Anyone hire a wedding planner????

Recommended Posts

Hey girlies!

I was just wondering if anyone has hired a wedding planner in addition to the WC at the resorts?

We are getting married in Puerto Rico on April 25, 2009 and decided to hire a wedding planner (already paid her lots of $$$) the problem is that I'm confused as to WHAT she is suppose to be doing?!

-And when I email her it takes days for her to reply & when she does she's not answering my questions! Her email is about a totally different subject?doh.gif

I'm now thinking, what's the frickin pointhuh.gifhuh.gif

I hired her so that she would take AWAY the stress!!!!!!

Or is it because we still are almost 9 months away?

Am I crazy? What do you think?

The Wedding planner I'm using in Bermuda, she is handling the minister, taxis, marriage license, hotel venue (since we're taking a cruise there), photographer, flowers (if I hadn't hired AA), Anything special like my cake and champagne through the hotel. She works in direct contact with the hotel venue I choose and plays liason between myself and the hotels WC.

Lately I emailed her and haven't heard anything back. Although it is peak wedding season, also alot going on in Bermuda this week. So I've chalked it up to that. Normally she's been good with getting back to me. My wedding isn't until May 09, so I'm sure I'm just being impatient with some things, just cause I'm OCD.

I'm sure most wedding planners are the same. If you're unsure, just call her and ask her straight out. YOU paid her a deposit or some sort of hold, so she's at liberty to you, and to answer YOUR questions. If you don't think there's something she's doing properly for you, call her out on it. The worse she could say is, thats not in her contract to handle.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!! hug2.gif

Thanks for your response! I thought maybe I was the only one! The funny thing is that I just heard from her- because she needs the deposit for our "rooms contract"!!!!!!!!!!!!!drum.gif

Well, we have a WC here in CO. and then the one at the resort. My fabulous coordinator actually booked my hotel in person while she was in Mexico. She has taken care of all the booking, always answers my emails the same day, has done all the emailing to the WC in Mexico, and is a pleasure to work with. We didn't have to pay her anything, she just asked that we book through her. I am going to email the WC in Mexico (I haven't personally contacted her yet) and send her a copy of the ceremony, hair pic, cake pic, make-up pic, flowers. (We pick out the location when we arrive in Mexico a few days before the wedding) Basically to answer your question, you shouldn't have to worry about booking or any of that stuff, that's the WC's job, ESPECIALLY if you have paid her $$$. It will all work out:)

I first had a WC from the hotel but she also did not respond my e-mails, or very late just like you. So, I told her that I would switch because I don't need all the stress. You also should have a good connection with her, she must know what your style is etc. The weddingplanner I know have is great!! She does the following services like:

- meet and great at the hotel

- providing pre-screened vendors

- assisting with wedding color and theme

- advising etc and inlimited calls and e-mails

She also helps with the civil wedding planning, wedding etiquette, time table and the coordination of the wedding day. Actually she does everything, replies my e-mail the same day.

If you have a weddingplanner you shouldn't have the stress!! Ask her why she doesn't respond you questions and if you didn't pay her, switch to another one. A professional one will have a contract with her services and other information. Good luck and happy planning!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
