Help planning our wedding December 2014!

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

We're are trying to get started on planning our wedding for December 2014. We were hoping to get married just after Christmas, but it seems like a lot of the Hotels won't host our wedding, as it is 'too busy'. We don't have many guests coming in from overseas, as most of the guests are  my Fiance's family, who either live in Jamaica, or can stay with family members there, so block booking rooms won't be necessary.

I know it is high season over the Christmas holidays, but I didn't think they wouldn't be able to host a wedding. Are we barking up the wrong tree? should we just forget about having a wedding as this time of year? has anybody else experienced this? feeling quite deflated about it.We just seem to be hitting closed doors. Maybe someone out there can share their experiences with us? Thanks :)

Hi

Oh that's a shame, but if you really want to get married abroad don't give up.

Ask you local travel agent to help, even your not planning to book through them you could just get quotes. As if there quoting then that hotel must doing wedding.

Or seek help of a wedding planner in Jamaica

We normally do not have a problem booking weddings in december.

most of the resorts won't host your wedding not because it is Christmas but because the resorts want your guests to stay at the hotel and some even have a requirement that 80% of your guests stay at the resort.

Since it looks like you do not need to do a hotel wedding, have you just thought of doing a venue like restaurant, beach, etc.?

Or a resort that is not all-inclusive.  AI will be the strictest about non-guests coming onto the resort.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
