  1. I was asking around, from what I understand it will almost always have rain in the forecast because of the tropical showers, but not to worry unless it says "heavy" rain or something. Best wishes to you! We are leaving tomorrow and it does look like its improved from what the outlook was last week. That was kind of frightening. Where are you getting married on the Island? We will be in Runaway Bay at one of the private villas most of the trip.
  2. Looks like the last of us that just posted are all 10/10/10 brides! Best wishes to all of you. We are leaving early tomorrow and it looks like the weather in Jamaica has finally improved.
  3. I have a pricing sheet from her from earlier this year. She was very reasonable and much lower than anyone else.
  4. Best of luck to all of the ladies! We are leaving in a few days for Jamaica! Getting married on the 10th... hoping the weather clears up for the trip and the subsequent wedding. Can't believe a year has come and gone already.
  5. The forecast has been a bit freaky, but so far it looks like it might be okay. We are leaving in a few days (the 4th) and the wedding is on the 10th... hoping for the best We aren't doing our wedding at a resort, so while we do have a plan a, plan b, and plan c... I don't have a resort with a plan
  6. The only company I have been able to find is show jam or something. Are there any others?
  7. Sunstarsmoon, where did you find the private catarmaran cruise info? I have been scouring to find one for our family and friends
  8. Does anyone have any suggestions for weddings in October in Jamaica? My Fiance is worried about the humidity, rain and potential hurricanes for our 10.10.10 wedding. I have been to the Caribbean in early May in the past and it was humid at times, but nice most of the time. How is October and does it rain that much on the Northern Coast near Runaway Bay? Any information to help this "starting to stress out" bride. I am at the 100 day mark, frantically checking hurricane tracking maps and diligently charting potential rain. We rented a tent, but the humidity and rain wouldn't be ideal. I could cope, but yeah.
  9. For favors, we found a local company here in California (Home of Back to Basics Embroidery) to do vintage post card luggage tags for a fairly inexpensive price. They are able to use the vintage poster pictures for Jamaica and turn them into wooden post card style luggage tags. On the back side it will have the villa name and the date.
  10. My villa has an "attached" planner but she wanted to charge me crazy amounts for things so I ended up doing a lot of the work myself. Thankfully one of my friends is a wedding planner here in California and is coming along. She is helping a lot (weddingsalamode.net). My cake lady is Margaret Myrie - Mommy's Wedding Cakes. Also, after I went with Chic events, I found this company had much better pricing but could not find any references - Sumar rentals.
  11. I just wanted to throw my post out there for any one that wants to do their wedding/reception at a villa or non-resort in Jamaica. I am doing mine on my own and have had to be extremely resourceful. The property management group through the villa tried to charge me resort fees but in the end I was able to DIY nearly 85% of it. Our wedding is a little over 100 days out right now and so far these are the vendors I have booked with great pricing/recommendations: Flowers - Floral Fantasies Cake - Margarete - referral by Rose @ Floral Fantasies Reception Rentals - Chic Events - Sadeki DJ - Kevan - Jamaica DJ (on FB) Villa - Paradise Resorts - www.prmsite.com (they included the minister and document handling) Tent - I went ahead and used my Villa's recommendation on this One way I saved a lot of money but am ensuring success is by bringing in my own caterer and photographer. I am lucky that a close friend is a trained chef with amazing skills, so I was able to barter with him. I also have a BFF with a photographer for a husband so I traded a free 4 night stay at one of our villas for my pics.
  12. I am using Floral Fantasies as well at a private villa for my wedding. Rose has been amazing to work with so far.
  13. Does anyone know of a steel drum band for offsite weddings?
  14. I found a few djs when hunting around online, just asked them for samples and information. This might be a good starting point... not sure how good he is yet. Jawedding DJ - Jamaican Dj,Jamaica Wedding Music, Weddings, Parties, Equipment Rental - I heard from him right away.
  15. Thanks! By the way, this site is awesome. I have already found multiple vendors to save me from the crazy planner.
