  1. Our original choice was Hawaii. But, it's very expensive and also far away for the people from NY/NJ. My fiance and I chose Los Cabos by first looking at flights from both the east coast and west coast. (His friends are in CA and mine are in NY.) We ruled out Bahamas, Puerto Rico, DR, and Maya Riviera because the flights from Cali were just awful. There were non-stop flights from either coast to Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos, but we finally decided on Cabos because the pictures just look so beautiful. I haven't spoken to anyone who has anything bad to say about Cabo, so we're pretty happy with our choice. Hope that helps!
  2. Welcome! I will be a Cabo bride also. My wedding is July 2007...I see you are July of 2008. That's plenty of time! Ann and Edyta are right, you should pick a place and date first. Do you have any in mind?
  3. Welcome Sandi! I'm pretty new here myself. Great choice on the cruise wedding. You shouldn't feel so guilty. You have to do what's best for your wedding. The guests you invite will show up because they really want to be a part of YOUR celebration. Good luck with your planning!

I think I will also add a piece of paper with some common Mexican phrases, water, gum and a "Don't forget to pack..." list. On my actual wedding day I will be giving out fans for the ladies. Great idea of giving the gifts beforehand. I originally wanted to leave a beach bag in each room with towel, flip flops, and sunscreen. But, they will probably pack those with them anyways. I was also thinking of cup insulators so that our drinks won't get warm too quickly on the beach. Does that sound lame?

I was curious as to what music you guys are playing when you walk down/or you played when you walked down the aisle. -Glenda I love that version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." The ukulele inspired me to plan my wedding in Hawaii...at the beginning. But, alas, it was too expensive for our guests.

It'll really help me when I get started on a website...(if I can just pick a date!)

I want to make it as affordable for my guests as possible. I have friends who honeymooned in Cabo and they ranted and raved about Sunset Da Mona Lisa, so I was thinking of having the reception there. And Dreams seems like a nice place to have the guests stay. All help and advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Hi Glenda, This is exactly what my thought process was last week too! Stay at Dreams for the AI and have ceremony/reception at Sunset da Mona Lisa. It looks sooo beautiful from the pictures. I haven't finished reading the rest of this string of postings, but I believe we probably need to think less nyc and more DW. --Wendy

And the beds look nicer. Oh no! I'm getting indecisive again...

I'm thinking 7/16/07 (Monday) or 7/22/07 (Sunday). We are planning on a legal wedding, so will show up the three business days before ceremony. Has anyone ever worked with Yesica...should I wait until next week for Mariana?
  10. Thanks All! I have called Dreams and was told that Marianna is not back until after the New Year. Yesica is the other coordinator that I talked to over the phone. (Not sure she speaks English too well though.) But, she did give me the available dates in July and there aren't any Saturdays left. Does anyone recommend using a wedding planner? I requested Bajaweddings.com for some info...just not sure if they will be worth it.

Also, I know it may not seem like it now but the small items add up quickly. You'll be glad you didn't spend 60% of your budget on food for one day. Okay, okay...it's so true. I thought I would have to keep aside 50% of my budget for the reception dinner. But, I need to remember this is a DW and not some fancy fake wedding in nyc. You Dreams brides are winning me over. So practical...luv it!
  12. Hi Tammy, Awesome! I didn’t realize the $22 included the buffet and the open bar. Just thought it was the site fee per person. I actually already took a peek at your wedding website and pics on Juan Carlos Tapia’s website earlier this week. Your wedding seemed wonderful…loved reading your ceremony…and thought you looked beautiful in your pictures. Thanks so much for hosting and for the welcome message!
  13. Hola Everyone! I’ve been browsing this site for a few days now and have found all of your information very helpful, so I thought I’d join. But, I’m new to this whole forum thing…so I hope I’m posting properly. We are trying to plan a DW in Los Cabos, Mexico preferably for July 2007. My fiancé and I currently live in manhattan. His friends are mostly from Cali and mine are here in NY/NJ, so we thought Los Cabos would be a fair option. My choice – Fiesta Americana His choice – Dreams Right now, we are leaning towards Dreams because the AI option sounds more budget-friendly for us and our guests. However, I’m debating if it would be a good idea to ask our guests to stay and hang with us at Dreams and then host the ceremony/reception elsewhere. I would really appreciate your opinions since many of you seem to have more experience with the location, planning, and such. Mostly also, I just wanted to introduce myself and say “HI!!†-- Wendy
