Hey there, I'm a Boston bride as well!!  I will be getting married at Now Jade in January 2014. I'm currently still in grad school and its been super busy, so I don't think I'd be able to meet up until after the semester is over. Have you chosen a date or a resort yet??

Hi Beth!

You wouldn't happen to be an NP program? I'm just guessing by your username. I'm in one too so it seems we are on the same boat!

Now Jade is such a great resort...it's actually one that I am looking at for a May 2014 wedding. How did you pick it? I'm thinking about going down to Mexico in April as soon as classes are down. Did you do that too?

We can definitely plan to meet after the whole semester dies down :)

Yes, I'm at the end of year two and its going to be the death of me...how far along are you? are you family/peds/adult?  I have no idea how I am going to survive next year between work, planning a wedding, school, and 250hours of clinical lol.... After reading a TON of reviews I had pretty much narrowed it down between Now Jade and Moon Palace. Moon palace was great because they offer a lot of "free" stuff if you get a certain number of room nights booked, but it was also >$500 per night for a basic room (not including airfare), that was a little bit out of the range I wanted my guests to have to spend. Therefore I ended up choosing Now Jade. My travel agent has also been to a wedding there and said it was gorgeous :)   There are so many beautiful resorts in Mexico to choose from, and i'm sure most of them would be an amazing experience either way.

Have you ventured into making a guest list?  If so how many people are you inviting?

2nd year that's great! I'm going to graduate this semester from the Adult/Gero NP program at the IHP. I completely hear you...planning a wedding and having class plus clinical is a ton to handle. This is a great site though for resources so it should help.

There are too many resorts to choose from! I narrowed it down to 7 resorts! Ha, I know that is a lot but I can't narrow it down further until I go do the site visits. What travel agency did you go with? I submitted a request for information to Apple vacation, Wright travel agency and called Destinationweddings.com. I don't think I will go with destinationweddings.com after reading all the bad reviews.

We did start to get a list going and we have about 60-70 that we may invite so we are thinking that half will go...

What about you? How many people did you invite.

By the way, we just finished the gift to ask the groomsmen. My first DIY! So excited! I will share later when I take a picture.

OMG i'm so jealous that you're almost done, sooooooo excited for you!!!! I ended up going with Destination weddings.com because two girls that I work with had done their weddings with them and had no issues (we all had/have Debbie Johnson). I initially freaked out after reading some of their reviews on here, but honestly my travel agent is amazing. She is so reliable, always gets back to my bazillion emails, and has great suggestions on how to sort out some of the details (when to send save the dates, putting together a room block, etc).. Another plus is she is actually stopping by the resort this week while she is on a group trip with friends to "check it out" and get me some pictures...I also sent her with a list of questions I had for the wedding planner lol.. As far as rates are concerned, looking at rates through expedia etc. is slightly cheaper, but ive read that because the rooms aren't in a room block guests could get bumped if the resort is overbooked, that kind of drifted me away from going that route.... Either way, there are so many options, try to get word of mouth on a specific travel agent as opposed to a company. Bahhhh so many decisions!!

I'm freaking out because we are inviting 135 people, ideally i want 80, but i'm okay with 100... we'll see how that goes lol... Have you thought about colors? type of gown you want?!  Are you planning on visiting each of the 7 resorts on your trip? I'd love to see the groomsmen gifts that you made when you have a pic....  I'll shoot you any information I get about Now Jade once my travel agent gets back.

I'm excited too but not looking forward to start the job hunting.

It's a relief to hear that you are having a good response with Destiantionweddings.com. So did Debbie block rooms and the flights together or separate? Would you mind fwd'ing her contact info? My email is normas09@gmail.com. She really sounds amazing! Plus, I definitely don't want the headache of going through expedia or other sites for best deals and then worry about having guests not being able to stay in the resort. I agree so many decisions! I am so stressed with school and trying to book a resort by May!

Wow, you have a big group! I had told you that we were going to have 60-70 people but then after a second look that's only from my FI's side!

I am torn between colorful fiesta theme (bright colors) vs a more vintage romantic theme (ie. light pink, burlap)...my pinterest boards are full. haha. Not sure about dress yet except I don't want something too big because I'm on the short side :) What about you, what are your colors & dress like?

I'm thinking about video cd save the dates...read about one posted here and it seemed to be a big hit with guests and got them excited.

Definitely, would love any information you get from your TA. Do you have a pdf of the wedding packages, by any chance? If so, can you send to me to my email? I don't have enough posts to open documents on here.

We are trying to narrow the resorts that we want to visit...it's so hard though. AHH!

I'm going to post the groomsmen gifts shortly...will send you link. My FI just started handing them out and they have been a huge success.

Hi Emily!

Woohoo! RNs rule!

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! May 10 is my brother's bday so it's a good date :) Where is your wedding Gran Caribe or Royal? The both are so beautiful!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
