Guest book ideas - to plate or not...

Recommended Posts

This site has so much info, I came across a thread and realized another thing I forgot about was Guest Books!

I was curious as to what everyone was doing for a guest book. I thought about the post cards but I would do it from Vista Print(which I am not good at) and thought how many people would really send them back. And would I just throw them out or throw them in a box...I am not a DIY person so I definitely would not be making a book or anything for them!

Then I saw the signature plate idea which I think is pretty cool and you can display it somewhere around the house(I am sure FI will think its lame!) Was wondering what other brides are planning on doing for a guest book and if any brides are doing the plate, are you worried it will break?

We are doing the whiteboard photobooth guest book.  If you search on this site you will see some great examples of it.  We will being having the husband of one of my BM who has a fancy dancy camera do the pictures for us.  I have a chalk board and will be getting a white board.  Basically he will go to everyone and get them to write a message of the wishes for us on the white board or chalk board and then take a photo of them holding it.  We will put it together in a book and that will be our guestbook.  I hope I explained it well enough, but seriously search the forums and you will find tons of ideas.

Another Idea would be:

- engagement print signed.  You have a print of one of your engagement pictures or something and you can either do it on canvas and they sign directly on the picture of they can sign the matting and then you have that to hang.  Another option would be to just bring the photo mat and then you get them to sign that and after you return home have one of your wedding pics framed and matted under it.

hmm what great ideas! I am going to look up the whiteboard thing. I don't know how I would feel of giving someone the responsibility of doing that though lol! I guess you just hang the white board when you get back? Not sure about that!

The picture on a canvas is good too, never heard of this. Well now I got something to do tomorrow at work! Thanks!

No no no , I guess I didn't explain it well.  The white board is used by the guests to write the message on then they take a photo of them holding the white board and the PICTURE is the guest book entry!  The white board is erased between each guest!  I will find the link to a great thread about it and post it for you!  I am going to get my BM and her husband to do it together, give them a list of the guests and they will do it between our wedding ceremony and our dinner hopefully!

this is what im doing....

instead of a book that you will only see whenever, i wanted to do something that i could look at everyday, so as you both know im a little on the untraditional side lol what im doing is getting a dinner plate(in my colour theme) and putting it beside my eat drink and be married sign and having a paint pen that u can get at michaels and getting everyone to sign it..... all u have to do is when u get home bake it in the oven at 350 for like 10 min or so.... and then hang it on your kitchen wall.

i have done this with wine glasses for x mas presents and ive now sold them( AMAZING)

tori- I gotcha now!! That's a great idea! I was totally thinking of the wrong thing.

Leigh - this is what I was originally talking about doing but there are site where they sell the plates & pens. You can choose your plate & a designcolor. Wine glass sound really cool too. Would be a great idea for a gift.

Now I gotta decide which to do!

Thanks again!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
