thought weren't coming) booked last week!
