I did go to the SS office and it was a breeze, I got a number filled out the form for a new card and presented my Mexican Wedding Cert., I got my nes SS card in the mail 1 week later.

Cecilia Dumas! I was just married 7.23.10 and already have my prints and the slide show. She was amazing, and her prices were very reasonable for the packages that I saw when researching.

Back from the DMV, and my name is changed on my DL and State ID. I used my Birth Cert., my current DL, and my Marriage Cert. from Mexico (in spanish) with no problems. I had to pay $15 for the new DL and ID, also had to get a new pic because my DL # changed so be ready for that. Next stop is the Social Security Office on Monday...I'll let you know how that goes.

I was just married at RPLA on 7.23.10 and used Cecilia Dumas, she IS AMAZING. My hubby and I have always feared our wedding pictures turning out horrible, since we are both un-photogenic, but the pictures somehow turned out awesome. Cecilia was great, told us when we looked tense or when the smiles were forced, she even made us laugh and snapped a few candid moments. She also had a TON of ideas and locations to photograph us. I was just there (marrried 7.23.10 at RIU Palce Las Americas), and I have been to Cancun 3 times in the last 4 years, I have also been to Cabo, Puerto Vallarta, Cozumel....Cancun is the best by far, the best resorts and beaches. Believe me the people that choose to come to your wediing will be RAVING about the place. My coworker was married at the Royal 2 years ago, and she said she has never been anywhere more beautiful, she went to Domincan Republic for her anniversary and said she wished she would have simply returned to Cancun.

I was just married at the RIU Palace Las Americas next door to RIU Cancun. Some of my guests stayed at the RIU Caribe and said that it was very nice. I think that the RIU Cancun is a little more modern as far as decor though.

Mrs. Martin, I saw you had your reception at La Pacha, about how big was it? I am concerned about renting the place out because we will probably have only 30 guests and I'm worried that it will seem empty and weird in there. But on the other hand we can't have our first dance anywhere else...that I know of.

Also wanted to share re. Mom's/family. It's not Mom in my case but my sister and my fiance's sister. my sister says she can't afford this either even tho I told them about this plan last year! my fiance's sister says that Mexico is too dangerous of a place to go because of the cartels and all the rapes that go on there. If you can believe it she cited a website w/ a story about some college girls that got raped back in 2007.
