  1. I am getting married June 2010 also (the 14th!) at MPPC. They sent me photos of the beach, the gazebo with grass on top and another gazebo that is square and white stucco. As far as I know those are the only 3 wedding ceremony locations that they allow you to have. Sounds like you have the photos, but if you'd like to see what I have just let me know! We also had friends that went down in Jan...she took tons of photos but there was no sign of a garden that faces the ocean in them or on the map of the resort. I've been in contact with another bride who got married in May and she said to not stress or worry about the planning. She basically planned the whole thing in the 2 days before the wedding once she arrive, and they are more than helpful and easy to work with! When is your wedding?!
  2. After finding out how much it costs to get legalization of documents, plus translation fees...it's going to be about $480 (and we're lucky bc my FI birth cert. is already in spanish!! otherwise it'd be over $500!) We are now toying with the idea of doing a 'no big deal' courthouse wedding and acting like it was any other day. That way our DW in Punta Cana will be the real deal to us and everyone else. We just don't know how far in advance to get all this started. When should we apply for a license and plan to sign the papers? We have 4 months, so I think we have time...but I want to make sure! Anyone done this yet?? Glad we arent the only ones thinking this way...we don't want to upset family thats travelling so far for our wedding...but it makes SO much more sense!!!!
  3. My wedding coordinator in MP is also Nancy. I have been emailing back and forth with her assistant so far. We still have about 5 months to go, so no serious planning yet. How did all of that go?? I'm a little nervous about all the options and charges for the extra stuff...have they been helpful so far?
  4. The Hard Rock is taking over the Moon Palace Resort in the Spring. Apparently nothing is changing, except the name, the casino and some music inspired decor. I am planning my wedding there for June 2010 (of course, I began planning BEFORE it was a Hard Rock). Not sure how it will be, but we'll see!! As long as I dont have to get married by Elvis, or behind a glowing neon yellow guitar...I'll be fine. It is all-inclusive, 11 pools, 4 swim up bars, a gorgeous beach, golf, spa and casino. The rooms also have jacuzzi tubs IN the rooms. Pictures of the place are pretty impressive. I have a friend traveling there for vacation this weekend...so when I hear back, I'll post more info and maybe some pics! Any other brides plannig their wedding at Moon Palace/Hard Rock Resort?!
  5. All depends I guess on how 'formal' you are trying to be. If you are having an engagement party, some couples i knew are already registered for that, or at least for the bridal shower. So to be more 'formal' you can just let her know around the time of your shower that you've registered at certain stores. It takes time to register, so once you have done it, might as well let people know. And if they ask, even better! Then it's not too awkward to just say 'well we've registered at so and so..." We had a late engagement party, and forgot to include the registry. My mom got about a million questions about where we were registering...people just want to know so they can get you a gift they know you can use!
  6. I just signed my contract with Moon Palace on Friday, our wedding date is set for June 14, 2010!!! We are really, really excited and can't wait for June! Has anyone had their wedding there yet? I am a little bit confused on all the needed documentation, and was hoping someone would be able to tell me how their experience went first hand. I dont want to get there and not have what we need. I know I'm a little early with getting things started, I dont think they really start planning on their end until a few months prior. Thanks Meggen[/font]

    Hello all! :)

Hey there everyone! I just joined today, and am hoping to get some first hand info on destination weddings! My name is Meggen and I am a bride-to-be! My fiance Kevin and I got engaged in Atlanta, GA in December of 2008. We've recently moved to Virginia and opened our chiropractic office! We are planning a June 14, 2010 destination wedding to Punta Cana, DR! We have chosen Moon Palace Golf, Casino and Spa Resort. We actually have quite a large party travelling with us, and are excited for all the fun ahead!!! Look forward to sharing and chatting with everyone! Cheers , Meggen
