  1. Jenn- I wouldn't worry about how long the Grand has been open. I got married at the IRHS only a few months after it was open last year and we honeymooned at the Grand. Even at that time the Grand was wonderful. The only reason we didn't get married at the Grand was that we had children coming to our wedding. My husband and 3 couples that went to our wedding last year have already booked to go back to the Grand for our anniversary. Two familys that went to our wedding have booked at the Suites to go back. Both resorts are awesome and the staff will make you want to go back again and again. I haven't posted a review for my wedding yet, but I will, I promise. Things have finally settled down to where I can think about writing a review. We had over 5000 photos to go through and I finally have that done so I can post some pictures too. Feel free to PM me with questions.
  2. Hey Ladies! We survived our wedding at the Suites last Friday and I just wanted to jump on here (during my honeymoon) and say everything was perfect and I can't think of a better place to have a wedding. You are all in good hands with Nicole. I will post a complete review with photos next week when we are back from our honeymoon. Please feel free to shoot me your questions. As a side note, the night of the wedding my husband and I were moved over to the Grand for our honeymoon. It is the most romantic place we have ever stayed and if you don't have plans for your honeymoon yet, CONSIDER IT! It is over the top luxury and very, very quite. We feel like we are the only ones here. And when we want to party, we just go over to the Suites. I saw a post asking about upgrading your cake, and that is something you can do with Nicole when you start to plan. We upgraded ours to a three tier because we had 40 people and it didn't cost us anything. You basically pay for it when you pay for the additional guests in your package. Also, you can get custom centerpieces when you do your planning with Tai Flora but it will be extra. I worked with Natalie at TF and she was awesome and had some good ideas. She has a 1-800 number and is really quick getting back to you. I ended up using hurricanes with petals and floating candles for aisle runner decorations and then they were moved from the ceremony to the reception tables. That was how we kept our flower budget reasonable. I will post pics soon. Got to go to dinner...
  3. Does anyone know of a company down in Montego Bay that does sunset cruises. I want to have one for my rehersal dinner event but it seems like every company I talk to only offers snorkeling tours, trips to Dunn's or Rick's that include seeing the sunset. The problem with that is we want to dress up and not get wet. So I guess what I am saying is I am looking for a company that has a sunset cruise where the cruise is actually the event and not just a added bonus. thanks in advance!
  4. Does anyone know if we can send things down by fedex prior to the wedding? I want to send down my OTT bags ahead of time. Thanks!
  5. Thank you so much for posting your review! I am getting married at the SUITES on July 31, 2009. I was originally supposed to get married at Azul Sensatori in Riveria Maya but changed a few months back after my site visit and all the bad reviews they were getting. You review makes me feel good about my choice. I can't wait to see your photos!

I am going to have 50 or so people at my wedding at the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites. I have the wedding price sheets for the Suites and some of the options are only for groups of 50 or more. If you PM me with your email I can send it to you. I can't speak for the Beach or the Grand, but they are both as large as Suites so I can't think of why 50 would be too many.
  7. Sparkles8300, thanks for the suggestion. I will look into it! You are going to love the Grand I bet. I saw a trip advisor review that said it is better than the Ritz in Montego Bay and I think it looks beautiful. I would have had my wedding at the Grand if we weren't having kids in the wedding. I say go for it!
  8. Jennifer and Alex Iberostar Rose Hall Suites July 31, 2009 In JA: July 27-August 7 We are honeymooning at Iberostar Grand Rose Hall (3 nights) and undecided for remaining 4 nights. Thinking about Negril. Any suggestions?
  9. Hello everyone. I just got my confirmation for our wedding at the Suites on July 31, 2009. I am very excited because we changed resorts last minute due to the terrible reviews the mexican resort we originally booked was getting after it opened in December 2009. I must say it feels good to read reviews of the Suites and know that our guests will have great vacation. I am having a hard time, however, finding any photos or reviews about any Suites weddings. I am sure it has to do with it being so new. If any one has any photos of a wedding there that they could post, I would greatly appreciate it. I haven't really started planning yet, but my TA is going to be staying at the Suites the first week of March. She wants me to put together a list of things I want photos of. I have a heafty list already, but I would be happy to include any suggestions other Suites brides may have. Thanks and happy planning!
  10. For all those who have their hearts set on Zocalo, I would double check with the WCs at the resort before giving up. When I was there for my site visit in Decemeber, I sat out on the terrace with Carolyn and Gilberto and told them that I was having 40-50 people and that I wanted Zocalo! They said would be fine and they showed me how eveything would be arranged. I think another option could be to ask to have some of the inside of the restaurant reserved for your party as well. There are two double doors located at the western most part of the terrace that open up into a little cove of the restaurant. I bet they would let you use that area-but it might be something you would have to arrange when you get there because the WCs would be the ones who could give the okay.
  11. Hello everyone, After much, much deliberation, my fiance and I decide to move our wedding to another resort. I just want to thank everyone for all their support and wish everyone the best of luck planning.
  12. I think there is a more comprehensive list with my date on it out there somewhere, but I added it again anyway because I get excited when I think about it! I'm just curious as to how many people it holds. I can't wait to read your review! I will be there in February for a site inspection as well. I can't wait to see it in person. When I was there for my site inspection, I sat with Gilberto and Caroline on the Zocalo terrace and told them that I would like to have a reception with 60 to 80 pp. I was told the terrace would be fine for that many. However, I am still 8 months away and I haven't seen any confirmation in writing. I am so glad you get to go see the resort before you plan. It really helped me put a lot of my anxiety to rest. And like I said before, until I was there, I had planned on picking the plaza for my reception. But when I saw the Zocalo terrace, it had such a mexican vibe (it is the mexican cantina)to it and you could see and hear the ocean-- I just knew that was the place. Really when it comes down to it, the difference will be what type of reception you want. I can just imagine it at night with the sconces on and a whole bunch of candles lit--I feel like it will be cozy and intimate at night. The only thing I will say about the Plaza that is logistical and not just a personal preference is that I feel like wind will be an issue. The plaza is tucked in side the buildings but it seemed like the wind came off the ocean and was directed right through the buildings over that spot. When I was on the terrace, it felt more sheltered. However, I was onl on the property for about 6 hours so it could have been the weather that day. Again, I welcome any questions, because realistically not everyone can go down there and I am glad to help in any way I can. I can't tell you all how awesome it is after a long day at work and a long night of planning and internet browsing ahead of me to sit down and read all the posts on this forum and feel like you all understand what I am going through--the good and the bad Thanks to all and have a Happy New Year!
  14. Magda's review made me feel a lot better too! I was down there for a site inspection in early December and the only thing I have been worried about is the SERVICE. When I was there it was only 30% capacity and we ate lunch at Zoloco. It took a really long time, but the food was great! It seems like things keep getting better and better... The rest of the resort is gorgeous, and I can say that once I was there, I changed my mind on a lot of things. First, I am opting for the sky wedding--it is worth the money in my opinion and it will be more private. Second, I am going to do the reception outside on the terrace of Zoloco. It is so neat how it over looks the ocean and there is plenty of room to have tables and a dance floor. I feel like this space above all captures the essence of why I wanted to do a destination wedding. Laid back, warm and inviting. Sorry I haven't posted a review yet, I was swamped at work when I got back and with the holidays I haven't had time. I will get something put together this weekend. Feel free to message me with any specific questions.
  15. Hey all, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I am leaving for my my cruise early Sunday (Nov. 30) morning and will be doing a site visit at Sensatori on Friday (Dec. 5). I plan on taking a bunch of pictures and reporting back on how everything goes. If anyone has any specific questions they want me to ask while I am there, PM me or post them and I will do my best to get them answered!
