  1. A picture of the toiletries is in my photo tour: http://faberphotography.com/gran-bahia-principe-tulum-resort-photo-tour/ and i would indeed recommend bringing a disc of music for the guests to be seated to
  2. we went with the cheapest package and there was a full bar there anyway. This has happened for many people. So if you don't mind walking to the nearby bar anyway, then the cheapest option would be fine, even if they didn't include everything like they have for others.
  3. Welcome! The dinner is the reception. If you'd like it private you can have a poolside dinner with what they call the theme dinners. That is about $50 per person. For dancing afterwards, you can go to any lobby bar or the discotech (opens at 12) for free or you can pay for a private poolside dance. No burning is allowed so no fireworks, sparklers, or lanterns allowed
  4. I've seen it done both ways, but the cake cut at the poolside reception didn't get eaten.
  5. You looked beautiful and your wedding seemed perfect! Congratulations!!
  6. After they pronounced us husband and wife (in Spanish), the coordinator who translated it to English said something along the lines of "the couple has chosen (insert name here) to read a sand ceremony" and then my aunt read the passage, they started playing my music, we poured the sand. Then the coordinator introduced us as husband and wife and we walked down the aisle married
  7. Here is the official thread: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/63282-official-gran-bahia-principe-riviera-maya-thread/ There is a beach area by the Tulum section. You can see it in my photo tour: http://faberphotography.com/gran-bahia-principe-tulum-resort-photo-tour/ The BBQ is $46 per person, last I heard. 35 person minimum. It's set up right next to the pool. Here is a wedding I photographed that had a poolside dance, so just imagine that space with tables and chairs. And the meal is a TON of different options. http://faberphotography.com/weddings/gran-bahia-principe-tulum-gazebo-wedding/2012 A sand ceremony is very similar to the unity candle, however when you're outdoors it's very hard to light a candle.
  8. I did. I had a legal ceremony so it had to be done completely after the legal part (after we were pronounced husband and wife), but I didn't mind that at all.
  9. Welcome! Prices are on the official thread. That's the best place to start If you're staying at Tulum you'll have to get married there, but it's gorgeous! Same with the reception. I had the BBQ outdoor dinner reception by the pool and it was amazing! Right next to the pool. Good luck with all your planning!
  10. No to the card box. If someone brings something, just have a designated person (dad?) hold onto them. I used satin fabric. a lot of people can fit. There is a good amount of area for chairs by the gazebo.
  11. I actually will be at the resort the first week of May and I have tentative plans to meet someone who is staying at the Sian Kaan so that I can indeed do a photo tour of that resort! I have not yet photographed a Mayan Ceremony. I think they are a little less popular right now, so I haven't had the opportunity yet. I have also added you to the bridal roll call. You're our first September 12th bride, but we have two the day before you! How fun!
  12. Welcome! I did programs attached to raffia fans. My guests appreciated having a self made breeze during our wedding For table decorations I brought down table runners and votive candles. The candles were by far the biggest waste EVER. I had an outdoor dinner and reception by the pool and the wind blew the candles out immediately. The paper lanterns I believe you have to bring yourself, but they'll set up. And I brought everything down there in a big suitcase and then on the way home I put my wedding dress in that suitcase.
  13. I would contact Melissa Green. She specializes in photographing Destin Fl weddings and is amazing. http://www.melissagreen-photography.com/ Hopefully she can help you out
  14. I actually was going to mention the fact that your dress would probably be see through! You'll want to make sure you have white underwear that are a little thicker since those will become see through as well. I actually recommend that my brides get a white swimming suit if their dress is a silky material. Strapless typically works on the top and then bottoms leave it as a TTD session instead of a boudoir session
  15. The hammock location decorating is actually up for debate at the moment. I was one of the first brides to bring my own fabric... and it was free for them to set it up, however there is a recent report that they are charging $150 to decorate the area for you. So if you hear from your coordinator, please verify!
  16. Coba is furthest from the beach and Akumal is right on the beach and a good amount of suites. That's why it'll become exclusive, just like the resort across the street. I have heard rumor of adult only too, but that has not been confirmed. There is a lot of conflicting information, and I think most of that comes from the fact that things change pretty frequently. They have weddings every single day and make changes constantly. So it is frustrating, but the weddings are amazing.
  17. If that price includes the reception and a trash the dress session, that's a pretty good price. That's a lot of coverage and a lot of photos she's offering.
  18. The snack bar will always have a bunch of food options ready and available for your guests, and I think that's typically where guests go while the bride and groom are doing pictures. However, it's also not a ton of time inbetween so they might just want to go freshen up in their rooms. The flowers should be at the beginning of this topic. If you can't download them, you can pay to become a junior member faster. The charge is interesting. Is that for someone other than they usually use, maybe? And yes, Akumal is turning into an exclusive side of the resort, so I figured they would soon make it only available to Akumal guests.
  19. Good afternoon NOW Jade brides! It has been awhile since I've updated the details on this thread. If anyone has any new information they'd like posted, please send it to me either on here or at [email protected]. I would really love to double check the wedding packages and the photographer pricing, specifically. Otherwise any information that needs to be changed or you'd like added, please let me know. The new forum platform also no longer shows your wedding dates, so I try to read through the thread and add you as I see you post your date, but I definitely miss a bunch. Please feel free to PM me or again email me at [email protected] if you'd like to be added to the Bridal Roll Call. Thanks ladies!!
  20. Interesting. From what I've known, they have always done it for free. So please keep me informed on what the end decision is here.
  21. I have an interior picture posted on my photo tour: http://faberphotography.com/gran-bahia-principe-akumal-photo-tour/ But for a wedding I'd assume they'd push the tables together to create a large rectangle.
  22. Sunscreen has a reflective property in it, so it can look washed out or give you really shiny spots.
  23. Welcome! You're our second September 11th bride for 2014! Many of us have used the resort hairdresser and were quite happy with the results. I have heard rumor that outside hairdressers are no longer allowed, so ask your coordinator for the most up to date information.
