So I believe I found the travel agent that we want to work with on all of the travel arrangements for our guests and ourselves. We are having a meeting with her on Saturday.  What should be some questions we ask her?  TYIA

Congrats and welcome to the site! Getting a TA is definitely something that is recommended, if only for your own sanity in the planning process. Your TA will become your new bff as you go through your planning journey. Try to see if there are people willing to provide a reference or references. Can the TA provide any? As about response time for questions - how long do they usually take to reply? Have they handled a lot of weddings? What is their experience level with large groups?

You don't say if you're in the US or canada - the questions might vary a little depending on where you are. Is there a fee they charge for their services? If you're in the US will they be helping guests find separate flights? Are they a top award agency with any of the resort chains? Are they certified for any of the resort chains - the owners of this site are Karisma certified agents and are top award winners.

I'm sure some of the other ladies will chime in with other questions they asked as well. Good luck!

Congrats.. I can say you need to make sure first that know as much info about your resort you are wanting to have your wedding at and the destation as well. And is willing to answer all your questions. If you need to see about group booking sometimes you get great deals that way. And will they also help your guest wtih there travel needs. If some of your guest have not traveled that much they will need to know all the rules of the airline and what all they get at the resort. So having a travel agent that will take there time to answer questions is the best. I hope this helps some.

Hi @@mzcanizales ,

When I met with my travel agent I had a list of resorts that I was looking into so I asked about her experience with those resorts what she knows about them and what the previous brides and their guests thought about them.  She was able to show me pictures of weddings at the resorts and pictures from her recent visits at the resorts. I also asked her about wedding party size, what was the largest party she had to book for and what the entire process was like. I also asked about the benefits of using an agent. My agent impressed me during the initial meeting and she has been very good at responding to e-mails quickly. I felt much better after meeting with her and she is currently planning a trip for me and my fiance to visit 3 resorts in January. Good luck with your meeting!

Thanks! The agent we met with really impressed me.  The information she gave at times, though sounded too good to be true.  For instance, she said if we were having difficulty getting our guests to get their down payments in, she would offer an incentive i.e. if you are to get your deposit in by this date your name will be added to a drawing for $250.  She said that money would come out of her pocket.  Plus she owns this business by herself and works out of her home.  In the contract she provided, she requested our credit card info to make the payment to book her.  My fiance is a little leary just because she does work out of her home and all of our correspondence would be thru email and the phone.  I did meet her at a bridal show, so that does ease my fears a little.   Is all this normal tactics?  I've tried to find reviews about her other than the ones on her website, but cant find anything.  She is listed on the BBB, but with no reviews.  I really liked her but my fiance is a little sketchy and I totally understand why. Please help !

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
