Gran Bahia Principe Roll Call

Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you! I think it really depends on what you order there... a few in our group ordered the Grilled Seafood and liked it (while some didn't) - it could just be that it's a seafood restaurant and some didn't like seafood though. For me, it was the noodles and sauce that was off - the shrimp was delicous.

Okay girls. Just found out from the wedding coordinator that our wedding group will be too large for Le Gourmet. From the stuff she sent me last fall, it looks like my choices are Portofino, El Pescador, or the Mediterranean Rest. Is Portofino any good? FI and I hate seafood, so that is out.

The decor is about as good as any of the other restaurants. (Like the Tequila - where we had our dinner). It's not super fancy, but they dress is up nice for your reception. You may want to bring or buy extras to dress up the tables - we didn't, so the only things we had were the flower centerpiece (used at the ceremony) and then they had our menus printed out, rolled up and tied with a ribbon - very nice especially as I wasn't expecting it. We were happy with it.

So I assume they would do the same thing at all the restaurants... but you might want to ask.

You're not going to get a super fancy restaurant if you're not having it at the gourmets but you will get better service for sure. (And I mean that the other restaurants are very nice... just not as fancy as the gourmets).

If I could do it again - I would definitely pick the Tequila (again) or the Mediterrean.

I don't want it to be too fancy. We probably won't bring any additional decorations down. Whatever they decorate with will be fine. Just want to make sure that the restaurant is good. Would love to have some sort of Mexican sampler meal since we are having a Mexican wedding. But, I'm not too fussy. Just want to make sure the food is something people will eat.

So, you enjoyed all the restaurants? Not sure how picky my guests will be about "different" foods or not. My family will be fine (most of them at least) and I think most of FI's family wil be fine. I guess we'll find out!

Carrie - we did really like all the restaurants. For our wedding supper we had the Mexican Platter for Appetizers, the Azteca Soup (which is a very spicy tomato based soup), Stuffed Chicken Breast Medallions and Tres Leche Cake for dessert. I suggest getting something different for your appetizers/soup but sticking with something more traditional for the main course.

Jenny - Our ceremony was at 3pm (we had originally planned for 2pm - but changed our minds as that would leave a lot of time in between the cermony and dinner). This was perfect for us as we only had our photographer for 3 hours (she came at 2pm and stayed until 5pm). Supper was at 6:30. It worked out great. I can't remember exactly what time sunset was - but it was still quite light out when we went for supper. But probably not the best or enough light for pictures... but I'm no pro either. Sorry. I do know that while we were waiting for the main course it was already completely dark outside.

Great!...that is a HUGE help....they gave us 4pm or 3pm for the ceremony time and I didn't want it to be sunset and have to rush around like a madwoman to get all the photos we want...I think we will have the ceremony at 3 too...that seems like a good time...Your food menu sounds good too!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
