Torn Between A Few Pc Resorts....any Feedback Is Appreciated!

Recommended Posts

I am starting to look at destinations for my 2016 DW. So far it looks like Punta Cana has the most options so that is where we are mainly focused. However there are so many that I am torn between a few, so I would appreciate any feedback from anyone who has visited these resorts.

First off, a few things about my wedding: we will have between 60-70 guests of all ages (including toddlers). We want everything (ceremony reception, etc) on the beach. I would like to keep everything budget friendly for my guests, without being too cheap.

I have read reviews of some of the places having choppy, seaweedy water and the beaches not the best.....however, these reviews were a little outdated (2011?) so I was looking for more recent reviews on the resort itself, weddings, and the beach there.

These are our top picks so far: (in no order)

Barcelo Punta Cana or barcelo Bavaro Palace,.. Not sure the difference yet

Zoetry Agua PC

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino

Iberostar PC

Paradisus PC

Now Larimar

Dreams PC or La Romana

Memories Splash PC

Or if there are any other great resorts I may have missed.

Congrats on planning a DW. You don't say what country you're in but a travel agent is your best reference in terms of what you want in a resort and what will work for your budget. If you're in the US, the owners of this website are specialists in destination weddings. They would be worth talking to. If you're in Canada, there are any number of travel agents that brides here have worked with so I know you could get at least one recommendation depending on what part of the country you're in.

The other thing would be to look through the resort reviews and see specifically what past brides have said about their experience.

Good luck and happy planning!

Hello There,

I am in the same boat as you! We are planning a 2016 destination wedding as well. Our best friends got married at Now Larimer last year and it was the most amazing place we have ever been to. The wedding was absolutely beautiful, the beaches were so, so nice and the pools were amazing. No matter what time of the day you went to the pool, there was ALWAYS lots of chairs for the whole wedding party. The resort was so clean and everyone was so nice and accommodating. I wish we could could have our wedding there but I don't want to steal their special spot. If i was you, I would go there NO QUESTIONS asked.

I'm getting married at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe (I think Barcelo Punta Cana is smaller).  I went for a site visit in September and loved it.  We also are expecting a lot of guests of all ages, including toddlers, and they really do have something for everyone and lots of restaurants to choose from.  They have a kids play area with water slides and fountains for the little ones as well as a small water park that my fiance and I even enjoyed.  The resort is split into a family side and an adult side which is nice for those who want to lay on the beach or at the pool without kids being around.

I haven't been to the other resorts you listed, so I can't say much about them, but I went with BBPD because it was reasonably priced and can accomodate all of my guests.  I went to the Now Sapphire resort in Mexico a few years ago and loved it, so I'm sure Now Larimar will be just as great - just not sure if they are as kid friendly.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
