How was your meeting with Cecilia Dumas? Can't wait to hear about it Hi Carolina, Well I was suppose to meet with Cecilia Dumas at 12:30pm on 11/26, after my meeting with Cecilia from Dreams. Cecilia from Dreams let me use the phone at Dreams to call Cecilia Dumas. When I spoke with Cecilia she sounded confused and said that she didn't understand how her assistant had booked her appt. to meet with me today if she had a wedding to do at 2pm. (Mind you I thought she was the one that set up the appt. over email. So I don't know if I was speaking to her or her assistant?) She had even told me specifically where to meet her at! So I was very happy Cecilia let me call her from Dreams. I asked her if she was available on Saturday (since my fiance and I had booked an excursion for Friday and Sunday) and she said she had a wedding on that day also. She asked me to call her on Sunday when I got back from my excursion and that she would meet with me at whatever time since she was free the whole day. We didn't get back from our excursion until late and frankly I didn't feel like having to go back to downtown cancun so we ended up not calling her. My fiance and I were talking and we will probably be going back to Cancun July of next year again and actually STAY at Dreams Cancun so we can see how everything flows? Anyway, we decided that we will try and meet with her again in person then. I was kind of upset that she had booked to meet with me on the same day as a wedding, but like I said she blamed it on her assistant and seemed apologetic. I'm going to try and not let this misunderstanding influence my decision on Cecilia Dumas, yet.

I have a question is Claudia still working there or did you only see Cecilia? I'm actually not sure who else is working there. I have been in emailing back and forth with Cecilia for a couple of months now and that was why I met with her. Cecilia actually also had a new girl there that I believe she said was an understudy. Those are the only two wedding coordinators that I met with. I do remember though emailing the main email for dreamscancun once and getting a response from Claudia so I'm assuming she is still there. I leave back to jersey today I LOVE Mexico!!! lol Talk to you guys when I get back!
  3. Ok so I know this may sound like a stupid question, but here goes, How do you start your own thread on this website?
  4. Hi Ladies!!! Well I arrived in Cancun yesterday and went for my site visit at Dreams Cancun today. Let me tell you that I fell in LOVE with Dreams. The gazebo is absolutely beautiful and for the most part isolated from the other busy areas which was important to me. I did my site visit with Cecilia and she was awesome! Anything I asked from her she let me know that it was possible which I loved. She totally took her time with me and my fiance even though she had a wedding that day at 2pm. As we were on our tour several guests from a wedding party she had done the night before stopped to say hi to her and they seemed very happy. The resort is not too big, not too small, but perfect. It was VERY VERY windy when we were there. I am not sure if it is always that windy there since the whole day that day wherever we were was windy. Cecilia did say though that it is usually windy. I definetly think that for our wedding, my bridesmaids and I will need an updo. There was construction going on off to the side of the gazebo towards the beach area? Cecilia said that the goverment is working on making it a "better" beach and once it's done it should look wonderful. I had asked her if they had any other types of chairs for ceremony/reception. (The chairs they use now are kind of a dark purple color and actually need the white covers or else I don't think they would look as nice. Cecilia actually told me that they were thinking of ordering Tiffany chairs and that they will hopefully have it in the future. Cecilia showed us the Terrace in the back of the Spa and said that although they have not done many, there is an option to have a reception by the terrace in the back of the spa. She said the only condition is that the reception must be at 8pm, since that is when the spa closes. She said that this is the only place where you can have your wedding until later as it isn't really in the hotel and the noise does not bother anybody. Any other place she said the reception has to be over at 11pm. Also I asked her about the two DJ's, DJ Mannia, and DJ Doremixx. According to Cecilia the owner of DJ Mannia has moved to Dominican Republic and they have a new owner. She said that the MC is great but did say that lately they've had a couple of problems with the DJ? She didn't specify what but I believe she said that these owners were more unorganized. She gave good reviews about Doremixx. All in all I fell in love with Dreams. My fiance and I booked our date even though it's far away and I'm waiting on the proposal (July 23,2011) I am very much excited. As I am still in Cancun (I love free internet service and my laptop...lol) I will try and post pictures when I get back home Hope this helps!
  5. I'm actually going to Cancun next week for my birthday/site visit/maybe book our wedding date/meet with Cecilia Dumas! lol My fiance and I are staying at Moon Palace but we have a site visit booked for my b day (11/26) at Dreams....I'm so excited!!!! I promise to take a lot of pictures!!! I love Cecilia Dumas work and she has been very responsive with my emails. I think I'm leaning towards using her for our wedding.
  6. Congrats!!Your wedding looked amazing and I love your hair and makeup!!!You looked beautiful on your day...I'm glad everything worked out for the best...

She has amazing pics and reviews, but I know the lighting and posing is very different in cenotes so I'm just a little nervous; I'd rather do a beach session with great pics than a cenote session with ok pics. Thanks again!! Have fun No prob! I'll definetly ask her...I'll try to email her before I leave to see if she can bring some cenote session pictures...I'll keep you posted!

Thanks for the feed back Hey Carolina, I'm looking at Cecilai Dumas to be my photographer for my wedding. I have been speaking to her via email and she has been very responsive which to me is important when planning a destination wedding. She seems very easy to work with. She is definetely cheaper than some of the other photographers that I also like, and the pictures on her website are amazing. My fiance and I will be traveling to Cancun on the 25th of this month and have an appt to meet with her on the 26th. I will be more than happy to ask her any questions in person if you need them answered? Let me know? I have read nothing but good reviews about her on this website.

I'll give it back to my mom so she can wear it and buy matching wedding bands with my hubby-to-be instead). Though I'm thrilled about getting the ring for sentimental reasons (and because it looks gorgeous too:)), I kinda wish my mom had done that in secret with my FI behind my back instead of telling ME about it. We plan on marry in the spring of 2011, in Varadero Cuba. My FI is almost as much into the planning as me, always talking about it and often looking online for more info/reviews for the resorts we are thinking of (mostly the Iberostars Varadero and Laguna Azul). Getting your grandmother's ring sounds awesome...definetly cool...Yeah unfortunately guys aren't as creative as us to do things like that behind our backs....lol...Cuba? That sounds awesome, I never even thought of Cuba...mmmhhhmmm makes me wonder....lol...

I will be a 2011 bride and like some of you, I also am waiting on a ring/proposal. My soon to be FI went and picked out rings the first week of October, which was also my birthday week. Getting married is all HE talks about but we are waiting for his divorce from his 1st marriage to be final before we go any further. But in the meantime, I have been planning away!! This will be my 1st marriage so I am crazy excited!! Since he has done the whole traditional wedding at home with hundreds of guest, he has left the ideas for our wedding up to me since it’s my 1st time. By the time he proposes, I will probably be done planning!! This board is God sent!!! Reading you alls post has made me feel so much better!! THANKS LADIES!! Thanks Heaven Scent! Hopefully you'll get your ring soon! Welcome to the forum! I'm sooo happy I found this site. You will see that this forum has a wealth of information and everyone hear is so great and willing to answer questions. Trust me when I found this thread, I thanked god I wasn't crazy...lol and that there were other brides to be planning there weddings so far in advance too! Good luck!
  11. Thanks guys!!! You are all awesome! I love this website!!! It's awesome...I'm going to be going to Dreams Cancun and Moon Palace 11/25-30 so let me know if anybody has any questions they need me to ask!!!I'll also be taking a lot of pictures!!!

You must be SOOO happy now! Oh I am so happy for you....I wish I could have seen your face when he did it! I think Im gonna try looking at wedding books now....lol....just kidding! Thats such great news Yencie!!! Now like you said, you can officially start planning again without getting the rolling of the eyes. Oh how exciting! I cant wait for you to go on your site visit and hopefully nail down a date. That will lift a huge weight off your shoulders. Especially being able to do that while your down there and not worry about it via emails like the rest of us. You will have to take a lot of pictures so we can see where it will be. Ya the more I think about it, the more comfotable I am with the thought of getting married here first and not telling anyone and then doing the symbolic ceremony there. I dont think anyone will know the difference. Plus that way we wont be nervous of the day of the beach ceremony. Might remember more of it that way. I know my last wedding was a total blur for most of the time...lol...probably better that way now anyways...lol So what does the ring look like? You have to upload a pic to photobucket and get it on here!!!! I want to see the beauty! Did you phone everyone right away I bet you were on the phone for hours! lol THats sucha cute way of doing it. I told Riley I didnt want anything fancy or something which involved a lot of people. Just me and him,...even if he asked me in bed on a sunday morning...lol....I dont care so long as its heartfelt and genuine and romantic. I dont need the weekend away or fancy dinner. Just me and him. So I love that your now FIANCE (dont you just love the sound of that when it refers to your man...lol) did it that way. Its really cute and unique. Plus it TOTALLY caught you off guard and thats the way it should be. You didnt have a chance to figure it out. So great!!!! Keep me posted on EVERYTHING!!!!! Congrats from Riley and I!!!! Thanks Jenny! Yeah he totally caught me off guard!!!It's funny because I think he thought once he proposed he would be off the hook at least until we leave to cancun in a couple of weeks but nope! Not me! lmao!!!Now I've been talking even more about it! My parents feel so sorry for poor Anthony! lmao....Oh well...I think he's just as excited now though too....(I think he likes to be referred to as FIANCE...LOL) I definetly want to do the legal wedding here...I'm scared my parents will find out though because they are just that nosy and will probably ask me what paperwork and stuff I would need to get married in cancun...Oh well worse case, I'll just have to tell them...lol I can't wait for you to get engageeddddd!!!!!Hopefully Riley gets inspired now...lol...It's hilarious how we were talking about it and then BAM! he proposes! His ears must have been burning and he must have heard us..lol...I have to figure out how to upload the ring but if you go under Diamond Jewelry, Wedding Band, Engagement Ring, Stud Earring and type 497 in the search you'll be able to see the ring without the center stone. The center stone is a princess cut. It sucks because pictures don't really do it justice...It's a really pretty ring.... Ok so one down one more to go Jenny! I'm rooting for you!!!!lol

I'm giving my photographer our deposit on Friday. Ashley to answer your questions about the decor items, until I found this forum and starting looking at more pictures I wasn't planning on taking much with me, but now I'm taking a lot to help save money and because I know it will be what I want. I plan on getting real touch bouquets, chair sashes and overlays, and doing my own centerpieces to take with me. I'm going to just split it up between my guests and have receipts for everyone with everything to eliminate problems with customs. Thanks! I'm sooo excited now!....wow You already have your date book? that is awesome...I hope that when I go down to mexico on the 25th I fall in love with one of the resorts because I really want to book a date...then I can start planning on the std's! lol....Yeah I'm also planning on ordering my own chair sashes because it looks like they are about $4 a chair if I order them through the resort....I'm not that crafty to be able to make my own centerpieces though I'll probably order flowers....who knows we'll see...maybe I'll get inspired once I have a date....lol Splitting everything with everyone is definitely smart...I'm going to probably have to do the same....

However I feel a little lingering feeling like Im missing something or should have something else in there. I may break down and buy something else to put in them as I still have a year to go, but for now they are done and are going into storgae until I decide as to whether I ship them to Playa Del Carmen or whether I lug everything down there. On the plus side, I will have an empty suitcase to fill with souveniers and statues when I come home.....hmm...thats an idea...lol Thanks for looking ladies, and if you have any further ideas as to what I might be missing, I would love to hear them. I have decided against getting beach towels due to cost and weight of my luggage so thats out. Thanks again for all of your post and helping me with ideas on my OOT bags! So glad I found this forum! Thanks for looking and Congrats to all the brides to be and newly weds! Jennifer I loveeee your OOT bags!!! They look great!
