  1. We are having a legal ceremony at the RIU Palace, however I am not getting a clear indication of the requirements for paperwork. We have our passports and birth certificates. From what I understand, we need to send our original birth certificates and notarized copies of our passports to the state to be apostilled. Is this accurate? Also, I was told that our documents need to be translated. Do our passports have to be translated or just our birth certificates? Who can we contact to have the documents translated? Can someone help me out? Thanks in Advance! Jen
  2. What beautiful gowns! I'm getting excited. I ordered mine a couple months ago and it won't be in until November.... Â Here is mine (Mori Lee 2302), but in white: Â
  3. Ohhthatjenny! You are getting married at the Palace the day before I am!! Still not that far with the planning... We know we are doing a 4:00 legal ceremony in the San Jose gazebo. We still haven't decided what to do for our reception. We are expecting about 70 guests. I have ordered my dress and have picked out the bridesmaid dresses. My sister will be the MOH and my friend will be the other bridesmaid. We have booked mango for our photos... We are expecting to hear from our travel agent this week regarding the costs for travel. We sent save-the-dates about a month ago, and will be sending out a letter soon with the travel and booking information. My main concern right now is deciding what to do for the reception. There are so many options between the semi-private and private, 1 seating vs both seatings... Ohhthatjenny, have you reserved your reception location yet? Thanks! Jen
  4. I, luckily, have not had to deal with the WC at the RIU Palace. My fiance an I chose a travel agent that specializes in destination weddings. All of my communication has been with the travel agent. It does take a while to get some answers because the travel agent is waiting to hear from the WC, but I'm also still about 9 months out from my wedidng date, so nothing is urgent right now. As a matter of fact, I just received an update email from my travel agent today letting me know that she's still working on my questions, but the WC "has been out" (no other details here). My travel agent asked me to put together a list of everything that I wanted to be included at my wedding and we could then sit down and work things out with the WC when it gets closer to the wedding. I'm sorry you are having such a difficult time, but I'm sure your wedding will be absolutely wonderful! Best of luck and keep us updated! Â ~Jen
  5. I was thinking of having my fiance in a white shirt and khakis and having the groomsmen in khakis and shirts to match the bridesmaids. I'm not sure if I should just go ahead and have the bridesmaid dresses ordered and then start shopping around at mens stores for shirts that match or come close.... It would be neat if there was a store or website that sold both dresses and shirts in the same color.
  6. Does anyone know of any stores/websites that sell bridesmaid dresses and matching mens shirts? Has anyone done this for their wedding?
  7. Hi Everyone! Â I'm getting married at the RIU Palace on June 18, 2011. I haven't had a chance to read through everyone's posts (stuck at work, ugh...), but I'm looking forward to it! Â ~Jen
  8. Thank you for the review! I will be getting married there in June 2011. It's nice to know that you had a great experience. Thanks again!
  9. Getting married June 18, 2011 at RIU Palace Cabo San Lucas!
  10. My FH found the resort while doing some research for our wedding. We have pretty much decided on Cabo, however we're not sure on a resort yet. We both like the information on the website for Playa Grande, however I'm a little nervous that I can't find much information or any photos from past brides, or folks planning their weddings there. Can anyone help me out? Good and bad? TIA! Jen, a newbie!

    Hello!

Hello all! My fiance, Ryan, and I got engaged in July 2009. We are are in the process of choosing a location for a June 2011 destination wedding. We have met with a few travel agents and are trying to narrow down some of our options. So far, we are open to Mexico, Jamaica, Dominican Republic and just need to figure out which resort will suit our needs the most. Jennifer
