January to End of April is High Season - Best weather & most expensive. June to October is Low Season - Hurricane Season (although I haven't heard of any brides having too many problems) & Least expensive. May, Nov & December is Shoulder Season - Weather is still pretty decent & mid range pricing. However once you start getting close to Holiday Season in December the price starts to go up. If you are looking at December I would think about the first or second week. I'm going the last week of November this year. Also Check with the resort to to see what will be open during the time you are there...some of the restaurants / pools will have shorter hours or be closed during the off season.  We went to a friends wedding in Jamaica 2 years ago in December and some of the places we wanted to go or excursions we wanted to do like the Waterpark were closed because it was off season...although most were open it helps to do your research.

@@Kerrierf Good to know! @@Meandhim you bring up some very good points.. thanks! I'm thinking first week of Dec so we shall see.

More questions..  :)

How much did all of your guests pay? Did you use a travel agent? Did they get a group discount that was less than if they all just booked online themselves?

Re: the wedding packages - after reading a lot of posts, it appears that upon meeting with the WC, she shows you a whole book of flowers. Does this mean you can get any package with any flowers? I ask because what drew me to the Ocean Pearl pkg was the bridal bouquet and ceremony decorations. However, I'm not fond of the price, and there are not many differences between that pkg and the Pure Paradise package, yet there is an $800 difference.

Thanks!!

1. My guests paid different amount depending on where they were flying from. The Toronto guests paid around 1500.... Originally 1800, but I price compared and talked Air Canada down.

2. I used a Travel agent...because I wanted to book as a group and I didn't want to be responsible for taking all the payments and deals with travel issues.

3. That is a question with a loaded answer.... Some of my guests paid a little more then if they had booked on their own but most of my guests paid less...plus I get the added benefit of group perks... We have so many booked that me, my FI, and my Photographer are free...we just pay taxes. Most group perks have every so many people you get one free... You can use it like I did or spread the saving across you guests and everyone gets a discount... I choose free people to free up my tight budget so I could upgrade some things like food and booze at the wedding.

As for the difference between the wedding packages I'm not sure and for the flower book I have no Idea. Maybe @@rebeccalane would know...she just came back and I believe she had the ocean pearl package. When reading the other old forum topics for this resort you have to keep in mind that it maybe out of date...Before the Karen bussen packages existed. Best to ask someone who's just been there or Carolina directly.

@@Meandhim awesome thanks! $1500 is good for that time! Although I'm hoping to get a bit of a lower rate, but we shall see. That's awesome that you guys are free and bonus for your photog being free, as opposed to having to pay for them to stay the week!

Ahhh I know it's so surreal!  I started packing everything yesterday. We're having such miserable weather in Ottawa that EVERYONE is counting down the days until sunshine.

I took the day off work on Friday, we're driving to Montreal at noon on Saturday, then flying out Sunday morning. Yahoo!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
