We are just going with the free wedding package so that leaves alot for the imagination... I am completely stressed out and have not recieved replies in over a month!!! This is after I had at least 10 problems with the wedding coordinator herself. First she told me that i couldn't have a legal mearriage (which really sucks) because that is what we wanted. Then I have like 3 or 4 coordinators emailing me various things like: 1. You do not even have a wedding booked at our resort 2. Someone else has taken your time slot for the wedding 3. I am your coordinator please send the money for the package you want (after i already sent money and already had a coordinator 4. We have no record that you are even booked with our resort to stay. I seriously should not be this stressed but their wedding department is giving me no other options. They are honestly the hardest people to get a hold of and when you do they tell you conflicting information....I don't know what to do I seriously just want to cry Hi sweetie, first of all take a big breath and pour yourself a glass of wine. 3 weeks is still enough time to fix everything no matter how confusing the situation appears right now. It is absolutely normal to feel stressed and emotional so close to the wedding and with so many things up the air. My advice would be: 1.Find out who the manager is for the WC's, its probably the groups and events manager for the resort (call the reception of the hotel and ask for that person). 2. Very calmly with all the strength you can compose, explain to this person your issues, point by point (have them written down so you dont go off on a tangent). Please trust me, the calmer you are the more they will help you. 3. Find out what is and isnt booked and write down what she tells you is not booked. Then send an email immediatly after asking her to confirm ASAP the unbooked items. 4. If you really dont have a judge for the day you can consider the following option: Sign the legal papers with the judge in the morning (Quietly, no one has to know) and then in front of friends and family hold a symbolic ceremony, the retired judge is available for symbolic weddings and your guests wont know you've already signed the papers. Your wedding will be fabulous, just take a deep breath and start managing the resort!! Kelly

The majestic is the only resort that i have seen online that has a chapel and because my parents are sooo catholic- its a must for me.. any info you have i would greatly appreciate it! thanks!- kelly Hi Kelly, Punta cana itself has a catholic Church, so if you wanted to you could consider using any resort and go off site to the church for the ceremony. Otherwise the priests are happy to perform in a garden gazebo where people are not sun bathing nearby.
  3. A DJ really helps with the over all atmosphere.. But, just an idea: If you book a microphone and speaker/s with the resort (Cant cost $300) couldnt you plug an ipod into the equipment?
  4. Congrats! I dont know about the weddings at Ocean Blue, but the hotel is lovely, you and your guests will have a great time
  5. Hi With regards to a catholic ceremony there is a cute Catholic church in Punta Cana, or the one in la Romana as you mention, but this is at least 1.5 hours travelling time each way. The Majestic also has a little chapel on site, so in theory you should be able to use that. The preists will only perform the cermeony in a location which is chapel - like: i,e a gazebo etc. as long as its not near people sunbathing in bikinis, they wont do the ceremony near half naked people!!
  6. PS: The historical sights are mainly all in the capital, Santo Domingo which is 3.5 hours by road.

Please do not be afraid to go out of the hotel. The only issue with dreams is it is a little further out of the Bavaro village area, so a short taxi ride will get you to Bavaro. Once there, there are a few plazas with shops, bars, a cinema, hard rock cafe etc. it is small and still developing, but still worth an afternoon out of the hotel complex. There are loads of excursions to do which are sold at the tour desks in the hotels, taking one of the big open top trucks is a great way to see the real DR. Or theres plenty of boat options too, like a relaxing catamaran or swimming with sharks and rays HAVE FUN!!
  8. If it were just dancing on the beach you could get away without extra lighting. If you decide to have the tables on the beach I would for sure recommend lights
  9. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Gabi terrace is right next to the Gabi beach with just a low wall between the 2 areas. The other option is to put the tables on the sand at the Gabi beach so as not to divide the two spaces. Dancing directly on the sand is not impossible, but consider your wedding group: Age ranges and personalities? Are they the type to kick their heels off and dance on the sand or are they a group that would need a hard floor surface?
  10. Hi Vonnie6, Your question about how many days before the wedding you need to arrive depends on the resort planner: There is NO legal law in DR that specifies you need to be there in advance, LEGALLY you could get married the day you arrive. That said the planners will want you there in advance becuase they make all the arrangements once you arrive, hence they have 3 or 4 days to book flowers, cake etc etc. Hope this helps
