  1. In Dominican Republic is a tradition to feed the photographer or any other person that has to stay and work during the wedding. Also, you don't want a starving photographer taking your pictures!!! (They may not come out as beautiful!).
  2. Hello! I am originally form Dominican Republic and I am planning my wedding in Bahia Principe La Romana. However, I would strongly recommend you to do your wedding at Punta Cana. The beach is the best from Dom. Rep. and there's tons of hotels to choose from. I am doing my wedding in La Romana because Punta Cana is too far from the capital (La Romana is 1.5 hours away, while Punta Cana is 4.5 hours away), and 150 of my 200 guest are from Santo Domingo (capital), so I had to choose the closest location. My fiance and I visited many resorts in Punta Cana when we were looking for our wedding location, and I can tell you that the one I liked the best was Barcelo Bavaro Palace Resort. It has a white gazebo that has the ocean in one side and two beautiful pools in the other side. That place is just perfect!!! I have heard from all my Dominican friends that the Hard Rock Hotel in Punta Cana is AMAZING! I haven't been there, but I didn't even check it out because it was out of my price range. Good luck with your wedding!
  3. Hi! I am going to have my wedding there (GBP La Romana) on October 2012. I like the hotel, and the prices are very reasonable! However, dealing with them have been a nightmare!!! It was mainly because of the Event Manager; she was so slow to reply and not efficient at all!! She was very nice and said yes to everything I wanted, but for God sake, she would take forever for any simple thing!! Last week we found out that she was fired! (Wonder why??!!!) I just hope that the new event manager is better! I don't know yet who she/he is. I just wrote them an e-mail so that I can start coordinating (again) everything for my wedding. Gran Bahia Principe La Romana definitely need serous help in terms of communication and directing you to the right person. It took several phone calls for me to get the right person that would coordinate the room reservations, but at the end it was worth it since they gave me a discounted room price for my guests (the hotel is already cheap, but I got it cheaper!!). So, I am happy about that! My wedding is for 200 people though, not sure how much that influenced the discounted price, but it doesn't hurt to ask for a lower price even if you are planning a small wedding!!! Keep in mind that high season in Dominican Republic is December - April. If you plan your wedding for any of those months you and your guest will probably be paying 50% more for plane ticket and rooms. Hope this helps!!

Check the Dreams resort in la Romana. My mom went there last week ans told me the service is amazing!! We are going to see how things go with the new Event Manager at the Bahia Principe La Romana, because if things don't change, I am switching my wedding to the Dreams. Hope this helps!!
