  3. I have booked a bridal hairstyle and makeup application. This is what the pricing she quote me looks like:

    1 Bride's Hairstyle U$ 105.-

    1 Make Up U$ 51.-

    SUBTOTAL = U$ 156.- x 10 % discount (U$ 15.60) X 16.50% taxes (U$ 23.16 ) = U$ 163.56

    3 Special Hairstyles (3 x BM) U$ 85.- U$ 255.-

    1 Shampoo & Blow Dry (1 x MOB) U$ 45.-

    SUBTOTAL = U$ 300.- x 5% discount (U$ 15.-) X 16.50% taxes (U$ 47.02 ) = U$ 332.02

    TOTAL = U$ 495.58

    50% down payment = U$ 248.-

    I am not going with the package that includes the mani/pedi as of right now because of time constraints.

    I am scheduled to be there at 8am for my 12 noon wedding. I think she has me in for about 2 hours based on the times of the other's appointments as well.

    I'll have mani/pedi before I leave here, and possibly just redo my nails myself the day before.

  4. There is an extra cost to having tables and chairs put out at the Seagrape for your post-dinner reception ($5pp). I'm not sure if there are any linens or anything or whether it's just tables and chairs.

    If you do the whole dinner/dancing reception at the Seagrape, I know they go all out and do linens, candles, tiki torches etc.

    I don't know how far they go just for the drinking/dancing part. Sorry, this might not have been any help...lol... Let me know what you get done! I'm doing the same thing as you... but in 99days!

  5. You give/post or however you want to let people know that may be buying you gifts the link to the registry and they can leave you "money" there to put towards your honeymoon trip. It's basically like giving cash but the money is intended to go towards the trip in question. You can take this money out anytime (minus 7.5% that the company charges) to put towards your trip or whatever else you were planning for it.

    I think the idea is that most people tend to give more (and it's pretty convenient) with their credit card rather than cash and it feels good for the guests to actually be contributing to something other than just handing over cash.

    The website has a really good Q&A section...

  6. I think the Seagrape normally closes early-ish (6-7:00 maybe). $10 pp extra is basically to pay the bartender, and have the bar open. I struggled with the thought of paying for drinks too, however, when I started thinking of it going to pay the staff and not for the drinks, I came to terms with it quicker. :)

  7. We arrive in Jamaica on a Saturday night (late, around 11pm by the time we get to the resort).

    We get married Tuesday at noon.

    So that leaves us with having Sunday and Monday free.

    When should we do our welcome dinner?

    Sunday - as a welcome to Jamaica/resort

    Monday - as a rehearsal dinner the night before wedding.

    I'm thinking Sunday to give people time to get their heads about them before Tuesday. And I'll try to get a hair trial that day (are they open on Sunday's?) and have nice hair for that night.

    But if we do Monday, then it'll seem more wedding-ish (maybe?) and it'll probably take my mind off of worrying about the next day.

    FH and I haven't decided if we are going to spend the night before together or apart yet if that makes any difference.

    Thanks in advance!

  8. I ordered my dress online. I don't get it until the end of November/early December. It was (and still is) pretty nerve wracking.

    I tried it on in a store up here that was having financial difficulties so I wasn't keen on ordering from them. So i found somewhere in the US that is an authorized Maggie Sottero dealer and called and ordered. I saved myself 200+ on the dress and got lots of freebies (jewlery, garter, veil) with no taxes and free shipping. So I definitely got a good deal. (I hope)

    HOWEVER, the night I ordered I had nightmares that it arrived with holes and it was obviously worn before etc. So it turns out I was pretty stressed out and worried about buying it online (no wedding related nightmares since).

    But I went with it. I figured what the hell. I'd take the chance.

    I guess come December I'll see.

    However, I do know of other brides who used other websites to order dresses (netbride) and same with BM dresses that came in as ordered and expected.

  9. I am not a big fan of Boutonniere's and I was leaning towards not having them. Just the bride bouquet and small BM ones.

    Do you think that it's silly?

    Has anyone else not had them?

    I'm a somewhat "plain/not busy" person and I think that I would like the pictures to be less busy (and especially since the Groomsmen are going to be pretty casual)

    My dress is gold color, he's wearing a beige linen suit, and the BM/GM clothes are hopefully going to be yellow (men wearing beige pants or shorts). We won't really be having any white anywhere now that I think about it.

    I'm having a hard time "seeing" it all together. I feel like with bouquets and Boutonniere's it might be too busy.

  10. I chose the Seagrape because I wanted the beach, the ocean sounds etc, and my TA recommended it based on other weddings she booked there. So I went with it.

    I am not interested in the disco at all, not sure why. Figured we could do that almost any night there. I wanted something more "Jamaican", something warm and different than any other reception I ever went to...

    More and more people are choosing the poolside, and after I thought about it, it seems like such a great idea - the pool lights, the hard surface, that pool smell.... I think that's a great idea too!

    We are also having dinner at 6:30 and the Seagrape at 8:30... Marnie&Peter and I have alot of the same things in common - we're sharing the same date! She's doing the Poolside and me the Seagrape, both with the Mammee Bay dinner! :)
