@@jennifernoel1 that's actually not bad i thought i would have been higher...how many rooms did you block?

@@helenk @@FutureMrsGlover @@budgetbride2015

Yea, i understand as it cost $1000 to block the rooms. But I called all my friends that I knew could pay their deposit and send them the TA info. The prices have already gone up by $55 I don't want to risk it being any higher. I'm trying to keep my guest under $800

You should be able to keep it under $800 esp if most of your guests are flying from Florida (flights are usually pretty reasonable to JA) how long are most of your guests staying for?

I'm completely confused on the "room block." I'm using a travel agent but she never mentioned a room block - she is just taking $150 deposits per person to reserve the room and she said prices won't change (but could go down, or they will also price match a sale price on any travel site).

Now I'm wondering if I should double verify with her on the prices. Our wedding isn't until June and I definitely don't want people paying more.

I have contacted several agents and they have all pretty much said the same thing. Some don't recommend a room block because if the prices go down you may not get the discounted rate (but that all depends on whatever specials are going on at the time).

However because I have stayed at this hotel before and there's a wedding the day after mine I don't want to risk my guest paying a higher price because I know it can get sold out.

My guest shouldn't be paying any more than $700-800. Air fare from Florida is around $221-268. Our deposit is only $50 per person.

@@budgetbride2015 I blocked 10 rooms.

@@budgetbride2015 @@helenk the hotel requires that you block ten rooms. Yes, the agent blocked the ten rooms for me.

What I did was send out my wedding website to all of my friend and famil. The  site has the deposit information and  the room prices as of now. I advised them to pay their deposit so that they can lock in this rate.

Per the agent, if the price drops and its not for new customers we'll be able to obtain the discount. However if the lower rate is for new customers only we wont be able to get the lower price.

I choose this agent because out of all the agents i sent an email to she was the fastest to respond and she had a lower deposit than everyone else.

I already have a few ideas i took from them. Since i'm so early but really don't want to wait till the last minute i think i'm going to start with making 30 of everything and then as people book add on. My family keeps joking that i might be having twins that one's hiding (NOT FUNNY) but if that's the case I won't have time to do anything (unless i clone myself)....LOL!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
