Guess List When Booking?

Recommended Posts

Hey all - looking for some help here!! I'm trying to book our wedding at RIU Palace in Cabo however when I go online and work through the process they want a guest list right now based on the package we selected. I'm guessing at the attendance at this point as obviously, having just gotten engaged on Saturday, we don't have any clue how many guests we'll actually have. I know they have an 80% guideline but are they seriously asking me to know who those people are before I've even sent a Save The Date?!?! I emailed RIU but in the meantime I thought I'd come here for some guidance. I dont want to lose our date and time but there's no way I have a guest list at this point!

Yeah that seems a little unreasonable to me! Maybe it's a little too early to fill out that online form you were looking at. I'd get in touch with the WC and explain you're just getting the ball rolling, but don't want to lose your date. I'm sure they will understand, there must be a way around it.

It didn't really tell me if they were looking for a number or list of names, it just said "Guests". So weird! I emailed the address for the RIU so I'm waiting for a reply now. Does anyone have the email for the RIU Palace specifically? I think the one on the website is a generic one that probably goes to the main office in Cancun.

Usually you do not need to give a guest list right away.  Just tell them that you will provide one later.

We usually send a guest list for our clients about 60 days out.

Tammy, I also sent an inquiry via the Wright Travel link to get some information on your services. I'm not sure how it works have a TA vs just doing the bookings ourselves but I'd love some info! Here's my direct email if that helps! [email protected]

Thanks, at least I know I'm now alone in thinking this seemed a little early! :)

Hello @@jackshayne0123 ! I'm actually getting married at the Riu Palace this August! When I first made the reservation for the date and time they did send me all the info they needed (reception location, guest list, etc.) However, they don't need it until 2 months before your wedding date. So unless, you're getting married in June of this year, you're fine. When is your wedding date, btw? :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
