@ng2015...

a while back u asked me to keep u posted on the flower situation.  I am definitely using an outside vendor for flowers.  He can do everything for a fraction of the cost that Lomas will do it.

Azul is aware of this. It is noted on my wedding sheet that I will be bringing in my own flowers & there is no vendor fee charged since the guys are going to pick them up.

For the flowers I want Lomas would have been around $2000.  I'n getting everything for $600 :)

What's the name of the vendor you're going through for flowers @talicea7912? Are you or some guests just picking them up the day of? Your wedding is fast approaching, so excited for you can't wait to see pics of how it all comes together! I'm so inpatient, we have awhile to go lol. 😃

Hey. @ karabeth

Im using marvin with maya floral.  I've read some great reviews on him.  He's very responsive.  I was able to send him pics of arrangements I liked and he quickly got back to me with quotes.  I want blue orchids...so according to lomas, they are imported flowers.  Lomas charges hundreds more for them...while marvin charges $10 more.

As for pick up...my FI and the groomsmen are picking them up.  they only have to go to the security gate.  for the amount that we are saving it is worth it... plus the guys getting ready is nothing like the girls...so its not a big deal for them.

Thank you for the info! I'm still trying to make a final decision about colors. I original was going to have the bridesmaids wear like a seaglass/turquoise color but I thought maybe coral would stand out better and have gray chevron ribbons with the aisle decor and maybe gray chevron table runners with lanterns on the tables if we decide on a beach BBQ. Not sure what color I would do for flowers though or if I should choose maybe an accent color in addition to the gray chevron?
I've also gotten several responses from photographers down there, I need to make an excel spreadsheet or something to compare all the packages and prices I can't keep track of all the info!

@talicea7812 oh my goodness, that's amazing!! I also found someone that I priced. For a centerpiece of roses Lomas wanted $85, this outside florist wanted approximately $50. What's the name of your florist?  Will they be driving it to the gate or will your guys go to the store to get it?

@ng 2015

I'm using Marvin with Maya Floral.  The guys will have to get a cab and go to the security gate to pick up the flowers. Its supposed to be about 2-3 down the road from the actual resort to the main road. Once the wedding is over and I get back I will definitely be writing reviews and let everyone know how the outside vendors worked out.

@ KaraEbeth

A spreadsheet sounds good. Its amazing the money you can save using the outside vendors. Even with the Azul set up charges I will still be saving hundreds.  I don't know if I mentioned this to you before but if u want a videographer...look for a company that does photo & video...then you don't have to pay the outside fee twice.

Or here's what I did for my video guy since my photog is flying from home.  My mom is staying in a room by herself.  So I added the videographer on to her room.  He's not actually staying there but now he will be on the list as a guest at the resort.  My mom originally paid $775 for the room but by changing it to a double occupancy it dropped her price down to $635.  So I saved my mom a ton of money on the room, and instead of paying $800 to bring him in, I am paying $635.  The fee coupled with his package price is still cheaper than using Caribe or Matias Cano for 3hours... plus I am getting the guy that I want. Added bonus... He can come early and have lunch and when he's done filming he can stay on the resort and have dinner :)

Hi everyone!

I am getting married at Azul Beach on August 10th. I went down for the Bride's dress rehearsal in July, and at the same time visited about 10 area resorts. Azul Beach is absolutely beautiful, and was far and away my fiance and my favorite resort. We wanted a hotel that was intimate and small enough that we wouldn't be running all over the property to spend time with everyone, but we also wanted the hotel to be very high quality. We have some picky people coming down with us, and we wanted to make sure the food, booze and service was top notch so no one has anything to complain about.

I think all the area hotels nickel and dime you, so as long as you are prepared for that up front I think you are fine. If you want a REALLY basic wedding it can be done fairly inexpensively, but the thing is they offer SO many upgrades that it's very hard to stick to your guns and keep it simple. I can't tell you how many times I've gone back and forth about whether to stick to my original notion of as basic as possible, or to upgrade and get some fabulous sounding add on. In the end, we've arrived at what I think is a compromise. We are likely going to spend around 15K on a wedding for about 50 - 60 people. Still much better than NJ prices, but more than I expected to pay in Mexico.

I say cut your costs on the little things - for example, we are only paying $220 for our 6 centerpieces and $110 for flowers on the gazebo - but don't scrimp on the important stuff. For us, that is photography and entertainment. We are paying the outside vendor fee to bring in Blue Len Caribe (hoping they are good!), though they did offer to split the cost with us, which was nice. Try to find a photographer that also has videographers so you can pitch it as one vendor and only pay the fee once. We are going with the Lomas DJ for $1500 for four hours, and our big splurge is a cellist to play at the ceremony for $750. The cellist is absolutely not an essential expense, but I just love the idea of beautiful live music as I walk down the sand to my hubby. That is worth the expense to me more than, say, orchids in my bouquet.

Don't forget -- YOGMO --- You only get married once! (hopefully! haha)

If anyone has any questions about the resort or the planning process, let me know! I haven't gotten married yet, but I am almost done planning and I already stayed at the resort, so I may be able to offer some info to you 2015 brides :)
