We ordered it from an online store so I wonder if I can just take it into another jeweler to have it tightened. I don't think I will have time for atleast 2 weeks. Should I stop wearing the ring until it's tighter?
Morgan, is your ring insured just in case? You should have that looked at and tightened immediately, and if it's not already insured, get it insured ASAP.

A friend of mine had the misfortune of having her diamond fall out of the prongs and it was lost and gone forever about 6 weeks prior to her wedding this past July. If they hadn't had it insured they would've had to buy a whole new diamond... lucky for her she got it insured immediately after getting engaged and the insurance company gave them the money within 2 weeks, so she got her engagement ring back with a new diamond about 10 days before the wedding.

Also---if you haven't done this, you should call around to a few jewelers and ask for a quote. It's not terribly complicated for them to do if you give them all the info over the phone. Your stone should not move at all, get that sucker fixed!

yes, I got it fixed. i have found a really good jeweler in town (I've only lived here 3 years so i had to shop around for someone good.) I really like this guy. I had to get my ring resized when I first got it & I took it to him. My FI had one of my rings sized for comparison somewhere & they did it wrong so he ordered my ering too big. Anyway, I was really impressed by this guy. He is really nice & knows a lot about jewelry. So he was who I called when I noticed it was loose.

He said I had the problem because Tulipset (my setting) can be hard to set, so it probably wasn't done right the first time. I would have bought my ring from a jeweler I trusted, but the type of stone I wanted wasn't easy to find last year when I picked my ring out, so I picked one out from an online company. It's a moissanite, which is a lab created, durable, colorless stone. It's an inexpensive stone, so I did not get insurance. My ring was probably around $700 so I didn't think insurance was necessary. I might look into it though because it should be cheaper on a less expensive ring.

I would get it tightened right away. Mine was loose when I first got it and I took it in. I would not wait - not worth the risk. Especially if it's not insured yet!!

morgan, can you post a pic of your ring? ive never heard of tulipset before and i cant picture what you described. glad you got it fixed though! and yeah, i think you should still insure it. it might be appraised at more than what you paid for it, so if it got stolen or lost the insurance co would pay you the appraisal price...

It's a setting only made by stuller. I spent a lot of time shopping around, but as soon as I saw this I was done. It's so perfect for me. I love tulips & really liked the simplicty of the design with a little something different.

My ring is white gold. These are just pictures I found online.

Thanks! I'm hoping I can have some tulips in my bouquet. I'll have to see what's available.
