  10. Hi Ladies, I have been a member of this forum for a very long time and it has been essential in helping me to plan my wedding back in 2014. I feel like I have been not so great at giving back, so I'm coming back to share my personal experiences and help other brides to have an amazing wedding in Mexico Like I had:-) I feel like there is a lot of info regarding getting married at All-inclusives and other resorts, but not so much regarding a Beach Villa, which was our dream venue...and we finally have found one in Tulum: Hacienda Paraiso. here is my wedding video: https://vimeo.com/142955264 So this thread is dedicated to a Private Beach Villa non-cookie cutter wedding and what to expect. I hope I can help a few new brides and finally give back. so ask away...:-)
  11. No worries, I know it can be confusing. Basically the guests take out their current SIM card and put in the Mexican one. They might have to punch in a PIN code that come with the Mexican SIM card So they will have a Mexican cell phone number and can call local. You should to the same whenever you get down there. Most of the countries have GSM type phones (Europe and Russia included), so it's super easy to use. But for the US travelers it's not so simple...the phone needs to be unlocked for some of the providers that have a SIM (have to call the provider to do that). I believe T-mobile is already unlocked, but Att you need to call. But anyone that has a NON GSM sim provider (which is Sprint, verizon) will not be able to use it, since they can't get the SIM card out of their phones. Hope this helps...let me know if you have any more questions You can buy the SIM cards in any OXXO gas station in Mexico and many other places, like markets. So I'm having my wedding planner ship me some, when I get a bit closer.
  12. Hi Ladies, Looks like you have covered everything possible in this thread:)) amazing, sooo thankful to all of you...Totally changed my mind about putting sunscreen in the bags, someone will always have some to lend:) I have 2 items I haven't seen anyone using. It might be because we are having a Villa wedding in Tulum and all our guests are staying in a small bungalow hotels near by. 1) mosquito repellent coils and matches (great for using out on the patio or balcony at night. Made by Coghlans, it's a pack of 10, and it was very cheap...so I'm just gonna put 1-2 per bag in the zip lock and print my own instructions 2) we have a lot of people coming from all over Europe and Russia, so I'm only adding this for the ones with little kids and not very seasoned travelers. My wedding planner is sending me a few Mexican SIM cards, I can add to my hard copy invite I will be sending out a couple of month out, or put in the welcome bags. so people can just call us when they get in, and we know to expect them, or incase they need any help. You just have to make sure you know the SIM card sizes, mini or regular. The SIMs are $5-7 to start and they can always ad more money to it. Just a thought
  13. Wow, I love your wedding video! Would be my Dream come true!!! I'm hoping I will be able to find someone like that to capture our moments! I noticed your photographers were from Canada, how did that work out? Do you have any suggestions for a lighting and music equipment rental place? My FI is a pro DJ, so we would like to rent some equipment for 4-5 days to be able to have some nice sound at the villa. Thank you so much! And congrats! You too look amazing together. Not sure if your hubby dressed himself, but he looks super stylish. Usually we girls never notice the groom, in your case I was starring at both of you:))) looked like a very fun wedding!
  14. @@steph please forgive me, I have been MIA. We had a fantastic time in Turks and Caicos, found perfect villa and a great caterer...and just decided to prob move our wedding to Tulum, Mexico:( we felt very guilty about crazy amount of travel and transfers (and visas) that our friends and family from Europe have to go though and think it will not be worth it. However, If you are still planning on having a Villa wedding, write me a PM and I prob will be able to answer every question you might have. We have visited every beach and even saw brand new properties that are not up for rent yet. I would love to share all me research, so it doesn't go to waste. And I have an amazing amazing caterer for you;))
  15. @@DreamWedding that villa wedding looked amazing! I'm also having a 70%vegan menu and a villa wedding. We are going for our site visit in 3 week. Which Villa was that in the video? Also how much would it cost to do fireworks on the beach? And is it legal to release Chinese lanterns in the air or do a bon fire on the beach? Thank you so much and looks like i'm not the only Vegan Tulum bride 2014 out there;)) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
