SunQuest is an airline with vacation packages. So we book everything through them. Air, hotel, transfers... One price AI. In Canada they have the exclusives to Riu resorts. No other carrier (except some place called holiday House which I can't find any contact info on) will do packages to the Riu's.
  2. I was so happy picking my place. All that weight off my shoulders. All I had to do was give everyone my TA info, Easy peasy! TA calls me to say that SunQuest has changed my dates, which normall wouldn't be a huge deal except my DOD was Jan 1st. They moved it to Dec. 29th with a $400 pp increase in the fare!! I don't think so! So now my TA is trying to work out a deal to keep the fares the same or we are starting all over at resorts. She also says there is no way to prevent them from moving the DOD again. If you are with SunQuest I would make sure you are still a go for the date you are booked.

  3. Just thought I would share this quote from a review on Trip advisory...

    in the DR

"At the airport they were nudging our luggage on the scale, to try and get it to go over 20kg. this was our limit and its $20 for every kilo you go over. Also they dont set the scale back to nought, so you need to watch for this. If they can get away with getting exccess money from you they will."

I am sure this isn't the case every time but beware.

  4. I love my daughter who is almost 5 months, but why does she needs to be up at 4:30am on the days I get up with her?? On the days FH gets up with her she sleeps in.

Oh well, I guess I get to catch up on all my celebrity gossip That seems to be the only thing on at this time besides info commercials, of course I think I do actually need a chopper that can slice everything in a jiffy! smile124.gif

The only thing I will tell you offhand is that if your guests stay at a different RIU within (eventhough, you can use all 3 different resorts),
i.e. The wedding is at the Bachata and they are staying at the Bambu or Merengue, you still have to pay "day passes" for them to be at your resort PER PERSON to be at your wedding. So make sure everyone stays at your resort because you will have to pay.
I have a ton of pics if you'd like to see them.
I am surprised at this. Why would they say stay at one play at three if I have to pay for a day pass for them? Is it because they prefer you to eat on their own resort and they will be eating on the Bachata? Thanks for the heads up about this.
  6. In Canada we have a show called Degrassi which Arron Spelling tried to buy originally (before 90210) but the producers here wanted to keep it a Canadian show and not put the teens in a wealthy setting. Anyways it aired like 13 years ago and one of the characters had a baby in Jr High. They brought the show back a couple of years ago with the baby grown up and now going to Degrassi (High school) her mom and a few other characters returned as teachers and parents. I have to admit I tune in every now and then to see what has happened to the characters but it is geared for a younger crowd with a ton of teens as the stars.

So basically what I am saying is we did something similar here with a show and it does great in the ratings becasue it had a good formula and teens will tune it to it like we did. And of course the moms will tune in to see what happened to ...

  7. OK I have been on this forum for a year and have gone through, what feels like, a million locations and we finally picked. We leave Ottawa January 1st 2009! We picked the Riu Merengue for a number of reasons 1) Price was right ($1210 per person) with a price guarentee. So if we find it listed cheaper anywhere (up unitl 60 days prior to departure) my travel agent will match it. 2) It is a stay at one play at three. This is great for those who want to upgrade to the Bachata or save a couple of bucks and stay at the Mambo. Also I can put my seperated parents on different resorts and they won't run into each other as much! 3) Free weddings with a dinner. 4) Sunquest flies out of all the Canadian cities we need it to. 5) and of course it looks great and has a ton of great reviews.

If you have stayed here or have any tips about it (good or bad) please let me know.

  8. I have been on Alesse for 12 years, no problems whats so ever. It got rid of my cramps that I used to get pretty bad. And it only took a month to get out of my system while trying to get preggers. It seems the pill (all types) reacts differently to different people. Just have to find your fit and watch for symptoms while taking it.

  9. I did the trip to chichen itza when I visited the RM. We though it was great it was the afternoon part of an all day excursion we did called the Copa-Pachan tour which was absolutely amazing. A van picked us and about five other couples up in the am and brought us into a small village. We canoed around their lake then took a hike (ok more of a walk) in the jungle until we came to a zip line which we zipped across a lake (super cool) then as we walked back we stopped at a cenote and repelled in and swam in the crystal clear water. Afterwards we got back to the village and the ladies of the village prepared a traditional lunch (the trip is AI) afterwards we stopped at a house where a lady was hand making a hammock then to finish the day a walk around chichen itza. While there we rented bikes for like $2 and saw lots of the property (although not necessary, the ruins are enough) A fantastic day and one of my favorites from all the excursions I have ever done at any resort.

Needless to say when we got back we crashed!friday.gif
