Brendan and I just booked our 1st Anniversary trip. I know it's about a year away, but I'm so excited we're going back.
The Hilton Los Cabos has a deal that if you get married there, they'll give you a special rate if you return for your first anniversary. So we decided to take advantage of this. We're actually not going until the middle of May 2009 since the Hilton was booked during the weeks in April that we wanted to go. That's fine with me, as long as we get back there.
Anyway, I keep checking the "Post your Wedding Date" thread to see if anyone is getting married in Cabo during the time we're going to be there. I'm trying to find a wedding to crash - LOL!!!

Oh, and they told me to make sure my name is on the mailbox or the postal carrier won't leave my new card. -
Beautiful dress. I LOVE the way it falls in the back.

Poor Brendan, I'm SOOOO Carrie - in the worse way.

I know, I called Brendan my boyfriend the other day. I'm having a hard time remembering that he is actually my husband now. -

Yes, I went with Queen of Queens just for you. And by the way, I was just thinkng of you. I'm watching the Mets game right now and there was a clip of Kevin James (who I know you LOVE) saying "Let's Go Mets" over and over and over, like a crazy man. He's sooo funny. Sorry to highjack my own thread - I always do that. -
Sorry I'm so late to this thread, but thanks for the info. I was wondering what happened to you and what was going on with all your planning. Everything sounds great. Don't be surprised if I crash your wedding that weekend. I'm a Nantucket girl (BIL's family has a house there) so I'm a sucker for Cape Cod.

Just remember, even non-alcoholic drinks are expensive too. Go over the drink price list they gave you and try to get an idea of how many drinks someone will have an hour and compare that to the Open Bar rate. I think there are less expensive open bar options too.
As for the comped bottled water and soda, tell Jaira that you are a member of BDW and that other Hilton brides have said that they had free bottled water and soda included with their dinners. See what she says. One thing about the Hilton, they have all these things they are willing to do for you, but only if you ask for them. The hard part is knowing what to ask for. -

Honestly, I don't know how you do it. Having to put a dog down would probably kill me. I keep telling my sister, I have to die before Bridget because I don't think I'll be ok when her time comes. -
OMG, I'm so sorry for your loss. I got chills when I read your thread. I hope and pray that you and your FI get through this ok. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm such a bitch, I would probably use every opportunity to remind them that we're paying and they're getting a free vacation.

Just a tip, I believe the SS office opens at 7:00AM everyday and Wednesday night they're open until 7:00PM. -

We paid $89 a person for 6 hours of Premium Open Bar. I know that sounds like a lot but it works out to about $14 a person an hour. I don't remember the drink prices but some drinks were $10 and up. And we knew our friends were going to be dinking more than one drink an hour. They were POUNDING the drinks, shots, you name it. I KNOW it worked in our favor to pay for it this way. Our bill would have been more than double if we paid on comsumption.
Are you at least getting bottled water and soda for free? -
YIKES!!! I was actually a little emotional over this. I've had the same name for over 35 years, I almost didn't want to change it. But I did. I actually moved my maiden name to a second middle name. So it's still there, but I don't have to use it unless I want to.
Anyway, for those of you in NY - if you live in Queens, you HAVE to go to the Jamaica office to do your name change. You can't mail it in or go to any other office. I waited on line for AN HOUR AND A HALF and then they almost gave me a hard time about the marriage certificate being in Spanish. Um, hello, this is QUEENS, NY - the most culturally diverse 514 square miles in the world (something like that.) SOMEONE here must be able to translate this thing. They had a supervisor do it. Oh, and I can read lips so I saw her saying behind the thick, bullet proof glass (yeah, welcome to Queens) that something was wrong on my marriage certificate. Nice, now I have to look into that. At least I'm done.
I called Brendan when I was done and told him I should have dragged his ass down there with me. Men suck that they don't have to deal with this stuff.

Once the wedding is over, don't be shy about voicing your dissatisfaction. Let her know you're pissed and that this is FAR FROM OVER. Make sure you leave with her sweating a little bit.

Ooooh, I have lots of advice for you.
You will be in the shade. Both terraces are right outside the resort so it's not like you have to walk far towards the beach or anything to get to them. The sun should be going behind you at that point.
As for drinks, we went with the open bar. As expensive as it was, we knew we would make out on this end of it. We have VERY HEAVY drinkers and if we paid on consumption, we would be broke. The prices per drink are expensive. One other thing, be sure to tell them NOT to just open wine and pour it unless someone asks for it. I can't remember who it was that said they had that problem, so you may want to make that clear.
Also, sign up for Hilton Honors Points and make sure it's in your contract that you'll receive points for the $$ spent on the wedding. This adds up and can then be used for another vacation somewhere. If this is not in your contract, they won't honor it. And make sure whatever name the HH points is in, is who the room is booked under. You'll get points for that too.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Congratulations!!! I love hearing good news and this is great. No use staying in any relationship that makes you miserable. Jobs included.
Enjoy the time off.
