Ashhtayy's Planning Thread - Azul Fives - June 7, 2016

Recommended Posts

Oh! I'm all over for work and I keep popping into Dollarama's buying two tumblers here, three there, and today (2.5 hours north) the store had an unopened box of 24 in the back! Finally the search for tumblers is over. All we have to do now is get the stickers.

@@calgarybride2015 - You used Davet Designs on etsy, right? If you were to do it again, would you order from them? Did they hold up perfectly or would you have tried DIY? Thanks :)

Bridesmaids Dresses

They're in! My MOH is going to pick all the dresses up and bring them to my shower next Sunday. After the shower we're going to have a little fashion show and decide if we want to leave the cap sleeves or have them removed. Next thing is shoes for the girls :)

I would do it again. Yes shipping was pricey but they are top quality. We used them all week in Mexico in the sand, pool and ocean. They've been washed by hand and in the dishwasher and still look new :) I tried to make my own but realized I was far from crafty. Retailers in our city were too expensive. I'd say just do it :)

Apparently if you mention that you are a member of the "Canadian Destination Wedding Brides" group on Facebook when ordering from Davet Designs, you get reduced shipping prices. I know you're not on Facebook, so hopefully she doesn't check, lol.

@@krystalball Thanks Krystal! When I wrote her today I said something about how she came highly recommended from several brides. When she replies I will mention 'Canadian Destination Wedding Brides' group and see if that gets me anywhere lol

When do you leave? SAFE TRAVELS & HAVE AN AMAZING WEDDING!

@@ashhtayy Looks like you are making a lot of progress. Your dress fitting sounded, um, interesting. Any update on getting another appointment?

I got my belt from the same Etsy seller who made my dress. I'm super happy with it. She has lots of options and prices seem to range from $40 - $130ish. Mine was $50, I think. She's located in BC, so it's CAD as well!

@@vancouverpetunia Dress update: This shouldn't be surprising based on how my appointment went - I was supposed to get a call to schedule my next appointment on Tuesday or Wednesday; no one called. I called on Friday and the lady that picked up the phone was the same lady that said she was going to call earlier in the week. She said she never said that lol I said okay, well when can I come in? She said she would call me later that night and schedule the appointment. It's a day later and she hasnt called. I'll try again on Monday. Again, I'm not mad, it's still comical...but it won't be for much longer. Hopefully by the time you get back from your wedding I will have had my second appointment :)

I'll check your girl out. Thank you!! And again, I hope you have an amazing time. I love everything you've done and your guests will too. Can't wait to see photos :) Safe travels!

@ashhtayy  Ash I'm so, so sorry for not being here. I've just finished reading about 20+ pages of your thread trying to catch up. Things have been tough the last couple of months for several reasons so I haven't been around the site. I've tried to read bits and pieces but really have missed a lot. I've apologized to Erin as well, and tried to with Krystal. Still others I need to get to.

I don't even know where to start. Another one that is just so organized and has put everything together so beautifully! I've been lucky enough to be part of a very special group of young ladies over the last year!

First, congrats on being a Mrs!! What a great surprise for Mike's family being here. When you think about everything that goes into even just the legal ceremony, it's over pretty quick isn't it? Not long now til Mexico!

I love your rings together. They're beautiful! Your final decision on your flowers is perfect! They're gorgeous! I really love the white and blush together. Your centerpieces will be stunning all put together and all of your print work turned out so pretty!!

Omg your dress!! I'm so sorry you've had some drama with it, but it looks just absolutely gorgeous on you!! Hopefully your next appointment goes a bit better. The shoes you got to go with it will be perfect! I love comfort over style and i think for your wedding it's the perfect decision.

Mike's attire is totally sexy! I really do like blue in suits. Doug won't wear it (he's too old fashioned) even though I would have loved to have him in blue. With a bow tie, it's very handsome!

I'm sorry about the little drama you've had along the way - with your registry and with AF. I'm not going to go against AF at all, but the lack of communication is what led to me cancelling with them. It was disappointing but in the end it worked out for us. I know your wedding is going to be spectacular! Just like the other ladies, you've put so much of yourself into it, I know it will be magical!

Even though I'm late to the party I'm going to agree with the other ladies. Wine at your tables isn't necessary. A cocktail table will be perfect for your MC. I ADORE the show dress!! You have a gorgeous figure for it! (lucky girl!) I thought I had some of the straws around but I think I just left them in Mexico, otherwise you could have had them. Peach Bellini!! YUM!!! I absolutely love those!! Our resort made the most incredible mango daiquiris so I slurped those up all week! lol Your guest book idea is great! The map leading to Mexico is an awesome idea!!

As an fyi I filed a report on the horrible person that posted her awful review on your thread. Totally inappropriate! There is a review section for that, and it's where it should have been filed. People are absolutely entitled to their opinions, and I feel bad that bride had such a bad experience, some of which may have been of her own making, but putting it on your thread was just not the right thing to do.

Again, I'm really sorry I've missed so much and congrats again on the legal wedding! I know there's things I haven't commented on and I apologize for that too. I don't know how I'll ever get caught up.

Not long to go now! The time will fly by!

@@acw271011 Please don't be sorry. I hope you are okay and that things are looking up. We've missed you but take care of yourself if you need to. We will be here :) Hope to see you Friday!

Thanks for the congrats & all your other sweet comments! Being a Mrs. feels the exact same lol Probably because we've really downplayed it. I'm just so excited to get to Mexico. In my heart, those are the real 'I do's'. And you're right - it's over in a blink of an eye. I love how our legal came together but it did come and go very quickly.

A year ago Mike would have went with a grey or tan; something more neutral. He now works for a high(er) end women's retailer (sounds odd lol) and they're obviously all about fashion. I think this influenced his decision and I couldn't be happier. He looks amazing in his suit :) and I LOVE the blue.

Communication with AF isn't great but I imagine it could be a lot worse. My fingers are crossed that their move to an onsite coordinator will make planning the last minute details much easier. I'll be sure to write an update once my WD is in touch.

Thank you for filling the complaint; I know others did too. I didn't actually see her big rant and that's probably for the better. I wasn't phased by her experience. It is what you make of it. That's been my attitude throughout the process and I don't intend on changing it based on her comments. There are so many brides that had beautiful weddings at AF and I can only hope ours will be the same.

Thanks for popping in and don't worry about catching up on everything :)

A Few Updates

- I ordered Mike and the groomsmens bow ties today from etsy - as of right now everyone's wearing blush. They were super cheap so I'm hoping the old "you get what you pay for" isn't true. If they work, I may carry one with me and try and find Mike one that matches but sets him apart from the group.

post-282006-0-94669900-1459824288_thumb.jpg

- I ordered a print with our wedding song lyrics on it from etsy today. I've seen this in a lot of other brides threads and had to have it. It's going to be the same font as the rest of our signage but in a grey or black so I can hang it with our guestbook map when we get home :)

I'm not sure I posted our wedding song but we are using A Thousand Years - Christina Perri and Steve Kazee version. No, we aren't twilight fans (well I sort of am), we just love this version.

These lyrics in print...

And all along I believed I would find you

Time has brought your heart to me

I have loved you for a thousand years

I'll love you for a thousand more...

- My engagement ring split today. It's been resized three times and I guess the last time they didn't "seal" it properly. The band had a hairline split in it. I took it right to the jeweller and I could tell they were embarrassed. Thankfully they said this wasn't my fault and would fix it. I'm engagement ringless until Friday. Fingers crossed it comes in on time because my shower is on Sunday and I'd like to have my ring.

- No dress update. I still haven't heard from the shop. No call Tuesday, Wenesday or Friday. All days in which they promised to call back. I'll call tomorrow and if they don't have an appointment booked for me I'll pick up my dress after work and take it somewhere local. Enoughs enough!

- My onsite wedding coordinator called today. She's super nice but she isn't my old wedding coordinator. I miss her lol I didn't have much to ask but I appreciated the introduction call and she was able to take care of the pricing errors they made on my wedding builder.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
