  1. Louisa, it's great to hear that it went to well! I was working with Faith, but then she got promoted, and I got transferred to Monica, which has been a bit difficult. She takes forever to write me back, and then doesn't answer all of my questions. So they have me working with her and Rafaela now, who is apparently the boss. SO my point is that I was nervous about how it would turn out, but you have calmed my fears. So thanks! Amy, do you have the same issues with Monica? Or is it just me?
  2. I always have plain/regular oatmeal, made with milk instead of water. When it comes out of the microwave I put in the following: Cinnamon Ground Flax Seed (for omega 3s/protein) Raw unprocessed honey (for flavor and good minerals) Some sort of berries. It ends up being very tasty and very healthy : )
  3. Susan, I am glad you said strength training, because that is definitely the way to go. Cardio is great for the heart, but strength training burns fat hours after you have stopped working out. And the more lean muscle you have the more fat you burn. When I started stregth training (and eating healthy) I lost about 7% body fat in less than a year. I made the guy do the test again because I didn't believe him! Paul Chek is a leader in the industry, and he is really great because he encorporates all major muscle groups into each movement. It's not only about meeting your goals, but also about meeting your bodies needs. My trainer is Chek certified, and she is amazing. Here is the link to his website, and maybe you could find a trainer in your area. practitioner Search Page Mercola is also a great resource on how to eat healthy: http://www.mercola.com/ Between the two of these, I have changed my way of thinking and feel better than I ever have. Good luck with everything!
  4. Heidi, Thank you so much for posting those...they are awesome! I might enlist your help. First I have to decide what I like, what our colors are, and where I will be using them...and then I might shoot you a message. Thanks again!
  5. Haha, I was wondering about whether you all had jobs! I've found that I can't really read it at work bc I get sucked in, and before I know it an hour has passed, and then I get nothing done! Addiction! Maria, I would LOVE to try to make it myself, so the password would be great. Thank you and everyone so much for all your help!
  6. Lisa, I am not getting married at a resort, but I am staying at the Gran Caribe Real in Cancun. I had a bad experience once--a lady did my makeup at the Clinique counter before a high school dance, and it was so awful and unnatural, that people we commenting on it all night! So I am just a little nervous, and wanted to get recommendations. I will def. do the hair at home before, and taking lots of photos is a great idea. So thanks!
  7. Thank you guys so much! How on earth do you write back so quickly? The only reason I was able to check again was because I am a little under the weather today, and therefore not at work. I'm probably going to sound silly, but two questions: 1) How on earth do you make it yourself? 2) What do you guys mean by 'you made 10?' Do you mean that you picked 10 different designs, and then picked one to be the final one? I will most likely use one of the websites posted, but if you say it is so easy to make it yourself, I may do that! I mean, I have 8 months
  8. Hi everyone! The one thing I am most concerned about is who is going to do my hair and makeup. I will not be doing a site visit, so I can't get a trial run on these. To me this is one of the most important things, because those photos are forever! So does anyone have any suggestions on either of these? Sol Tamargo has given me two that I plan to email, but I want to see if you guys had any other suggestions.
  9. As I read through all the very helpful posts, I am most taken by the fact that so many of you have lovely logos/monagrams! I'm guessing not all of you are graphic design artists, so where did you get them? They are all so cute!
  10. I haven't had anyone outright ask for themselves either, but I have heard through the grapevine that people are upset their children weren't invited. We didn't even want to invite these people in the first place (FMIL forced us to), much less their children! If they are that offended, we hope they don't come! Sounds like your coworker has some issues within herself that she is laying on you...it's not your job to make her feel included, and weddings are definitely not the situation where anyone has a right to feel "left out." You weren't invited for a reason....that doesn't mean you aren't liked, but for most of us DW brides it just means you are not one of the 20 people I love most on the world.
  11. Natasha, that document is HILARIOUS! MY FI and were laughing out loud the whole time!
  12. I have recently been thinking about this, and I was thinking of engraving some beer stein's for each of the single guys coming. I figure a cute tote bag for women/couples, but they single guys shouldn't loose out bc they are single guys! I also liked the idea of the Nalgene bottle that I saw in a different post, and the koozie.
  13. You guys are hilarious! I was going to get a "Boat and Tote" bag from LL Bean, and as I went to find the link, found that the colors I wanted are gone! Hopefully they'll come back before my wedding! They used to have cute Rugby striped with dark blue, but now it's crazy bright colors...which may not work for EVERYONE. Anyway, I guess my point is to check out "Boat and Tote" Rugby stripe bags on the LL Bean website. If you like the colors, the little tote is so cute!
  14. We aren't getting married at a resort, but the place we are getting married is affiliated with a resort, and they wanted us to use theirs. What we did is put our photographers on our guest list, so they are technically our guests/friends who happen to be excellent photographers. I don't know if you could do something similar, but you could certainly try!
  15. Mikki, there always seems to be silence when you make a good point, doesn't there?!? Dee, sounds like you have even more problems than I do! Isn't it so crazy? I'm sorry about your parents...it's sad for you, but it is also their loss. I hope all the parents involved realize eventually what they are doing and come to their senses. They think they know best, but really all they are doing is pushing you farther away, which is the probably the opposite of what they are trying to do. If you are ever in NYC let me know and we can meet up! It totally helps to vent...esp. to people that not only understand, but seem to be going through the same thing! YAY for this thread : )
  16. Hi! I have one more! We are getting married on Maroma Beach, which is about 20minutes south of Cancun. We chose this place for all the same reasons you stated...we have about 60 people, want it to be fun, and don't want people to have to stay at the same all-inclusive we are (if they don't want to!). Basically this place is a private beach, owned partly by Lomas Travel, and partly by Karisma Hotels. All the services are basically through the hotel (food, cake, drinks, etc), but you do not have to stay at the hotel to have the wedding there. So we are staying at a hotel in Cancun, then paying for all the transfers for our guests and their various hotels to our site for the day. It is basically a beautiful beach, they put on chairs and a pretty gazebo (with bamboo and gauze-ish stuff), and then you can have the reception on the beach or at some yet to be named palapa (large grass hut). Oh, and if the Catholic thing is important to you, they will not marry you outside on the beach there, but they do have a small chapel on the same beach they allow you to use. Check out Lomas Travel Cancun Online Reservations for Tours Transfers and hotels in Cancun for a general idea, and email me if have any more questions!
  17. I may have a solution for you. We are getting married on Maroma Beach, which is about 20 minutes south of Cancun. The beach we are getting married on is owned partly by Lomas Travel, and partly by Karisma Hotels. The beach is pretty much private, and you can stay at any hotel and still get married on this beach. If you go to Lomas Travel Cancun Online Reservations for Tours Transfers and hotels in Cancun you can see a lot of the stuff they do. If you go to my website at Wedding Websites - Kristina and Brian, click on Ceremony, there is a photo of what the wedding site would look like. Let me know if you want more info!
  18. When I saw this thread I knew I had to read it, because it has been the story of my life. Dee, my FMIL sounds pretty much exactly like yours. Honestly I can't even remember all the hateful things she has said, but they have been along the lines of what your FMIL said to you. She has been nothing but disrespectful and petty, which hurts my fiance a lot because he wants her to be happy. Without going into a long saga, she wants us to get married by the Catholic Church, and of course the church won't do weddings outside. So there's that and it's also too expensive, no one will come, etc...seems to be what everyone is hearing from their family/friends. We did the same thing and gave everyone 16 months to save. So in my mind, the important people will come, because they are the ones that value us enough to save up. Of course this is not always the case due to certain financial situations, but we completely understand if someone can't come. I'll be happy if 10 people come (we invited 75). Despite FMIL, we are pretty lucky because everyone else has been wonderful and excited...and if they can't come, they graciously decline, no drama. However, my fiance and I have learned a lot about ourselves and each other because of all this. We are learning to be stronger together, do what's right for us and our lives, and to ignore negative people...even if they are your family. Of course it is a long process, but everyday is making us stronger and preparing us, so I guess in the long run we can thank our crazy family! PS Thanks for posting this, because it has helped me and my fiance to know other people go through it too!

Thank you all for being so welcoming! I am still trying to figure out how to use everything on this site, but I look forward to sharing eveything with you guys! Maroma Beach is about 20 minutes south of Cancun. We are getting married on a private beach which is owned partly by Lomas Travel, and partly by Karisma Hotels. We chose this place because the beach is private (read: it is not used by hotel guests and people in their speedos), but also it is not connected to any hotel, so our guests are not forced to stay on the property we choose. It was really important to us that our guests have options of where to stay, because we wanted them to be able to make this trip whatever they wanted. I haven't quite figured out how to upload photos here, but if you want to see a photo of the site (and get to know us!), you can visit our website at Wedding Websites - Kristina and Brian. Click on Ceremony, and there is a photo of the site. Also, I am located in NYC, if anyone here wants to get together.

Hi everyone, my name is Kristina, and my lovely photographer Sol introduced me to your forum. I don't know anyone that has done a destination wedding, so I'm sure you will all be very helpful! I am getting married on Maroma Beach, Mexico on December 1, 2007. Look forward to chatting.
