  1. Sad to say, I think that this was the worst part of the planning experience. People don't understand why you need these numbers......for seating purposes, food, number of tables (which leads to number of centerpieces), cake size, number of favors, welcome bags........... basically EVERYTHING!!! Try not to worry. Just continue to check with your TA and if you are cutting it close and running out of time, as much as I hate this, start making phone calls.

I have narrowed it down to a few resorts in the riviera Maya, Riu being one of them. Anything good/Bad about them?
Hi Jessygrl!! It sounds like you've narrowed it down to 2 great resorts!! Since I recently got married at Riu, I can speak from experience and say that Riu was perfect for my large sized group, however, there were some minor issues. Please visit my Riu review (link provided in siggy below) and let me know if you have any specific questions. Congrats on your wedding!
  3. Hi all! After 7 years of corporate planning and 2 years of planning weddings as a side gig, I'm finally venturing into doing it FULL TIME!! Yayyycheer2.gif The resort that I got married provided an on-site wedding planner, but truthfully, she did not capture my full vision and I wish that I had someone else there (like me......lol), to make sure that all of those tiny little details that I spent HOURS, DAYS, WEEKS, MONTHS, working on were carried out. It was just impossible to do all the things that us BDW brides must do, like...........the welcome bags, favors, centerpieces, itineraries, budget, meetings (florist, baker, entertainment, minister, reception / ceremony site,) and still make much needed time for me.......the bride. So that's why I'm here........So you can sit back, relax, and truly enjoy your day!

I am currently running an introductory booking special just for my BDW brides discounting 40% off until November. Please refer to my website (marshaseventplanning ) for general information. I am willing to work with almost any budget depending on your needs. Feel free to email me at [email protected] or PM me!!

    Thanks ladies!!!

I also have natural hair (the pic in my siggy is old) and I am dreading having to do it. I still have no clue what I am going to do. I guess I better bring my own straightening comb also. The humidity in Jamaica is no joke! ARRGGHH!smile27.gif

    Congratulations on a beautiful wedding!

Thanks so much Myda!!! Not to discourage you, but there was NO WAY that my hair would have held up in that humidity. I brought EVERYTHING.......pressing comb, ceramic irons, blow dryers........you name it...i brought it!!! I was really disappointed that I couldn't have my inspirational style, but it all worked out. I got alot of compliments on my bun and Audrey really did a great job!

    It's in the slide show:

A Show of Slides!: Marsha and Brian - Punam Bean Blog. - Punam Bean Photography

She only had 2 pics in it, but they are in there towards the end during the reception. When I get my full copies of all the pics, I will post tons of them.

Thanks Neema! It took me 4 years to grow it out. I was living the "lye" for a good minute, but I'm so glad that I went back to being natural!! As far as the wedding planning, I took a semi- break because I was focusing on MY WEDDING......but I just did another wedding in Jersey last Sunday and it was wonderful. The bride is in the Dominica Republic right now on her honeymoon but the minute she gets back, I'll try to sneak some pics from her and post.......bunny_4.gif

I do have a quick question. In your opinion do you think it is best to hire the DJ for the Plantation for the full 4 hours of the reception? I am having around 100 guests and wasn't too sure about having to change locations for a third time to the Disco. Is the Plantation suitable for a complete reception with dancing?

Thanks so much! It depends on what you want. For the plantation, depending on the size of your group, there is limited dancing room. If you have a small group, I would definitely recommend staying at the plantation for the full 4 hours, but if you have a large group, your space will be limited for dancing (however, you won't feel rushed with dinner).

Since we booked the disco at 9:0pm and I had a pretty large group, we kinda felt like we had to hurry up and eat, and get everything done before we went over to the disco, so it pretty much depends on what's priority to you.
