Vancouver Bride Planning A 2016 Moon Palace Wedding

Hi everyone! We've decided to have our January 2016 wedding at Moon Palace and I'm so excited (16 months to go). I know it's high season during this month but we would love to get away to a hot destination to celebrate our wedding. We've been quoted around $2300 for flight (taxes incl), transfers and 7-night stay. Is this average or is his too high? Should I wait around January 2015 for price quotes, will they be better? Any advice would be appreciated :)

Congrats!!

What week in January are you getting married, because I have not considered January high season!  Feb - April moreso is, due to spring break and holidays, etc.

I don't have much experience with Moon Palace, but that price seems steep to me!

I am staying at the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya - January 17-24 2015 from Calgary, AB and we are paying $1565 per person.  Maybe see the thread on here for 'Moon Palace' brides and see if you can compare pricing.  Also play around on Expedia. I booked about 8-9 months out, but we have girls getting married in 2016, so maybe they can chime in on pricing that far out.

I picked my week solely based on pricing for that week !!

Good luck!

Thanks for the quick reply @@calgarybride2015! I thought it was a bit steep. I checked pricing on Expedia and pricing for January 2015 is around $2100. We haven't decided on specific dates since we're hoping we can get quoted the cheapest price in January since we're not too picky.

I'll take your advice and keep looking on here for 2016 brides.

Thanks again and good luck on the wedding planning!

No worries!

Couple more thoughts...

I am using Air Canada, I found out that they do not have direct flights from Vancouver to Cancun, Mexico, so if the airliner you are pricing does not your price would be higher.

Also consider who the airline is for January 2015 - again I am with Air Canada and our flight out of Calgary had less than 10 seats left in July 2014 so they jacked the prices up.  Our package right now on Expedia is $300 more!

So stuff like that plays a big role in the numbers.

Are you working with a travel agent? I highly recommend it.

I am in AB, but mine is in BC and she has been awesome!

Quotes we've received are for direct flights from Sunwing and Air Transat. Air Canada and Westjet don't give quotes until at least a year before departure. I am working with a travel agent and I trust her, I just wanted to get other opinions on the cost. My coworker is actually attending a wedding at Moon Palace this October and she paid $1700. And that's during hurricane season! So I guess Moon Palace is just a pricier resort.

I wanted Sunwing but they were too expensive.  Not for us, but we had a price point of under $1500 for our guests.  This was the best we could do!  Thankfully our TA recommended this hotel as I would never assumed it would have been in our price range. I priced out SO many!   Could just be the resort.    I guess it depends what your price point is and what you are comfortable with. Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
