  1. Hi Raggae dancin! I am getting married in November also and we are staying at the Palladium, but getting married off site. First thing....I know it's frustrating, but unfortantely this kind of neglect, ( I call it) is common from these big resorts. And based on some things I read on trip advisor...common to the Palladium. Wedding planners quit or move jobs and the plans you had made are in the air suddenly. However, you seem to have a lot of details are up in the air. So, it's time to get a little more aggressive and be sure you are covering your butt. If you can't get the wedding planners to respond to you, I have a contact that has been responding to me, in sales/catering - I can pass it along to you. Can you set your email to notify you when an email you sent to the WC has been opened? Would be interesting to know if they are being read and ignored, or not being read at all. Also, I would call the resort........speak to someone directly to connect you to a WC. Ask firmly, but polietly not to be put on hold long, as you are calling long distance. If you look up the resort on Trip advisor, there is a manager.....Dimitri, that often responds to negative reviews. He seems to think very highly of his staff and likes to indirectly blame the customer when they complain, if you could get his email, and complain to him that you can't get anyone to help you, you might see some action. Go the the Corporate Palladium site and get some corpoarte email addresses and copy them into your email's too, maybe that will shake the tree. If I were you, I would keep every email you send and receive from this point forward (hopefully you have the ones from the previous WC?) and print off all correspondence before you leave home, as verification of some of your details. A lot of smaller details are worked out in emails, outside of a contract, so, just in case this might be handy to have. If you let them know you are organized and mean business and can proove the details that were arranged...well, it can't hurt.
  2. Hi Ladies, I might have a suggestion for you. First thing, live music is expensive, so I hope you are prepared to open you pocket book! My wedding planner, Denise Taylor's husband is a Raggae artist and producer. Quick story, we met her in March (our wedding is coming up in November) and she did not mention this at all. It was by assident I put it together a month later.....by her last name and his video on itunes. I was downloading raggae music and came accross his music on itunes. I quickly feel in love with one song, Raggae Street, and included it on a raggae CD we sent with out invitations. He is really good.....you can Google him and read about his carrer...pretty impressive. His name is Chockey Taylor and his band would charge around $2000 for 2 hours I think. If it's entertainment in general you want and something cheaper fits the budget....maybe fire dancers? They are always awesome to wat and I think you can get them for $250 - 500. Hope this helps. Let me know if you want any contact information.
  3. Hi Ladies! My name is Charlotte and I'm from London, ON, Canada. Reading about all your plans is so fun!! Have fun with it ladies, it goes by so fast. My wedding is coming up on Nevember 7, 2011 (So soon!) and our guests are staying at the Gramd Palladium, however we are getting married off site at a private villa. We went to Jamaica for a quick budget friendly trip in March, to check out a few things for our wedding (villa, caterer, transportation company, wedding planner and a site tour of the Palladium), so I may have some helpful info for some of you. The food is VERY important to us on our wedding day and we really wanted to be certain we get a high quality meal. While you certainly can get a great meal on a resort, you can also end up with the same mediocre meals served in the buffet's, for your reception dinner. Secondly, we wanted to create a memorable atmosphere somewhere private. Not to put down anyone wanting to marry on the beach, but I wouldn't choose this option for my wedding day. It's ackward for guests who are dressed up (high heels) and if it's windy (it usualy is) it can cause major problems with hair, blowing sand and sound. But, it can be perfect and beautiful too...just maybe a little risky. We wanted our guests to experience a change in atmosphere (plus we wanted to avoid them wandering off entirely) so we rented a 6 bedroom villa in the hills, 20 minutes from the Palladium. It's called the Hammerstein Highland House and it was previously owned years ago by Oscar Hammerstein who wrote the music, for The Sound of Music, on the very balconies if this villa! I love that little tidbit of history. The cocktail reception will be around the pool, and a tent will be set up for the reception with our chef/caterer preparing the food fresh, on site. We taste tested our caterer (The Seahorse Grill) in March and LOVED it. Best snapper I have had in my life and the tenderloin was melt in your mouth good. We have a Wedding planner, Denise Taylor and she is awesome. The minute we met her, we hit it off and she is very responsive to our every question. She has been in the business for years on the island. PLUS, her husband is a Raggae artist and producer...... a VERY good one (music on itunes) and they have a boat charter company. With all said and done, we are still spending $18,000, so it is not by any means a cheaper option. Our full bar for 6 hours and meal is $100/person and we are having almost 70 people. Transportation is VERY expensive in Jamaica.....beware and consider that when thinking about an off resort wedding. That was a shocker. We have a great company who is very reliable and fair priced. We used the same guy everyhwere we went in March and he was awesome. Still expensive though. If anyone has any questions, let me know. I can pass along conact info and we have been to Jamaica 3 times and stayed at the Riu Ochos Rios, Sunset Beach Resot and the last time in March the budget friendly Holiday In Sunspree. Our site tour of the Palladium was great - we saw everything. The place is gorgeous and massive. Look forward to chatting again!
  4. Hi there! I'm looking for any feedback on Wedding planners in Jamaica. I've been working with Jewel Marsh, Almarie @ Tropical Weddings and Helen G Events. Does any one have any recent feedback on any othese ladies? Mainly Jewel Marsh?
  5. Hi Jules 23! How much was the charge for the fire dancers? Were the time they perform flexible?
