Poll: Best Fall Month To Have A Wedding In Punta Cana (Bavaro)?

Recommended Posts

Need your help ladies! I am torn as to what month to have my wedding. Given that hurricane season runs June through November, it's really not practical to rule out that entire timeframe. However I need to plan the wedding for the Fall, and from what I've heard and read, the height of hurricane season seems to be August/September/October! I am considering September, October, or November, to make sure I give guests ample notice. But there are pros and cons of each, when you think about weather (rain, storms, heat), proximity to the holiday season, and overall convenience for guests.

September seems like an ideal time, but it's one of the the hottest, rainiest months, and prone to hurricanes! October seems OK since it's supposed to be a bit cooler and less rainy, but it's still prone to hurricanes, and getting closer to the holidays (not to mention halloween. I definitely do't want a wedding close to halloween!) And in November the weather is better overall, but then you start getting close to Thanksgiving and the holiday season, so I feel like less people are willing to travel around that time. They may be saving for the holidays or already traveling close to this time! November is also my birthday month.

So everything considered, which month would you say is the best [Fall] month for a wedding in Punta Cana?

I got married in Jamaica in October and it was great! What about doing early November, right after Halloween? Maybe Nov 2,3, or 4th? The rates are still quite low. We were told high season doesn't actually start until Dec 15th so you should still be able to get a good group rate. You miss Halloween but still have plenty of time before Thanksgiving. I'm Canadian so Thanksgiving for us is early October. You could also look at the last week in October right before Halloween. We were told Jamaica rarely gets hit by hurricanes, but we just decided to take our chances. The weather was fantastic and it was still really hot. I think we had one day where we had a couple of showers, and that was it. Hope that helps. Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
