  2. Hello ladies! I just returned last week from our amazing wedding at the Grand on 1/29/2012! It was truly the best 9 days of our life (so far!). We got married on the beach, with the Free Wedding Package and 22 guests total. Let me know if you have any questions! Will try to help in any way that I can. This site was such a huge help in all of my planning! 4. Hi Ladies, I leave for Jamaica in less than 4 weeks!!! Getting so very excited! Question: How are you all (or how did you) transport your wedding dress? I found the website www.foster-stephens.com where I purchased a garment bag and transport box (that is supposed to fit in the overhead compartment- but I think it might be 2 inches to long). How was your experience with the airlines letting you carry-on the dress? Foster Stephens is the company that most dry cleaners purchase their wedding dress preservation boxes. Let me know. Thanks!

  6. YES!!! I am getting married at the Grand 1/29/2012 and would LOVE to know other past brides thoughts and info on this same topic. Please reply!!! Thanks ladies.
  7. I would like to know more about this, too! Any past brides with some music advice?
  8. Check out Brian Nejedly... www.briandesign.com. I just booked him for my 1.29.12 wedding at the Grand. His pics are awesome and his prices are reasonable. He is very flexible, friendly and easy to work with. Plus, he has a videographer partner. Good luck!
  9. In response to the PSA... I am in the same situation, ladies. Just found out that ALL 3 Hotels are completely booked the days before my wedding (Fri 1/27 and Sat 1/28), and not everyone who wanted to attend are booked yet! We have 15 booked so far. Luckily things open up the actual day of my wedding (Sun 1/29). Did some research online and found out there are TWO conventions and a Jazz Festival at the Iberostar the week before my wedding. I was told that January was there down season, but the place is going to be PACKED! UGH!!! Crazy!!!
  10. Hi Tropical Love, No, Janielle never told me this information in an email. It's just what I thought was included by reading the package details. I guess I will have to email her as well requesting the specific details about what is included in the Free Wedding Package to confirm it all for me. Thanks for the tip! JenAndBrad
  11. Hello April Blossom! Congrats to you, too!!! How exciting that we'll be at the Grand at the same time! Maybe we'll run into you two at the pool!!! Most of our friends and family will probably be leaving on the 30th, the day you arrive. We leave on Friday 2/3, your wedding day! Yes, my plan is to do the "Free Wedding Package". And, then pay the $20 per person for the ceremony. I believe you only pay for each person above 10 people. And it covers the chairs, ceremony setup (arch), minister, cake and champagne for each person. We just got engaged on July 4th, so we're putting together this wedding in a jiffy... with only 5 months to go! YIKES! We are sending out our Save The Date cards this week. And then plan to send out formal Invitations in about a month or two. Once we know how many are coming to the wedding we'll decide what kind of dinner/reception to put together. If our group gets large enough, we'll probably rent the Port Maria Restaurant (Private Reception) for $1700, as well. And, I was thinking of renting the DJ, but my fiance and I really wanted to keep the wedding part as cheap as possible, since we're spending so much on the honeymoon part! Do you (or anyone else) have any ideas on ways to have a reception feel, but not having to rent a DJ? Also, what have other brides done for music during their ceremony if they haven't purchased (the expensive!!) steel band or violinist, etc... Has anyone rented the DJ for an hour to play music during the ceremony? Is this possible??? After hearing so much about the Tai Floral problems, I might find other options... like "real touch" flowers. Ordering some fake flowers, designing my own arrangements (never done this before!!) and then packing it all. Anyone done this before? I will use them for the "free" flowers. I think the bride's bouquet and the groom's boutinerre are included, so I'll just get that. Although, I would like to have some flowers for the arch, but I think that arrangement is $100+! Would the arch look bad without flowers? I am looking into Brian Nejedly for photography. Has anyone used him before? I will check out Stacy Clarke, too! I was also looking into the SunGold associates Neville and Clarkson. Anyone use their associates before? Keep me posted on your plans and ideas! ~ Jennifer
  12. Hello Ladies! I just started planning my destination wedding and have secured the Iberostar Rose Hall Grand Hotel for our wedding on Saturday January 28, 2012 and our honeymoon for the week after that. In fact, I go to the travel agency this afternoon to pay our deposit. YIKES!!! We are trying to stay within our limited budget (the honeymoon took most of it!) so we're going with the Free Wedding package, adding on a few extras and that's it. Our wedding will be very small, just us and our parents (6 people) up to 20-30 at the very highest... Has anyone done the free wedding package? It sounds like most brides went with the $1500 or $3000 package (plus even more extras, like Bonfire, Cocktail party, steel bands, dove release, etc.). Do most brides do the private reception? Can I just make a reservation at one of the restaurants on the night of my wedding? Or, will I still have to pay for the package to have everyone sit together? It is all very confusing. I am planning to hire a photographer. Right now I'm looking at Brian Nejedly, Diana Campbell and Sungold Associates (anyone use any of these?). These referrals are all thanks to the awesome reviews on this site from past Grand brides!!! Are the extras really necessary to have a great wedding? I am surprised at all the extra costs, since this is supposed to be an all-inclusive resort, right? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
