anyway that's awesome that you already have 45 booked. we are inviting about 80 but we are thinking only 20 will actually come. i have mixed feelings about this. some days i don't care who's coming and actually happy because obviously it will keep the costs down and some days i can't help but feel hurt that the people i want to be there could not make it.

I know, that's the only part that's a downer with having a destination wedding :(  Let's stay positive though, hopefully they'll all still love us no matter what!!

Hello.. ..

I picked St. Lucia pretty quickly . . .  we had been looking into going there on vacation but then went somewhere else - so when we started doing this whole wedding thing I looked at what Sandals had to offer ( that is we were going to go for vacation)  I really liked that it all seemed so easy so I picked that for the location!    175?!?!?!  Holy hahah   45 is even a good number!   We only invited 22 people (11 couples) (parents, siblings, 1 best friend each and just recently decided to invite his Aunt (also god mother) and her date as well as one of my Aunt & Uncles)  The only 2 we aren't sure about at this point are my two sisters (going as one couple) They are both college students so they need to wait til next school year to know if they can go.

Your location sounds pretty... Mexico and Jamaica are very popular on this site!

As for my invites I have no idea!  I just sent my STDs out at the end of July and plan so send invites in October so I have a little time to think about it.   My FI is an artist so I'm hoping he will be wiling to help me design something special!!

With that many people I'd stick to something pretty simple for Welcome Bags. . .  I think if you just stick some individual packs of things like Tylenol, Pepto, A welcome letter and something like that they would be perfect!!  My Welcome Bags have been consuming my life HAHahah - Since I don't have that many to make I find it easy to keep adding things... I find things on sale or for a good price and I'm like oh I need those! hahah it's really bad!!  I actually have little goodies I will be sending out every three months up to a couple of weeks before the wedding.

I haven't been dress shopping yet only done a little on line browsing... not sure when I will go.. not really "there" yet for this!

I don't really have a set color scheme... I just want bright tropical colors.  I am doing an all white (or shades of white) dress code for everyone with an accent color of Yellow.

My mom is helping me make a brooch bouquet.  - I'm very excited about this.

I'm not having a wedding party - since we have such a small group I want everyone to really feel like they are part of the wedding.  However, just last night the wedding came up and My FI said something about how he should ask his brother to be his best man.. I was like umm we said we weren't doing a wedding party... he looked at my like I had ten heads and said "I dont know what a wedding party is but my brother should be my best man!"  hahahaha  sooooo I will have to bring this up again soon and if he really wants a Best Man I will ask my Best Friend who is coming to be my MOH.  I already told her we probably aren't doing a wedding party but if we were she would be my MOH.

Whew sorry this is soo long!!  A friend I work with had her wedding at Sandals in St. Lucia and it looked AMAZING!!! And she only had positive things to say about it when she got back!!

Keep us updated with the details, I love seeing pictures of different ideas :)

Like you, I didnt really care to have a wedding party either (less for me to have to worry about!). Then it started off with my FI wanting his brother as a best man....so I was like "ok, we'll have a best man and a maid of honor...thats it".  Then a few weeks later he says "Its really important to me that I have all my best friends as groomsmen". lolol  and so it began, now we have 7 groomsmen and 3 bridesmaids.....ohhh well, cant win em all!

On a side note, we just opened our first registry today :)

Right now, just Bed Bath and Beyond....probably going to do Macy's and then maybe Pottery Barn too...I dunno, I wanted to pick somewhere where they have sales or coupons that people can use...I also wanted to give people more options.

Any thought on Myregistry.com???  I heard you can tie a few registries into one site.... but then again, I dont want people to think I'm going overboard..

I did look at that website once a while ago.. I thought it was pretty cool!  A great way to pick out stuff you would actually want instead of picking stuff because it is at one of the stores you decided to go with.   I'm pretty sure you can use the one you already made with the site.     The only thing I would be mindful of is making sure you pick a mixer of things that are available online as well as in the stores - not everyone likes to shop online.

I haven't even thought about registering - I don't think I will even do it unless people asking us if we are.  So, if I do... I'll probably look into this some more.

Let me know if you decided to try it out.

Hey guys!

I've been off this website for a while since I was studying for my boards--- but now that I passed. I am back in wedding mode while I job hunt :)

It's so nice to see so many of us New England ladies on here.

UMassRN007- Time does fly.. next thing you know it will be January. It sounds like you do have a pretty good chunk of things organized and you are right you can't do much to a certain point until you get an accurate number of people going.

The site with multiple stores for a gift registry is a great idea. Not sure if we are going to have one...but we are so far from even thinking about it.

RaynDrop- St. Lucia is gorgeous! I went there year and loved it. It's going to be a beautiful wedding. Where did you get your OOT bags? I am in search of reasonably priced canvas bags but am not having much luck and I'm scared to order online without seeing how they look/feel.

pongyang2001  - completely understand but just like UMassRN007stay positive and donâ€t try to take it personally. You will have a great wedding in the end.

As for me ladies...I picked my date May 10, 2014 and location Grand Palladium Riviera Maya, MX, getting married at St. Francis Assisi in Xcaret. Finished sending out STD dvd's w/magnets in July. Have my wedding website up. Colors for my wedding will be fuschia/hot pink & royal blue ...I have an "hacienda" theme for the wedding. We have 7 BM and GM! UMassRN007- we had the same scenario :)

I have a list of DIY and looking into things that I can get done without knowing how many people are coming...photographer, dj etc.

Aww that is great to hear!  I have never been to St. Lucia - is it bad that sometimes I get more excited just to go there then to actually get married ??? HAHAHa

I actually have two sets of bags  I got some from Christmas Tree Shop for $5 each ... then I ended up getting some from another bride on here with shipping they were $2 each.  I need to get rid of one set... just can't make up my mind on which ones.   How many do you need?

I'm a touchy feely person too - I almost bought so many bags but stopped because I didn't know how they felt ... hahah

I can't believe my wedding has already come and gone. Unfortunately I got salmonella poisoning 2 days before the wedding and really didn't feel good. I ate nothing but toast for 4 days and saw the resort Dr twice. After 2 rounds of antibiotics and a solid week I started to feel human again. The only good part is that the resort gave us a complimentary week stay for our one year anniversary. I'd be happy to answer any questions you guys might have about how we did things, or our planning process. While obviously I didn't get to fully enjoy it, everything turned out exactly how I wanted, and it was beautiful.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
