Question for you barefoot brides on the beach...

Recommended Posts

For those of you who went barefoot for the ceremony on the beach and then put shoes on for the reception, when you did alterations for length, what length did you use? Was it altered to the length it was while you were barefoot or did you have it altered for the length it was with shoes on?

When I ordered my dress, they took the measurements for it with the height of the heel for shoes that I said I'd probably get for the reception. The salesperson mentioned that if I didn't & had it measured barefoot, it would be too short once I put shoes on. My 1st fitting isn't until Feb so I'm wondering what I should do when the time comes.

Any suggestions? I don't want the dress too short but I also don't want to be tripping on it if its too long when I'm barefoot. Actually tho, I haven't decided if I'm going to be totally barefoot or just have on some cute flip flops. Eitherway, I'll still have on 2 diff heel heights.

Sorry for the long post, just trying to figure this out!!!

The salon told me to bring my wedding heels to the fitting. I said I'm not wearing shoes at the wedding and they were like "what do you mean?!" LOL I guess they don't handle many DWs...

So they based the alterations on me being barefoot, and I told them I was wearing barefoot sandals (you know the beaded things) so I wanted my feet to show slightly.

I changed into a white sundress midway through the reception and stayed barefoot in that too. I was barefoot the whole time basically and it felt fabulous! I had white flip flops but didn't wear them until I got on the boat to leave.

I'm going to wear a small heel so I am comfy. Maybe 2 inches or so. I'm going to have the fitting with my shoes on b/c the only time I will be without shoes is for the ceremony and some pic's on the beach. After that, I will be in shoes the remainder of the night and I don't want my dress to be too short. I rather it a little long while I'm on the beach...

That pretty much happened to me... and the look they gave me when I said that I wasn't wearing a veil!
The dress I got (ie the one in questioning right now) only needs to be altered at the neck. But the length is great!

OMG...I'm glad this didn't only happen to me. First, the ladies at the salon were like "You're wearing THIS DRESS on the BEACHhuh.gif?". Then when I mentioned no shoes they said "NO SHOES EITHERhuh.gif?" It was hilarious. I think I'm gonna have it altered with the shoes so that it doesnt end up short cuz I know I'm gonna have shoes on for the rest of the night too. I'd hate for it too be too short!

Not only do they not get it, but when you do tell them your having a DW, they bring you dresses that they think are suited for the beach.

The 1st time I went to look, I had pics of all the dresses I wanted to see. I then mentioned that it was a DW on the beach. This woman proceeded to bring me 5 dresses that I did not ask for, but that she felt WERE BEACHY!!! I hated every single one of them. BangHead.gif My MOH was like, is she serious?

I then asked to see the dresses that I PICKED & after she brought them out she proceeded to mention that none of them were beachy & she really couldn't see how it'd work on the beach....SIGH....From that point on I learned not to tell any consultants about the beach idea for fear that I'd be discouraged on trying a dress that I really wanted to see.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
