Thank you I really have zero complaints about anything! I was a little nervous before we left (worried I didn't have everything done!) but everything worked out better than I ever hoped for Nekeisha WC at the Riu is AMAZING!! I have no clue what other past brides where talking about when they said she was hard to work with. She went out of her way to make sure everything was better than what I asked for. The Riu Montego Bay is an ideal place to get married!

I'm so glad everything turned out wonderful for you. I thought about the Riu also when I was planning because. I have stayed there. It really is beautiful. The Riu palace next door is awesome also.

I am doing the exact thing. I don't like eating outdoors. Especially not for a more formal event. My wedding is on the beach on June 22 in Mobay but the reception will  be indoors. I really don't like flies around my food so outdoors (while beautiful) was not an option.

IzzyDee, you look beautiful. I was really considering the RIU but I wanted a more intimate affair and I thought it would be a very busy place. I have heard many great things about the Riu. Your pics are fabulous. I have a few weeks before I go and I am still looking for 2 things, a floral shop in mobay and a reasonable videographer, any suggestions

There were zero flies or bugs at my wedding and reception (which was on the roof of the steakhouse for a private event), in fact I saw more bugs in April when I was there over a year ago at the gran Bahia in runaway bay, Jamaica. The riu really wasn't busy at all which I had expected it to be! Right now isn't really Jamaicas busy time though which may be why (since it's getting hotter in Jamaica because may is the start of their summer and June is also hot but the rainy season). I've been in Jamaica almost 2 weeks and have one sand flea bite on my ankle; so like I said no bugs .

I used Jan's Florist myself and they did a great job on my flowers! Tia florist never got back to me even when I sent emails every day!! I didn't use a videographer since we had over 40 guests and most took videos and photos. I actually had a very close family friend who is a professional wedding photographer who shot all my pictures for us; just said she was a family member so I didn't get charged a vendors fee @@cankem80

Like I've said before my wedding was magical and went off without a hitch! Only thing I wish is that the magical day lasted longer than 24 hours!!

We are using Floral Fantasies - Tai Floral never got back to me and Jan's responded once but when I asked a follow up question I never heard back. But I have heard great things about Jan's from many other brides!

Chantal at Floral Fantasies has been great to work with. I'll let you know how my flowers turn out in 27 days!

We are not doing a videographer but I've heard good reviews of Elite Media Concepts, Roxroy and 876 films.

Thank you Izzydee and becky 98. Since my wedding is in June, the busy season, I figure the resorts will be booming but I always hear great things about the Riu and plan on visiting the resort for my next Jamaican vacation. I spoke with both Jan's and Tai florals. Both have beautiful arrangements. Jan's prices were much better but then you add in vendor's fees, transportation and the lovely 16.5% government tax and your right back to the resort fees. My mother makes floral arrangements so we are taking silk flowers but I really wanted real flowers. If I find a flower stand or ship we will buy some and she will make some arrangements. Otherwise we will just go with the silk ones.

I really wanted a videographer but I am thinking of just having all of my guests send their videos to my cousin, who is a filmmaker and he will edit a video together for me. This will be completely free so its really becoming a more viable option as I keep spending more money on OOT bags. Its addictive.

Vendor fees can be killer; it's strange that Jan's gets charged a vendor fee for your resort? I wasn't charged a vendors fee at all when I used Jan's through the Riu.

And June is Jamaica's summer, I don't get how it's the busy season when the busy season is from January to end of March LOL! (who told you June is the busy season?) especially since that's when the weather starts to heat up at home!!

Just prepare for intense heat when you come in June! End of May into June is when the heat ramps up for their summer. Right now it's daily 30+ degrees it'll be way more humid in June with a way higher chance of rain. I'll cross my fingers that the rain stays away for your wedding!! @@cankem80

My husband and I were talking to one of the life guards and he was saying that in June through to August it can rain for days straight into weeks even!! The water levels this year are also really low, to the point that the firefighters can't put out fires unless absolutely needed!! They are in a drought at the moment and citizens actually have to use their water that they have in reserve! It rained for maybe a minute today which is nowhere near enough for their crops and such. Yes the weather has been fantastic and hot but I really hope they get the rain they need soon or they will have to fly water in!

I'm a travel agent and I come to jamaica every year, well for the last 12 years I have, but I'm new to the wedding scene as its my first. Most resorts sell out pretty quickly in June as has ours. It actually sold out in January. June is very popular because that's when most families vacation. Yes it's their rainy season but I come every June during the third week and never been rained out, fingers crossed. Weather is normally 70 and breezy. You would think I know a florist. I've been on most of the tours, kingston, Ocho rios, you name it but I'm clueless to wedding particular. Now if you wanna know where to go have fun, I'm your girl lol

I can see June selling a bit more since it's the off season so prices are a lot cheaper, so families can afford it a little more. Except most families go when their kids have march break and what not.

This has been our 3rd trip to jamrock and my husband and I will probably come every year we love it so much! We chose may for our wedding since it is cheaper, (we had over 40 guests so needed a bit of a cheaper deal; which you will not get from December to end of March),than the prime time to go but still really nice weather , can get a little hot but I love the heat!

Just ask your wedding coordinator which florists won't be charged a vendors fee and start emailing! I wasn't able to confirm my flowers and florist till the week before my wedding! (Florist never got back to me for weeks even with constant emails and messages!) A fantastic DJ is Kevan Stewart as well! He pays his own vendor fees! Turns out he is a lot cheaper than the resort DJ and is very good at what he does . And like I said I used jans florist and didn't pay a vendors fee and the bouquets turned out beautifully for what I designed!

Hope everything works out and good luck! @@cankem80

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
