  1. I was going to get married on the beach, but changed my mind when I got there. The gazebo is much more private. No matter what you're going to have people stopping and watching the ceremony. If you're in the gazebo you don't notice the outsiders as much.
  2. There is no difference between the legal or renewal of vows ceremony other than it's not legal. The ceremony is exactly the same. We got married here first and did the renewal of vows ceremony. They even get you to sign a marriage certificate.
  3. Candice I've sent you pics from my wedding. When picking sides of the resort take whatever the cheapest price is. It's the same resort just different airline carriers cover different sides. You share the same restaurants, pools and wedding location. NSCHEATHAM: In your meeting with the WC you will go over the ceremony. I did the renewal of vows but they do the same ceremony as the legal one.

  5. The meeting with the wedding coordinator is only about 20 minutes. You just quickly go through all of your choices. You don't have a choice of sides of the resort. It really is one resort. Everything is shared except the the reception/check in areas are seperate. The gazebo location I guess you would say is on the Riviera side. But once again everything is shared.
  6. For dinners in the a la carte restaurants. The first 20 people are included in the package any others are $10 a person. I had 25 people and it wasn't a problem. The dinners are at 6 or 9 because they try to keep the restaurants fairly empty. I was originally supposed to get married at 4 but changed the ceremony to 3. 3:00 gave us lots of time for champagne after the ceremony and pictures. If you call they can probably change your time. If your getting married in November I would be worried about getting married at 6 because of daylight. I was married in January and we were losing daylight by 5 or 5:30.
  7. I asked the wedding coordinator during our meeting to set the table up in a "U" shape. They used the flowers from the gazebo. If you send me your email I'll email you a pic of the set up. We had to choose a set menu. The food was amazing, we had the beef with chocolate soulle. Which is steak with chocolate souffle. The egg foie gras for an appetizer, pumpkin soup and petit fours for dessert. They were all really good. I booked a hair appointment when I got down there but I wasn't there at a busy time. I know Damarys likes to book it a week before you arrive. I didn't have a trial just took pics of exactly what I wanted. She did a really good job. She doesn't speak english well so definitely take pics.
  8. I was also given the white tulle gazebo decorations for free. The gazebo was set up when I got there for another wedding and I asked the wedding coordinator if they were standard and she said yes. That is one of the reasons I switched from the beach back to the arch. We ate in Le Fleur for our reception and it was excellent. I tried all the restaurants except for the seafood while I was there. My 2 favororite would be Le Fleur and Miso. They set the table up at the back of the room and it felt like a private reception. There was only one other table of 2 in the whole restaurant and they were at the far end. We had 25 people and the set the table up in a "u" shape which created a head table.
  9. I'm pretty sure you can bring in a photographer. I believe if they are not staying at the hotel then you need to buy them a day pass. I would email Damarys and ask she usually will get back to you within a couple of days.
  10. I just had my wedding at the Grand sunset princess and loved it. I had my choices down to that and Dreams Tulum. Both were around the same price. My deciding factor was that Sunset only has a max of 2 weddings per day where as Dreams has up to 5. The wedding more then exceeeded my expectations. I would highly recomend it.
  11. I got married January 10th we had great weather the week we were there and the resort wasn't super busy which was nice. I know the week after we left the weather was cooler. If you go on trip advisor and search for weather conditions in Playa it will give you link to a site that shows the weather trends from the past 5 years. January is usually great no rain but for some reason this year seems to be different. November however is part of hurricane season so I would say you are taking more of a chance. I had a friend get married in playa in November a few years ago and their wedding week was great weather but they stayed for an extra week and were evcuated because of a hurricane.
  12. I was originally going to get married on the beach with the arch but when I got there and saw the gazebo I changed my mind. The gazebo is so much nicer in person. It is also more private then where they put the arch. As far as flowers I got them from the resort as part of the package. They were BEAUTIFUL!!! I had all white lillies. The standard decorations with the gazebo were great, lots of flowers. They took the flowers from the gazebo to decorate the restaurant. We ate at the french restaurant. It was great. They set the tables up in a big u shape at the far end, it felt like a private reception. I had seen a wedding the night before with the tables like that so just made sure to ask Yvonne to do the same thing. It is Yvonne that you will meet with 2 days before the wedding to finalize everything she is really nice and helpful. For the ceremony, if you bring a cd they will play whatever music you want before the ceremony as well. We did the champagne toast on the beach after the wedding. I didn't use the resort photographer I had a friend who came with me that did all the pictures. Just a hint try to sneak in to the villa suites area when taking pics there's alot of nice photo spots in there. For the first dance they do it in the outsude bar in the plaza. There's a small dance floor in front of where the band plays. That's where most couples have there dance. Just outside the bar is a fountain area with a bridge over the water surrounded by lights and fountains. We had our first dance there. It was amazing!! Just give your cd to the band the music is loud enough to hear it on the bridge. Also I emailed the reservations desk a week before we left and asked for an upgrade for my husband and I. When we got there they had given a free upgrade to our whole group. When I got there I asked if my husband and I could have a swim up suite and they upgraded us to that free of charge. Hope this helps. Almost forgot I had my hair done at the salon. I brought pics of exactly what I wanted and she did an awesome job. The whole wedding completely exceeded my expectations, you guys will love it!!! I'm working on pictures. I will get them sent out soon.
  13. Hi guys, I just got back and everything exceeded my expectations. It was amazing. Feel free to ask any questions.
  14. I'm getting married here before we leave. I've spoke to quite a few people that have been married in Mexico and all of them strongly recomended taking care of the legal part before going. Those of them that didn't said they spent the first 2 days running around trying to get the blood work done and waiting for the people to show up that it wasted the first 2 days of their holiday. We're just going to City hall and signing the paper work we're not exchanging rings or doing any of the any of the formal stuff. I will still consider Mexico as my wedding. It also saves on all the tanslation fees you would have to pay to have your mexican wedding certificate translated.
