Newbie looking for help finding resort

Recommended Posts

Hello ladies,

I am recently engaged and looking for some input on resorts in Cancun/ Riviera Maya area.  Not sure where to even start.  I live in the Ft. Worth/Dallas area and there is only one Destination Wedding Travel agency in the area, but they are still too far away.  Just wondering if anyone had any recommendations.

We actually went to a wedding at the Azul Beach Resort last month in October and it is the same place I was engaged.

I loved the resort, but their packages only offered up to 25 guests and we will probably need more than that. I know I can pay after that for each additional guest.  However, trying to keep a decent budget for the wedding.

We are looking for an all-inclusive family friendly resort on the beach that is good for swimming.

I want my two daughters to be part of the wedding ages 3 &11.

We would like a resort that offers a package with ceremony, reception dinner and possibly cocktail/welcome dinner.

We will be having approximately 40-67 guests

would love a resort that offers incentives for the more guests we have stay: free wedding, free rooms, discount rates for guests, etc.

also what would he low season or mid season for these areas.  My fiance wants to do early- mid 2015.

Hi @@misbosox

I had/have a similar dilemma and my TA recommended Azul Sensatori because it has a side for kids & great kids club as well as a a side for adults so those guests wishing to have an adult-only experience can do so.  While I did TONS of research on resorts (even made a comparison spreadsheet *blushes*), I found reaching out to a TA and giving them a detailed list of "must haves" really helped narrow things down for me.

Ann has been great to work with and provides honest/candid feedback. During our "interview"/informational call, she recommended the best times of year that would also give us the most leverage in terms of getting great flight and room rates. I shared my spreadsheet with her and she provided great feedback of the resorts listed and recommended ones I hadn't considered like Azul Sensatori. She also visited Azul Beach and took pics during her recent trip to Eldorado Casitas.

Hope this helps!

thank you... we love Azul, but the room prices are too much for our guests that are traveling with kids... I think we finally narrowed it down to moon palace.  just keeping fingers crossed they have our date open

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
