  1. I know I'm just trying to figure out how much it is going to cost us per guest...we have about 50 guests staying past Monday, (47 leaving Monday) and our trip is Monday afternoon, so I'm not sure how many of them will opt to come.
  2. So my parents and I are treating our guests to a trip down to Hidden Worlds and to the Tulum ruins. When speaking the the Hidden Worlds rep, he said the Tulum ruins entrance fee is probably around 85 pesos, based on his last visit to Chichenitza ruins - can any confirm this huge increase? I heard last it was 45 pesos!
  3. they are natural (the ones i received) - i can try to take a photo tonight
  4. i'm nervous that the stuff will show on the outside, especially if I don't cut so well on the edge?
  5. Do you know the brand of the suit? Also, how did you feel getting up at 6a.m. after your wedding? I guess I could buy another dress, but...
  6. I'm a little nervous about screwing up the iron on, and since these are kind of the primary present, I thought screenprinting would look more "real" or something. Yours look good in the photo - do you have a close-up? Also, what size was your logo?
  7. I'm definitely willing to pay the $3.25, but I really think you should report him to the BBB after you receive the pashminas. This is really bullshit and the $.50 difference per piece is a significant percentage markup when you think about it - especially when you are ordering a ton of pashminas. Something to work out (price markup, etc.) for the BBB letter. How soon will these be able to come? I was hoping to wrap them per cheesediva's method and then bring them with me when I go for my shower in NY in a couple wks so that my parents can bring them on the plane...
  8. Well - hopefully a pashmina in each girl's one. Then I was going to have drinking mugs but my FI doesn't like any of the - anyone have suggestions of nice ones? Or something else if I don't do mugs? Travel candles (though that doesn't take up much room). I don't know I need to put something in but I have 74 and don't want to spend a zillion $$$. I'm already paying an extra $3.31 per bag to screenprint them...
  9. Becky - where did you get your groom's suit? It looks really nice. And you shoes? Great photos - glad Elizabeth's my photographer . I wonder if I can get photos like your trash the dress session photos but right after the wedding ceremony, and without trashing my dress?
  10. Ordered 74 of the 18" ones: Cool Totes I should probably go through the box and count to make sure they are all there but the box is HEAVY! 42 pounds! I ordered on Friday, they came in on Tuesday. I live in the same state though. The canvas is sturdy and nice quality. The handles are shorter than I expected - fine for wearing over the shoulder if you are a woman, but not really enough room for a guy - my FI tried it and fit it over his arm, but it looked kinda weird, you know? He tells me that guys don't carry things that way anyway - they'd just hold the handle in their hands. Do you think that is true? The bag is definitely big - big enough for guests to stuff 2 towels, water, books, and sunglasses for the beach, which was the point for me. The pocket is one large pocket divided down the middle into 2 - which is not what I expected (I thought it would be a layering of 2 pockets. I guess I can put the welcome letter in one side and the spanish/english translations in the other, if I want everything to be even. I was planning on a 4" logo but now that it is so wide, I'm thinking of increasing the size to 5 1/2 " or 6". Gotta go work on that (don't think I can automatically resize in ms publisher - lmk if I'm wrong!)
  11. Uh oh - I already ordered them. Although I'm having 97 adults, some of them are couples (though so many people are coming w/o sig others!), so I am only needing 70 placecards for the adults, and maybe 9 for the kids? Or maybe I can do kids of the same family together, so 6 for the kids = 76? My plan for tying the card to the sand dollar - the sand dollars have little sliver holes in them and you slide a piece of ribbon through it, then hole punch a small placecard size card and put the ribbon through that and tie it. Hopefully it'll work! I have to figure out what to do though because the sand dollar is white so a white place card would be kinda boring, but you can't really print on dark brown and I haven't found a good turquoise or aqua paper. Maybe I'll print on labels and put them on dark brown paper stock.
  12. Qualityshells.com (seemed to be the cheapest legit site, with cheaper rates for 100+ and 5% off your first order.
  13. I'm going to print separate rectangle placecards and tie them to the sand dollars with a ribbon. My handwriting sucks , and I like the separate but tied look better. Ok 100 it is!
  14. trying to figure out how many extra to buy if I need 75 for placecards - just in case of breakage...
  15. So it turns out the so called jazz band - called Chivo Azul - will not take requests and will not play the hora. I looked them up and they seem more blues than jazz, but maybe they play jazz at weddings? Anyhow, I'm not sure if I should just stick with them for dinner music, and dance with cd to hora and after dinner with DJ. My WC is looking into another band, but meanwhile, if anyone has any suggestions (besides the balance band) ...
  16. I posted on the other similar one, but here is a reply to the various aspects of this post: I picked Riviera Maya area b/c - 1. Cheaper beach hotel rates than Santa Monica, Laguna Beach, or Santa Barbara, all of which are near me, and I wanted all my guests to have a mini-vacation together. 2. Kind of in btwn NY and Los Angeles (my pref would have been Hawaii or Caribbean island, both of which I frequent, or Cabo, which is closer to me and has surfing). 3. Direct flights available from most major airports (unlike Hawaii, Caribbean, or Cabo from one caost vs. the other). 4. Cheaper hotel rates for guests than Hawaii, Caribbean, or Cabo. 5. More swimmable beaches than Cabo (though I'm disappointed in the water in Riviera Maya compared with Hawaii and Caribbean. I picked my wedding venue - Al Cielo Hotel b/c - 1. Location is very private - not too many hotels around it. 2. Feels like a remote location that is truly different than what I might find in CA or FL or anywhere else. 3. Rustic chic / elegant 4. Not sure if this is a bad one but, since I'm having a large group of guests and would have had to pay a lot to have a private wedding at an All-Inclusive, this way the guests would realize that we are paying for the wedding instead of assuming incorrectly that it is free. Of course, we still ended up spending a lot more at Al Cielo than at an AI, but the AI prices we were quoted for private wedding receptions were pretty high. 5. Food was pretty good and presented well. 6. Could handle our 100 guest group. I picked my resort - Grand Riviera Maya Princess b/c - 1. Due to just opening in 12/07, rates were 1/2 the price of the other resorts we looked at and we wanted to make the vacation worthwhile for our guests. 2. Rates, to allow our less well-off friends and family to be able to come. 3. Rates, to encourage our well-off friends and family to stay longer. 4. Even though it is a big resort (which is the opposite of what I wanted), the design of the buildings and resort seems pretty tasteful and pretty. 5. No buildings or other hotels in direct view of the beach. 6. Good food reviews. 7. Allows children (we have 9 guests under the age of 4 attending). 8. Can handle our 100 guest group. If I didn't have child guests, guests with budgets, and/or such a large group, or time limitations on finding a place, I would have picked: 1. Maroma hotel 2. Fairmont Mayakoba 3. A Karisma Hotel property 4. A cute little place in Tulum 5. One of the other upscale adults only AIs 6. Somewhere on Isla Mujeres or Cozumel If I really had my way I would have picked: 1. Maui or somewhere in HI, b/c my FI and I love HI 2. St. John or one of the BVIs (St. John is beautiful and I hear the BVIs are even more so) 3. Barbados (I hear it is beautiful and has surfing)
  17. I found these by accident today and happily ordered 9 packages: 10" Natural Raffia Fan (12 ct) Luau Party Supplies, Decorations, Leis I hope they arrive ok - I'll let you know when they do (by March 21 supposedly).
  18. The cheapest I can find the regular size are $2.49, where as the cheapest I can find the mini ones is $0.69, which in my case is a difference of almost $132. Maybe I should just find some other cool cards.
  19. I appreciate all the updates - thank you so much for following up continuously!!!
  20. Any word from the punkacheen? I remember you said you were going to call him yesterday? Sorry, just checking in!
  21. So the mini ones are cheap enough - but super mini - are they worth it? Playing cards while drinking and talking is fun - but is it impossible with such little cards? I don't know if it is worth buying the big ones though b/c I'd have to get 72 packs!
  22. thanks - ok so i think you're right and in my mind even tho the wood centerpieces are cool they are a little too zen-y for me, and not enough beachy-vibe. i just fear that the florist won't do what i want for the turquoise square - i fear she won't make them modern looking enough like i asked (she keeps pushing twds the messy look with lots of green stuff), but i guess i can take my chances. i can skip the conch shells altogether - tho the stairs idea is good. you're right that the turquoise candle holders might be overkill? i wonder if little glasses with the sand and tea-lights the venue provides will look ok or messy too. i'd rather not lug more stuff down.
  23. ha ha - no u should get your own stuff done i guess. but if anyone wants to - groom: my fiance is 6'6" so that is why i'm having trouble with what he will wear. we started off thinking a suit, but now he is thinking linen shirt and pants - but i want them to be nice and well-made and fancy seeming. rng: i love my engagement ring but i don't think i can wear a wedding band with it so i'm trying to figure out what i'd want to wear as a single wedding band. nothing seems to look good. flowers: i posted a question about centerpieces on the flowers, etc. section and only 1 person seemed to comment. why am i so indecisive? i just wanted something and i can't get it and now making choices and finding/communicating with a florist who is willing to do my back up options is difficult! oot/ceremony: i'm waiting on my final count - annoying stragglers! dj/hazz band - i think i'm going with both and just trusting the band is ok without hearing them first
