I was also thinking the same thing! I want to wait & see how many people are coming & how our budget is. If there is money left, I'd like to take everyone out on a sunset cruise or something like that. I don't know how much it will be, but our hotel is near a marina. I don't want to pay for meals at the hotel when they are already included in the stay.

I'd like to do a welcome dinner and a hosted activity. But we'll see how the money looks when we really start planning....

In the meantime, here's some ideas if you're looking to get everyone together and not pay an arm and a leg to do so:

**Have after-dinner drinks instead of a full welcome dinner. If your resort has a bar, you can ask everyone to meet in the bar at 8-9pm and then plan some games to get people mingling (like trivial pursuit, etc...)

**Plan a shopping trip into town with transportation provided.

Ok, my creativity for ideas is tapped right now.... that's all for now...

We are doing a Sunset Cruise through Sunrider. We've got a large group and really wanted a way to get them out of the resort for at least one night. My family and I took the cruise when we were there last month and the company that runs it is very nice. I've got the prices also if you are interested.

You pay to rent out the boat - which is $3200 for domestic bar or $3552 for international bar. This is for up to 50 people. Then each additional person is $33.60 for domestic bar and $36 for international bar. Max capacity is 150.

This includes drinks and dinner which was a mexican buffet. Grilled steak, chicken, veggies, rice, beans, and stuff for nachos and tacos.

They have two boats, we are using the larger one. Not sure if the smaller one would be less money for a group smaller than 50. We didn't have our WC price that one, so it might be worth looking into.

The cruise takes you from the marina up around Lover's Arch, back down past all the hotels on the corridor, and then back to the marina. We had a blast on the cruise and think it will be a lot of fun for our guests to go on together. We also are doing ours in February and are hoping we will get to see a lot of whales.

One side note - they do have a sound system and play music during the cruise. I asked about bringing an ipod and they will let you play your own music. The music they use was pretty good - very cheesy though. We are pretty picky about music and so we thought we'd bring our own. When I asked about this they were very accomodating and willing to do whatever we wanted. Very helpful and friendly staff!

Let me know if you have any other questions!

mlb36 - I just realized your wedding is in RM (and we are doing the Sunset Cruise with a company in Cabo...)- I'm sure there is a company there that does the same thing. I've vacationed down there a lot and in my experience RM is typically less expensive than Cabo, so hopefully you could find a good deal on a similar thing!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
